This was the first movie I ever saw. It was 1955 and I was 5. Brings back so many memories.
This is the best comment I saw in this comment section sir.

Мне мультик не очень понравился (субъективное мнение).
Но я уважаю мнения людей, корректно выражающих мысли. Спасибо!
I'm 26 years old and I found this movie so great, loved it. Just pure passion and great artistic animation work.
Eu tbm
The thought and work put into it, there was so much interesting detail which made every moment special.
The intro music is itself sufficient to bring our childhood memories to life...
Absolutely
Technical skills of the animators were awesome
The animation of Gulliver and the backgrounds is hyperrealistic...absolutely amazing, I remember seeing this in the 1980s as a child. An Amazing film... it is crazy how far we have fallen as a culture and society... it was a kids movie, and obviously so, but still has an elegance missing from modern productions
I'm so glad I found this! One of my very favorites growing up. Haven't seen it in years, now at 67 I can enjoy it again and again!! 🥰
My mother has all of these on DVD and I have seen all of them this one was also one of my favorites
😊😊😊
Sad that this generation doesn't have cartoon like this anymore.
yeah its a crying shame
yeah its a crying shame
PINK LEMON so true cartoons just lack something, our cartoons are just better.
Youre totally right
We had some amazing anime in the 80s and 90s though, check out Legend of The Galactic Heroes
I adopted in 1960 from Germany, first movie my sister and i saw in 1961. Thank you for the memories
theres something so charming and gentle about how gulliver moves and acts throughout the whole movie.he shows proper respect, does his best to move carefully, its all very nice to see
This was played on TV in the 90's in Yugoslavia amoung other classics.
I happened to record it on a VHS and must've watched this a thousand times.
A very sentimental reminder of a childhood in a country that no longer exists.
Back when cartoons were made with love.
Love this cartoon. One of my favorite. Liked as a child and still love now and l'm 72 years young.
Just goes to show we never grow up. To the 2 dislikes, all I can say is "we feel sorry for you".
Thank you CCC for putting this on line.
To all those seniors that never grow up. Stay safe and be well........😷. 😷. 👍. ❤️. 🖖.

Autumn Moon, I'm already there and going strong.......

