I'm glad you enjoyed it, mate. It is a blast watching some stuff you haven't seen in a long time, especially from when you were a kid.
Wow, this version really makes it seem that Mr. Crane was killed...and became a ghost. O_O
+Hlootoo Thunderhammer They left out the part where its reported several years later that Ichabod was seen in New York City working as a lawyer/politician - but the old country wives of Sleepy Hollow know better... (BWAHAHA!)
@@yamato0965 true there was another theroy that he had a store owned by him in New York and was seen several times In the new York area but I believe this theroy that he was "spirited away by supernatural means " and became a apparition
Ending is both sad and horrifying 😢😲😳🤪😱😨
I remember seeing this’s a kid and loved it. Thanks for posting.
I never heard, of the schoolhouse falling into disrepair, and eventually decaying. Although this version was trunkated, the animation was on cue☺️. Especially Katrina 😉!!!
Wish the chase scene lasted a little longer.
Thanks for the post. It surely brought memories back of another day.
Wow, I remember seeing this on the "Famous Classic Tales" TV show in the early 70's! If memory serves me right, this was shown around late November/Thanksgiving/early December because of all the toy commercials they had!
I hink this cartoon was part of the Kenner holiday classics shown between Thanksgiving and Christmas. These cartoons used to come on Sunday afternoons in the early 1970s. We boomers watched them because back in the day we didn't have the Cartoon Network , Disney Channel or Nickelodeon. The only things on TV were old movies , religious programs or sports. This was in Southern California and we spent almost all day Sunday playing outside. It was a treat to watch cartoons , because cartoons didn't come back on TV until Monday morning. We had to get ready for school and were able to watch an hour or so of cartoons. We returned home from school in the afternoon did our homework and played outside. Cartoons were on from 3:00 until 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Saturday morning cartoons were on from 7:00am until 2:00 pm. I found out this info by going thru the TV section in the Courier (Oxnard, Ca.) Oxnard , Ca.had the same TV stations as Los Angeles. Google Newspaper Archives ca.1970-1979
Ichabod wasnt so bad in this version. Just comes to show that old Bram should've been the one killed by the horseman. Although as far as i see it, Ichabod was knocked out by the pumpkin and Brom threw him into the water which swept him away from Sleepy Hollow.
He's cute in the books too.
He was fed to the spirit in the tree...like the movie Sleepy Hollow portrayed. LOL
Ichabod was either eaten by the spirit In the tree, spirited away by supernatural means, or the horsemen (brom bones) knocked him and threw him into the river floating him away from sleepy hollow and became a ghost another theroy is that he was seen in New York several times.
Or worse, the Hessian took his head to replace his.
Headless Horseman isn't real in this show it's basically Brom that is the Horseman
Great work. Crane was murdered by the Brom, obviously. And the Headless horseman is just a charade.
He most likely threw cranes body in the river floating away from sleepy hollow and crane became a ghost
Well they did search the river in the original story. And the man who'd been to New York did have a lot of detail when he brought back the news that Ichabod Crane was still alive - studied law, gone into politics, written for newspaper, became justice fo the ten-pound court, but that people chose to believe that he'd been spirited away by the Headless Horseman even though they noticed how Brom always laughed at the story just because it made a better story. And I think they said that Brom was more thoughtless then malicious. But then again that was in the original story rather than in this telling of the story.
this is kinda dark for a kids' movie...
This is the same animation company that animated for Hanna Barbera in the 1970s at times, most notably The New Scooby Doo Movies, the ones where celebrities would guest star on the show.
It's a very crude quality of animation, but they didn't have as much money to work with as the companies in America did. This was done so Hanna Barbera could save some money.
No probs, Kelley. You're right, there were a whole series of stories in this collection. On the original vhs I got this from, it also had A Christmas Carol, the 1969 animated version, which I still believe is the best version out there.
I remember seeing this when I was a kid
10:54 if I walk down sleepy hollow and hear that I already know Mr crane was murdered and became a ghost so I'mma run quickly
dang,that was messed up!homeboy got scratched over a h#@!
+edward loera bruh I died when I read this
Lmao!lesson learned lol!
+edward loera lmao I died twice when I came back n re read this shit. have a good new years homie
IddsufailPK lol!u to bro!n dont end up like this dude!
brom bones is a jerk but Ichabod kind and smart and a good person
Ichabod was a well mannered man also the book he discusses the Song of Roland, I read it, wasn't bad.
Ironic, in the book it's kinda the otherway around: Brom may be rough, but Ichabod's a greedy manipulator
Poor ichabod. They actually killed him in this video
Sleepy hollow mafia
@ 10:39 The ending to this version reminds me of the endings to various Twilight Zone episodes.
The spooky music, the creepy narration and the fade in and fading out of the last words of the hero
I'm expecting to see this reviewed on Phelous sometime soon.
No probs. You're right, they sure do not make them like they used to.
Used to love watching these stories as a boy
brom bones=headless horseman?
I tried to post a link to A Christmas Carol 1969, but youtube wouldn't allow it. Just search for A Christmas Carol 1969 and you'll find it, it's about 43 minutes long.
Appreciated
This is a lot sketchier and cheap looking than I remember it, but still nostalgic!
Ichabod looks a lot like Shaggy from Scooby Doo.
About as brave as well. He was a good bully target too nice to even sense the danger.
In fairness this more actually told then the Disney version
Hey, that's the tree where Mayor Andre was hanged?
At least it wasn't a Headless Horseless Headman!
What's That?
Good version. My opinion is that it was a murder by a jelous rival
The horseman was Brom Bones in disguise, yes. It's more likely Ichabod was frightened away, rather than killed. That's what the book implies.
+athull08 in the book yost is actually bad and he's the headless horseman
*+athull08* It's likely the pumpkin knocked Ichabod out and Brom threw him into the brook.
DA MotoNeko
possibly, but either way, the book almost directly states that Ichabod survives, and is found living far away, years later.
athull08 That's good. Though this one seem like it hints otherwise.
This is very dark for me considering I'm an 5th grader
I was in your grade the time my teacher showed my class this video on Halloween
hamlet is by william shakespeare!
This version beats the Disney Sleepy Hollow sorry but this was a time where back then cartoons like this were dark and the music was very creepy cause you know Icahbod is totally screwed he's finished
Vou ter de discordar
Ichabod looks like Mr. Tumnus.
Ichabod has a very shaky voice, I sense he is prob an ex junkie
This version sux
