    This is my issue, it’s not more money. At the 3 major health systems in and around Philadelphia, floor nurses make more than their bosses. I have worked in all the city’s ICUs. My best friend got his Masters, he’s a clin spec, and some of the people that were in his program came back to the floor just because they had to take pay cuts as advanced practitioners. I now work with the highest paid floor nurses in the city. I have a friend who just finished his Masters and joined the education department and he has the same issue. Unless your running a hospital or in that circle of administration.

    Hi, I am currently taking my prerequisites for nursing. I also had a Bachelors degree in business. But decided to go back to school for nursing, since I have already had a job in a hospital/medical field.
    I would recommend if you have a bachelor’s already and do want to become a nurse. There are accelerated nursing programs for second bachelor students. Do some research and see if you can find one in your home state. Typically an accelerated nursing program, for second bachelor students, is about 15 months long the most. This will save you time and money.
    I do agree in looking into seeing if your employer can pay for school. I know for me I was working for one of the top hospitals in NYC. I had them pay for some of my classes while I was in school in NYC. But since then I transitioned into active duty military and having them pay for all of my schooling. Especially my prerequisites for nursing and my nursing degree once I get accepted into one.
    I do want to wish the best of luck to any and everyone. Who is going after their dreams and pursuing nursing. You got this!!

    Hi Nurse Kayla! What would you recommend me to do. I am currently working as a clinical research coordinator. I am looking to grow in the clinical research world, but to do so that requires a bachelor. I currently have nothing but HS and I want to go into Nursing school.
    I’m not sure where to start. Should I start with an associate? The majority of the jobs I look into requires a BSN. I have a full time job and I really don’t know how to start on the BSN

    • @NurseKaylana
      @NurseKaylana  2 года назад +2

      I don't remember if I mentioned in the video but my first BS is business. Then I went back for nursing. A lot depends on what kind of student you are. There are accelerated BSN programs for people with bachelors. I believe that's the quickest way to get from where you are to a BSN. You could also get your ASN first and then start working while taking BSN classes. It also depends on the cost of the program you choose. Since I already had university loans, I opted for a $10K state college program (even though I had to wait to get in) vs a program that was $30k but would have taken me immediately. I'm not sure if that answers your question but basically there are a lot of variables and I suggest writing your options down to compare. Usually, the quickest translates to more expense whereas the "cheaper" option will probably cost you time.

    There is not a shortage of bedside nurses! there’s a shortage of nurses who like being abused.
    We need to radically change the system, reduce burnout and overload, increase staffing, quotas, and requirements, decrease nurse to patient ratios.
    Speaking from Florida’s perspective, at least
