I have no idea what Eric's splits are so just a bit of guessing here.. he pulled a 2:56 1k two months ago, that is a 1:28/500m pace so his 2k pace should be around 1:33/500m pace. And assuming he does his steady state workouts at 2k+20, I'm gonna say he's pulling a 1:51-1:55 at rate 18-22. Pretty great numbers!
Well done calculation Chan Michael ! If I remember properly, Eric said once in a podcast, " ... it is easier to go fast if you train just 15% over your 2K pace instead of 20% ... ". So I would suggest he is pulling smaller numbers for steady state. More like 1.47 / 1.49 or even faster ;)
mate, the spits you do are what you do. My training pace is not bad, my mid and high stuff have pulled back becuase im getting old and not SUPER fit like i used to be... But its about a consistency for 'YOU' so you find something and hold that split for the time and look at the increments that youve gone up. and then over time, figuring out what you can and cant do at different ratings and for different times.
So true Erci! But it's quiet motivating for me to go and try to pull for 5 or 10 strokes inbetween the split you are probably on ;) Extra motivation portion :)
Hello Eric, thanks for this session and encouragement! Do you use your normal resistance for this training or do you increase your resistance strength purposes?
I stay on my drag most of the time. Powerstrokes i change, but yes for some aerobic low rating stuff, if you rowed with some more resistance, it would help with some muscle building. its just force of habit that i never changed. maybe i should do a session with it just a little bit higher for that reason.
In the (german) pertinent literature it (power endurance / strength training on the erg) is discusssed quiet different. It's 99% like 18/20 rate and pull like 30/50/100 strokes with maximal possible effort. With "Power Strokes" you brought for me personaly a new view into it. And as you said, at rate 18 some things are different and one tend to addapt bad habbits. And if you pull hard with more resistance on higher stroke rates and directly after it with normal resistance on higher stroke rates the adaption from strength into usefull higher rhythm is more likely instead of from small rates.
Great training again Eric👍
Would love to know splits you're pulling :) Can't wait to try this workout.

@@ericmurray-kiwipairindoorr2302 Thank you Eric. Consistency is the key. Cheers mate
