      pwnisher does 3d community challenges every now and then, you can enter them or just use the theme as inspiration. The one this month is good for doing character animation.

      I recommend Alessandro Camporota, he doesn't use Blender, but what he explains is true for animation regardless of the software. He explains poses, keyframes, lines of motion, anticipation, holding, squash-and-stretch, dynamic motion, etc. Pierrick Picaut is another great channel which is Blender based. He has a strong focus on rigging, but also covers character animation. There's also a channel, the name of which escapes me, he was an animator at Disney and he demonstrates hand-drawn animation techniques which can also be relevant to 3-D.

      I like the Animation & Rigging course from Grant Abbitt. I think that is a good one for absolute beginners of animation that are already familiar with the Blender interface and if you also want to learn something about rigging a human figure. I haven't finished the course yet (so far I completed 4 out of 7 chapters), but I liked it so far. I do think that the course doesn't go too deep into the topic, but that makes it also easier to finish it and suitable as a "starter".

  • @webwolf4you
    @webwolf4you 21 день назад +4

    Well... :-) In the end you said "took about 1 hour", while in the header you claim that anyone can create this in 10 minutes. Still... An experienced animator could use reference material like you did and SEE the correct poses.
    Many of my students just won't see it and the whole animation would look floaty, the poses would look weird and off. It takes years of practice to see something and re-create the pose with your digital character. Even more: Chose the best key pose and not just stupidly copy every 5 frames of the material.
    Leave alone the fact that using a 3D software intuitively without thinking where to click takes years again 🙂
    So, animation beginners, don't get frustrated if you won't animate this exercise in 10 minutes! Start with something really easy and learn step by step!

    as someone who does parkour and tricks like that IRL, I feel like you didn't do it justice.
    in this case, it'd be more appropriate to use FK for the arms and a FK/IK switch for the legs, for when the legs are in the air, since the IK interpolations create straight lines in the space, which is not how joints move during such a stunt. Also, the rotation on the character is fairly linear, whereas it should kind of stagnate a bit and is accelerate by the legs coming over, giving it the momentum - the kick is kind of swallowed by the IKs as well (or it could be the pose you chose)
    Overall, it's not a bad video, and very informative to beginners, but that kick could have looked a lot more punchy.
    either way, I love your content :)

  • @ratastic
    @ratastic 23 дня назад +28

    it looks pretty bad. you also shouldve used fk and fix those completely straight "arcs", and constant interpolation when blocking . you also never went into breakdowns, moving holds (which have their own keyframe types in blender) or the proper iterative-esque process and blender's breakdown tool (shift e, alt e, etc). it looks floaty because you made the computer do the inbetweening, you went straight from king frames to computer inbetweens. i get its a quick flashy RUclips beginner tutorial but the fundamentals are something that you shouldn't over simplify,and not to be rude but you don't seem qualified to teach this

      Where is a good starting place for someone to learn from scratch? I actually decided to start to try Blender because of his video, but I am a complete newbie, and have no clue where to start. Any guidance would be graciously received. I’m trying to animate medical mnemonics that would help teach health professionals, I was going to try AI, but it looks awful compared to this style of animation (IMO). I’d love to know where else to get great teaching from.

    I mean... I don't want to be rude, but this animation is far from "awesome". I guess for 10 minutes work it's good enough, but It lacks timing, weight, and a lot of stuff to actually make it a good character animation. I really like the content this channel provides, but maybe consult with an actual character animator for this stuff?