Michelle Cowell, I agree. Too bad they are not made like this anymore.
Today's generation do not know what they are missing.
Stay safe and be well my friend (if I may call you that)...... 😷. 👍. ❤️......... ;-)
Im one of those seniors lol
Jonathan swift, Lewis Carroll, Rudyard kipling etc were legend among legend in 2009 era
Rudyard Kipling was a racist white supremacist POS.
That Gulliver's one fine looking man, even if he's just a cartoon. This is so excellently drawn & so under-appreciated!
Always greatly appreciated and never "under-appreciated."
im captivated by the way gulliver is animated.. its so unique and really quite beautiful for its time! And the way those waves were animated while gulliver was by the edge singing and smoking.. its all just gorgeous!
If you’re not familiar, it’s an antiquated technique called “rotoscoping.” Basically, they would record real footage of a person, then animate over it frame by frame. You can see examples of it in loads of cartoons from the era.
@@kgpspyguy yes, im vaguely familliar with rotoscoping, thanks for letting me know! Love how they used it here, it seems very fresh i think
@@kgpspyguy 100% still used as a modern animation technique.
@@kgpspyguy Rotoscoping was often used by Ralph Baski in his movies e.g LOTR or Fire and Ice
@@kgpspyguy See: Snow white and the fairy from Pinocchio.
No CGI, just pure talent. Animation at it's finest.
Partially agree, but they did use rotoscoping.
โอ่ เวลลล ว๊อทอะ เรนนิ้งเดย์
takes real talent to produce cgi. its not ppl pushing 1 button, weather or not u like 3d animated cgi or not.
I don't. To me human beings putting their art on paper has more appeal. I hate CGI.
Rotoscoping technique probably. Gulliver was drawn having real person footage below. They used best technologies of that time. It remains a “giant” work. But I assure you CG is very hard work to do and it doesn’t make things easier.
Thank jou Jason I am 79 and stil enjoy cartoons ♥️💯👍🥰🍰
It's nice to read comments from Americans. there is hope that they have the right feelings in their hearts towards the basic things in this world. The plot itself is wonderful. We should be afraid not of the one who is big, but of the one who thinks the opposite, not like all people in general.
My childhood has just come back!!!!!
Childhood is fun because you're only young once in awhile.
James Johnson all’s well 😁😁😁
We´re all together now. All together now.
James Johnson What a coincidence. James Johnson is my name also.
Oh, yeah.
I’m a 90’s kid but I remember having the vhs for this movie and watching it a lot when I was like 3-4, classic
Surely this detailed film should be better remembered in the present day!
i must have watched this when i was 5 or 6, maybe even younger. such a weird memory I have that I haven't experienced in years. reminds me of staying at my grandmas and watching cartoons.
The whole sequence of them tying Gulliver up and putting him on the wagon has got to be one of the most intricately animated sequences in American animation ever.
1939!! The animation is mindblowing.
Not really. Fantasia came out one year later & was 100x the innovation, storytelling and pure, well, fantasy that puts this piece of hackery to shame.
I did like it when I was six, though ...
I love the Town Crier and his voice. "There's a giant on the beach!"
Thank you for uploading this old classic. For a brief moment, I've relived my precious childhood.
😊❤️
I am 44 and this was my favorite movie as a child. Watching this again brings so many good memories. Thank you for uploading this gem.
I remember alternative media like this being available in the 80s, when video companies were releasing anything they could get their hands on. 😄 I first saw this at a friend's house on VHS back then. Amazing film!
I sent this to my older brother, whom I always have been very fond of, he is turning 67 this November, and I 65. We remember this I the early 60s and in The 70s with our younger brothers and sister. This and the march of the wooden soldiers is
Some of our favorite movies of all time . Does anyone out there remember Has Christian Andersen. If so , always remember the good times as a young person. This movie sure has done that. God bless to all . If possible , share this, and many other great movies to your children and grand kids. I'm sure they would enjoy your company as well as the movie. Do it before you can't. Pease to all.

Hans with Danny Kaye? One of my all-time favorites! Saw Gulliver as a kid; But, only now can fully appreciate the animation. Really up there with Disney's Snow White.
42:47 has got to be THE MOST hilariously animated display of terror I've ever seen! 🤣🤣
It is comedy after all. 😂
One of the first movies I can remember ever watching I was born in 1987 and my Nan had it on an old VHS
So true. I watched it in 88 or 90.. Unbelievable how fast time is flying
Was also born in 1987.
Incredible. I forgot how the songs are merged. See also "Emmett otters jug band Christmas ". Thanks for not canceling my childhood.
Arguably the best animated film ever.

THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST MOVIES EVER MADE ! A GREAT WORK OF ART ! A TRUE MASTERPIECE ! thank you for posting THIS FABULOUS IMAGINATIVE GEM !
Really Golden age of Cartoon.
My favorite cartoon movie, a true work of art, with a message of peace understanding and dialogue.😊
My grandma had this recorded on a VHS tape. I watched it many times as a kid in the 90's.
I'm 40 and i grew up with this majestic film. Its just a lovely little story.
I the love animation! Guiliver moves like a real human!!!
Animations like this could be described as early motion captures! They would film live actors, them painstakingly animating over them! Disney, Max & Dave Fleischer, WB, Harveytoons and others made use of this!
I’m 64 & remember watching this in the early 70’s with my brothers & being thrilled, a cartoon movie! ❤
Gulliver's Travel was my father's favorite movie when he was very young man. He bought this as VHS to me when I was very little. This movie is still amazing.😍
46:10🤣🤣🤣🤣 the dude at the top preparing the shoe bottom😂😂😂
😂
I love this movie. It gives me the cozy feels from my childhood.
Man, I'm 38 in three weeks and it's about three decades now since I last saw this. I forgot how good Gulliver's own song was.
@Geth-Who Happy 38!
Im 39 and im with ya. I watched here in Mexico in the open tv in the 90s.
That giant has to be a deep sleeper, since he doesn't feel anything the Lilliputians are doing to him.
Walt Disney was a visionary!!
This movie Gulliver's travel was part of my childhood in the 90's
who would have though that the movie was made in 1939.
Gulliver's Travels was made by Fleischer Studios not Disney.
I saw this movies in the 80’s and had no clue what it was!! 40yrs later and I can’t believe I am watching it!😢
The animation looks so gentle,I hope to work for an animation studio some day and animate like that, just something gentle
I love this story, even have a illustration book! Beautiful!
The scariest scene in this movie for me was that part where David was riding towards those 3 men who were getting ready to fire Gulliver's gun at him with David grabbing hold of the gun as it went off and the round just missing Gulliver getting his attention as the gun fell over that cliff taking David with it and seeing him lying on the ground not moving I started crying right there thinking David didn't survive the fall and hearing Gulliver talk down to King Little and BomBo and their people for their actions and seeing David was alright was really something and it made me laugh later as everyone was singing both songs and saying goodbye to Gulliver as he left for home man this was a great family film showing the power of love can conquer anything and that Wars don't solve anything even something as trivial as a song.
i think those scene is gone when david fall after grabbing the gun
A very unique film from my childhood from a DVD collection I was given, I always found the rotoscoping of Gulliver quite interesting. Lots of laughs from the kings and especially Gabby, I have wondered if Max Fleischer ever planned to make a sequel to this.
I'd forgotten about this gem. While perusing the titles, I saw it, & immediately started saying, "there's a giant on the beach". Thanks for the upload. I'm enjoying it with my twin sons.
Back when I was a child in the 60's, they used to play this movie about once a year on TV. I would wait for it and The Wizard of Oz every single time. Both were such wonderful movies I could watch again and again! Thanks for posting it.
Me too! Also Yellow Submarine, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, (Gene Wilder) and Oliver!

@@yuditkogman109 Yudit what did u say to me? Lol hope that it's gd.
One of the very top animated movies ever made. The attention to details of animation and the many clever little gags, make it more of piece of art than merely a movie.
My mom and dad used to let me watch these cartoons. I loved it. This was my favorite.
I saw *1 frame* of this movie on another video about animated oscar wins and it came flooding back to me.
First watched this as a kid in the early 90s my Mum ran to pop a video in to record it. Every bit of this is a deep water oil drill into nostalgia and memories id totally forgotten.
Literally remembered my Mum running to put a vhs in as I started writing this.
Thank you for the upload and for allowing comments! None of thr others seem to
Incredible symbolism!
I love this movie. Love the comedy, story, and characters. My favorite part is when the two kingdoms make peace because of the prince and princess's love for each other.
Animated by hand, storytelling. Absolutely Beautiful. Thank you for this. Timeless story. These days, makes ya think.
We watched this so much growing up we ruined the VHS. So dad bought us the DVD! Still love this film and the fun songs
Uncredited voices:
Pinto Colvig as Gabby, and Lemuel Gulliver (water gurgling sounds)
Jack Mercer as Prince David (speaking), King Little, Twinkletoes, Dray Horses and the Royal Chef
Joe Oriolo as the Italian Barber
Sam Parker as Lemuel Gulliver
Tedd Pierce as King Bombo
Mercer and Colvig voiced Sneak, Snoop and Snitch (listen again to their dialogues)
Thank you so much. I've been looking for this film. I've not seen it since I was a kid in the 90s on cartoon network.
Glad you found it here in CCC @MrLobo1024 We've got quite some treasures...!
Hooray! Finally a cartoon. Let there be dancing in the streets!
Saw this at the movies with my little brother in 1956, I've loved it since!! It came out before Disney's Snow White, but for some reason Disney's became more popular...could have been the marketing.
Snow White came out in 1937. This film was released in 1939.

