    I have seen this version now four times on RUclips. I want to say thank you. When I was a child I thought the Headless Horseman was an etheric creature, now I see the rider may point to Brom Bones.

      Yeah, it was cheaper to make than the more fluid cartoons made a few decades earlier. Sometimes Fred Flinstone would just move his mouth.

    This is the same company who released an animated version of "A Christmas Carol" in 1969 (or 1970), and also an animated version of Rip Van Winkle....wish they'd do a DVD version re-release of all of them !!

    Sorry for my ignorance I've worked out its the story of Rip Van Winkle. The confusion was as on British London weekend television they showed the two films back to back with no ad break, Rip Van Winkle following on from the legend of sleepy hollow.

  • @MysteryManfrom79
    @MysteryManfrom79 4 года назад +2

    Used to have those on video too! They reversed the stories for some reason, Rip van Winkle was second on the broadcast version.

    Now wait just one FRIGGIN SECOND. Ichabod makes it sound like Sleepy Hollow isn't where he resides, he basically says its a place he can visit. He LIVES in the town of Sleepy Hollow, he doesn't go back and forth from it and to it. Slight error but all in all a very accurate retelling.

      The actual town was Tarrytown. Sleepy Hollow was actually the little valley a couple of miles north of Tarrytown. And of course Ichabod was changing his actual abodes every week to the homes of each of his students.

    Hi I was wondering if there is another animated story that goes with this. I first watched this back in 1979 when I was eight and have never forgotten this film. There was I remember more to to the TV animation, a story that follows on from the ending of the posted one where a hen pecked man wonders into sleepy hollow and is called by a drawf using the voice of hen pecked's wife, he is tricked into falling asleep and wakes up an old man. Interestingly it looks like the very beginning of your part 1 post has the last few seconds of this story. Many thanks for posting this by the way.

    I love these cheesy 70s cartoons. One question: Why does Ichabod have to board with the townspeople? Does this guy get paid so he can live in a house? That seems suspicious.

    • @misfithomemaker3683
      @misfithomemaker3683 4 года назад +4

      Washington Irving explains in his story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" that the town's people do not wish to pay Ichabod enough to afford a house of his own. They view school masters as "lazy". He is therefore obliged to stay on at their farms where he rocks babies and performs small handy tasks in addition to teaching school and choir.
