Before the likes of "HARRY POTTER",there was "Miss Switch",in the first of several ABC cartoon specials produced by Ruby-Spears,who eventually became the sister studio to Hanna-Barbera Productions, which was confusing. Joe Ruby & Ken Spears were quite a duo,who did most of their work at Hanna-Barbera,as it is speculated that they had created and pitched the idea of "SCOOBY-DOO" to Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera-may they truly rest in peace,,and the rest was a footnote in history. Ruby-Spears officially formed their studio in late 1977,producing mostly for ABC Weekend Specials, and landing their first cartoon series "FANGFACE" for ABC in Fall 1978,eventually leading to "PLASTIC MAN" also for ABC in Fall 1979. Ruby-Spears was originally a division of Filmways, but that studio closed down, and by 1981 Ruby-Spears became a corporate division of Taft Broadcasting, who owned and operated Hanna-Barbera shortly before the Ted Turner takeover in 1991,that eventually landed HB and RS 's entire cartoon library to Warner Bros.Entertainment, which is now THE largest library of animation ever! the voice of "Miss Switch" was played by Janet Waldo, who recently passed away. Ruby-Spears Enterprises eventually slipped into non-entity,but this studio, like Hanna-Barbera,did impressive animation. they were responsible for "THUNDARR THE BARBARIAN",which debuted on ABC in Fall 1980,and later rerunned by NBC in 1983. they also did an animated "RAMBO" in 1985,and even did a limited "CHUCK NORRIS" cartoon series.most of their animation was made overseas, but it was quality animation that many of the Hanna-Barbera people also worked with, which made this very confusing, but ultimately both the studios still cranked-out good animated shows! RS also did "CENTURIANS" in 198n animated "SUPERMAN" series for CBS in Fall 1988,and their last known cartoon series,"MEGA MEN" and "COWBOYS OF MOO MESA".but still, many of Ruby-Spears cartoons look like Hanna-Barbera material, which was hard to tell them apart, since they were both sister studios!
"We'll never get another teacher as good as you!" "Probably not." 😂 Wow! This was when we'd recently gotten ABC in town _(Schoolhouse Rocks and Happy Days!)_ along with a new tower that brought over NBC, PBS, and a UHF station from Denver _(monster movies on the weekend!)_ and we weren't limited to just CBS anymore. I remember the comput-o-witch kinda freaked me out, but not how loud that soundtrack was.
Anyone else remember how ABC used to split this into 2 episodes? They would show the first part one weekend then never show the second part! I'd go to school on Monday and at least 2 or 3 kids would be pissed as hell. Me included.
Saturna just wanted Switch to adopt the paradigm shift towards more progressive core competencies within the organization's infrastructure. But through her over-reliance on technology, she lost the human element and her dynamic ideation resulted in deleterious micro-management. That and she used poisonous crimson mist on her employees - a corporate practice that went out in the 1630s.

I remember seeing this when I was around 10 or 11 years old man is bringing back some good memories they need to do more cartoons like this again for this generation
It's so nice seeing media that depicts the good AND bad sides of witchcraft (Even if it's stylized). especially back in the early 80's when witchcraft and occultism still had a negative stigma around it as far as the general populous was concerned. Miss Switch genuinely cares for the children and despite having her own problems, she continues to worry about their well-being. Whereas Saturna is selfish and vindictive, she doesn't care about anyone but herself, not even other witches. it's a clear view of the two diametrically opposed ideas of witches at the time, Wicked and sneaky, or Enlightened and misunderstood.
We were a few years awasy from the "Satanic Panic" in 82' but once it happened, all the cartoons like "Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies" and even shows like "The Munsters" and "The Addams Family" were deemed too dark for kids and relegated to the archives. I'm sure ABC put this and other great shows like it away for good once the crazed religious nuts started screaming about kids being taught witchcraft in school!

I just wanted to see it again, just once to remember.
joelismymaster I'm also looking for a show about like underground trolls that fake being shot when the kids shoot them with imaginery guns, they only play dead though. Some weird title.....oh well. I got Miss Switch I'm happy :D
+joelismymaster Isn't that the "Secret World of Og"?
yeah, i found it because I remembered the name, lol
Thank you for uploading Miss switch.
I always like movies and cartoons with witches as a child. I was just so fascinated by them, was a witch more than once for Halloween. Witches make cartoons and movies more entertaining. 👍
Margaret Batson yes they do love witches my self 🦇
Omg I’ve been trying to remember the title of this book for the longest while. Read it as a child back in the late 70s and totally loved the book, but the title totally went out of me and I’ve tried Googling and had trouble finding the answer. Now, finally!! Thank you for the upload!
These Miss Switch cartoons were great talk about great memories thanks for sharing these memories to You Tube I really appreciate it
This was a favorite of mine as a kid. Loved my witches 🧙♀️ ♥️
I loved this as a kid, and I still love it. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I remember seeing this when I was around 10 or 11 years old man is bringing back some good memories they need to do more cartoons like this again for this generation
Remember this, love the old Halloween cartoon specials.
Today the Computer-o-Witch would be smaller than an iPhone.
Like it was yesterday. Lol love it.
Saturna is selfish and cruel
We were a few years awasy from the "Satanic Panic" in 82' but once it happened, all the cartoons like "Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies" and even shows like "The Munsters" and "The Addams Family" were deemed too dark for kids and relegated to the archives. I'm sure ABC put this and other great shows like it away for good once the crazed religious nuts started screaming about kids being taught witchcraft in school!
Even though I'm a 2000s kid this gives me nostalgia
Yeah...you definitely missed it growing up nearly 20 years after this aired.
Witch Hazel as an actual antagonist! Love it!