My VHS tape of Gulliver's Island got _a lot_ of play when I was a kid.
Kind of amazing that this came out before Disney's Pinocchio. 😄
My dad used to tell me the story of Gulliver and the Lilliput when I was 4/5 yrs old. Sadly the story times couldn't go on after he died when I was 9. He was a great storyteller. I miss him. Its good to finally watch what I assume he must have watched. :')
Aww, sorry to hear your loss. But hey, I'm sure your dad is gonna be a great story teller above, reading to kids that are misplaced in the world and enjoy the story that he tells them about someone special like you.
@@average-art3222 Thanks for the kind words :). Really appreciate it. And yes,I hope he does. I'm 27 now and its shameful I forgot what he sounded like after so many years, but I'm sure he sounds soothing to those kids. Hopefully we meet one day on the other side, cuz I don't think we had enough time alive.

That's easy for to say..🤗
I was able to enjoy watching this in my childhood. The animation still amazes me.

How could 3 people hate this cartoon, unless they work for Disney. This classic is 81 years old now 1939.
Vulcan salute towards the end.
Such a magical piece of film making. It always reminds me of Christmastime because it was always on TV over the Christmas period as a kid. So sitting watching it while eating from my selection box is a fond memory.
My dad has this on VHS and loved it....Used to watch it as a kid with him. It´s a masterpiece :)
Me i used to have the dvd back in 2004
One of the best animated movies ever made.
My, my, my. It has to be at _least_ fifty-five years since seeing this and it was a classic even then.

Great to watch and remind ourselves of childhood our generation had. Greetings to all from sunny Croatia!
Wow, I haven't seen this since the late 80s at least.
Very beautiful drawing. A piece of art for sure
There's a Giant on the beach. My favourite part.
I am INDIAN, but i love this story Gulliver Travels 💕💕💕💕💕👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍

A brilliant and true masterpiece, a creation that clearly inspires us to the best in life and gives us hope, thanks for that!
That's crazy I have a 4 year old daughter and when this came out my Grandpa would have been 4 years old he is still here today just turned 88 years old and I am actually living with him because grandma just passed and I'm helping him with his house. It's so amazing having a grandfather still.
If only I had known that there's still cartoons like this, I wouldn't have wasting my bundles to watch Nigerian movies
Can't believe it's a 1939 movie.....too good animation for 1939
Animations were generally better back then than they are now.
Animators had no less talent back then. It all depends on budget. Snow White by Disney was made just before it.
C'est autrement plus BEAU QUE LES DAUBES D'AUJOURD'HUI. CELA S'APPELLE UN DESSIN ANIMÉ ET NON UNE ANIMATION 3D SANS ÂME.
I have been watching this movie since I was a young child in the late 80s. Its stayed with me this long. ❤ its a childhood memory that I will never forget. Long live Gulliver ❤❤❤ rest in peace daddy.
I saw the beginning of the film on SBS nearly a decade ago (or more - I can't remember) but never managed to finish it since it was on late at night. I only got up to the part when that guy started singing 'All's well' and I remember laughing (out of amusement). I'm so glad somebody was good enough to upload the whole thing on YT. I enjoyed every bit of the film. It certainly made my Saturday morning. Thank you, CCC!
Thank you so much for uploading this wonderful, wonderful film. Sometimes the painful contrast between today's cultural mindset and that of the past is made even more poignant by seeing the artistry, craftsmanship, and skill of an earlier generation.
This is an animated masterpiece enriched by superb talent and acieving a level of quality that the cartoonists of today will never be able to achieve no matter how hard or how long they try!
Im 28 now and this take sme way back to being 5 in my grannys house watching this with her. Good times, wish she was still here
