I disagree. I absolutely despise the Marathon and Valiant because they just don't have enough guns. The Autumn class is just the most gorgeous ship in my opinion, it has a good amount of guns and missiles and just a better brick since it's not a slab of metal. I also don't really like the Infinity due to the lack of detail about the placements of its armaments.
@@spartantraveler7251I agree with you, but interestingly when modding halo 4 i found out there are at least two full size in game models of the infinity, only one of the 3d in game models has a whole bunch of turret models including point defence and rocket turrets, it's used for the reveal from the clouds in that one mission, other close up missions use a lower-ish quality model without the turrets, if you are on about the actual weapons on the model.
I love how everyone in the community describes the ship as nothing but a Brick. It's a beautiful brick, simply a wonderful brick, and for a brick, she flew pretty good. What I wouldn't give to have a die cast replica of the Marathon.
Have you ever thought about doing a video on what kind of new ship classes the UNSC needs in the Post Human-Covenant War period to stand up to the threats posed by Insurrectionists, Covenant Remnants, Banished, Created, and Forerunner AIs?
I love your ship breakdowns for Halo. Not many people know about the naval side of Halo. I however... have been craving a Halo naval game. So I've been playing Sins of the Prophets and watching your vids to make lore accurate fleets. They are surprisingly effective.
See video called Marathon class. Expect video on how to train for and get through a marathon. See some video on a weird sci-fi brick ship. Day ruined. Seriously though good video 👍
I appreciate the honesty a lot, and the humility needed to take critiscism. I haven't seen the stuff on the other channel or podcast, but will give them a check!
I believe the Canberra did survive. I don’t exactly remember where, but I recall reading Admiral Harper continuing his fight against Brute remnants in either South or North America. It’d be likely that he’d lead from his flagship. Of course I could end up just pulling these memories out my ass
I'm sure everyone else has requested this but you should totally do some of the fandom ships featured in SOTP mod. The Artemis and Thanatos are some of my favorite ships.
FYI the UNSC Canberra is pronounced Can Brah. Source:I’m Australian. It shares its hull classification symbol and its name with the USS Canberra which was named to honour the HMAS Canberra sunk in 1942 and was named after the Australian city.
i gotta admit most of the ships i build in Space engineers are motivation from your videos. Tho i whish i was actually good at building ships... but anyway goodwork and keep it up
It wouldn't surprise me if the unsc required some of the marathons from the ship breaker yards after what's been happening in the halo universe as of late.
The Feeling Lucky went down a hero. It’s my belief, given the angle and timing of the Assault Carrier’s fire, that the covenant ship was targeting Cairo Station. Feeling Lucky intentionally took that hit for Cairo.
Marathon is 12 million tons, Halcyon is 9 million tons. when you say the Marathon is 1 million tons heavier you are probably talking about the Autom class which is 11 million ton. weight difference comes from armor, reactor, main gun size, difference in hanger space ect.
What kind of ship would you build/design to fight the Covenant during the human and covenant war as well as new strategies and tactics? Given the tech humanity had at the time.
am I the only one who thinks Thanos was kinda just trying to start the covenant pillaging worlds adding the stronger species to the ranks to become the rulers of the universe
Just 20 by 2552. I find that a big stretch. Especially since the UNSC Navy still had a few hundred ships at the end of the war. I think that information should now be considered outdated by whoever first penned it. Also it's really a shame that the Marathon hasn't had more direct focus in the games. Same goes for the Valiant-class, which seriously needs to appear onscreen in some form.
Coat dee/da azure meaning azure coast/ coast of azure (goddamn french and their stupidly good halo names) It's the southern part of france bordering italy. One google search and a wikipedia entry later.
The Marathon class has the best namesake. About 10 years ago I read that, as a cost-cutting measure, the Marathon class abandoned the interior honeycomb structure that made the Halcyon so survivable and expensive, resulting in heavy losses of the class. For the life of me, I can't remember the source. Must've been one of the wikis. Can anyone confirm?
I believe it was actually the Halcyons that abandoned the honeycomb structure, which resulted in the Marathons not having them in the first place. According the Halopedia, after the first eleven Halcyons were built, the honeycomb was dropped for the remaining ships of the class as the cost outweighed the reward. (Until the Covenant showed up, resulting in the honeycomb Halcyons outliving their sisters.)

16:41, To be fair to the GMoP, they’re probably used to fighting smugglers and pirates against which these ships are probably adequate.

I was looking for this video 2 days ago, thanks for reading my mind
Great video fam. I forgot how much I enjoyed listening to halo lore and this was absolutely delightful.
Always had a soft spot for the Marathon also looking at the recent Halo audio novel Cutter was offer with the Marathon a promotion likely to Admiral
