    Can’t go wrong with halo wars music in videos. Also, I too adore the look of this ship, so unique yet unquestionably covenant. Wish we see more or these, maybe under banished control. The shamed and disheveled crew would easily convert to Atriox after the fall of the covenant.

    One of the fascinating things about Covenant power systems is that the lore and gameplay reasons for fusion power’s volatility are actually incorrect irl. In reality, fusion is far safer and more stable than fission.
    In layman’s terms, atoms don’t want to undergo fusion but must be forced to do so and when that ‘force’ is removed the reaction dissipates and loses energy rather quickly. On the other hand atoms used for fission are often larger and/or unstable and will undergo fission naturally, albeit slowly, if left alone. Fission power systems involve collecting large masses of fissile material and inducing a controlled chain reaction. If that control is removed it can cause a meltdown or in the worst case a nuclear detonation.
    Hope y’all find this interesting!
    (Please encourage your governments to invest in nuclear energy, it’s safe I swear)

    It's pretty interesting that dedicated warships have no glory in the Covenant navy, almost the exact opposite of the UNSC. Instead of being stuck on patrol, it's much more glamorous to be on a cruiser discovering new species or hunting for forerunner relics.

    Im pretty sure shipmasters took great pride in glassing. While it was pest control for them, the act was purifying the galaxy of vermin and its stated in a Halo Short Story that shipmasters would carve religious symbols into a planet, the onboard prophet would then inspect and sanction the complete glassing of the world, if the carving wasnt to standard the shipmaster would be executed on the spot.
    Its not known how often this was done but I would guess it was a rite of passage for shipmasters in their holy duty

      @RapidSteve Год назад

      @@zonnodon163 Its just that he said "glassing was a task beneath shipmasters"
      Which wasnt really true, the glassing of a planet was an holy duty in the eyes of the sangheili. Fresh shipmasters would risk their entire family lines by preforming the marking of a planet for a prophets approval, the initiation of a glassing wasnt something that was taken lightly

    • @gammacompanymark
      @gammacompanymark  Год назад +2

      "Those ships recalled from the outer reaches served the Prophets in their campaign against the humans, but gained little honor in their grim work."
      -Halo Warfleet referring to destroyer's glassing operations.
      The encyclopedia does say that glassing is an expression of religious zeal, but we see multiple examples of sangheili questioning why they didn't ever attempt to bring the humans into the fold.
      I remember a specific Shipmaster expressing his distaste for the practice, but I can't for the life of me remember his name or which book he was from.
      In the Unggoy rebellion terminal they refer to the partial glassing of Balaho as "ferocity unseen since the dawing of our covenant," which tells me its something they don't do often. Doesn't ring to me like a religious practice they revel in, but it's just my take.

      @@gammacompanymark halo evolutions: The Return
      is where this is mentioned.
      I imagine, that in normal terms, a glassing against humans would have been sanctioned by the prophets
      The initiation would be sanctioned by them, a ceremony would be carried out by the fleet master, then the boring task of the actual glassing would have been carried out by them? Just my guess

    One of my favorite Covenant ships as well! It's profile is so unique and intimidating. That fact it carries the same excavation beam as a CAS means it's just as deadly orbital bombardment, if not more so given the inclusion of the bombardment mortars a CAS lacks. 343 needs to give this ship some more big screen love.

Generally speaking its protection comes from being at the heart of a carrier strike group with numerous assets dedicated to screening and protecting the carrier.

      @@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystemit honestly kinda makes sense though in lore. Why would you radically change the design of a vessel when you can miniaturize (or supersize) the pattern and create a large number of light escorts or an extremely powerful capital ship without having to completely design something new.

  • @Erik_Ice_Fang

    Aircraft carrier armament varies. WW2 US carriers were covered in AA guns, while modern ones carry minimal weapons. The Soviet Union on the other hand put a fair number of small and medium missiles on carriers like the Admiral Kuznetsov. Specifically because of poorer design and to try to loophole the treaty with Turkey on military ship transport through the Turkish Straights, they classified the Kuznetsov as an "aircraft carrying missile cruiser". Not true, its a carrier, but you get the point
