Girlll I’m trying to leave my adult cardio stepdown unit for NICU 🤣 & NICU is one of those specialties you either love it & stay for years or hate it. Definitely give us updates on how you’re liking your new unit!
I feel like it all depends on which NICU you work at. Im in a Level 3 NI with 84 beds. There are days when it's slow, then others where i dont get to sit down. It does get repetitve with the diagnosis you see but the learning never stops. Im just now getting to the point where i can anticipate what will happen next and what i need to look out for. Ive been in NICU for a year now and love it! I hope your new job will bring you joy:)
@KayDejaVu yeah lol 84. We never go on divert either so sometimes we have to open nurseys in mother baby for our nicu babies. I think 95 was our highest census this year. Right now we have 62 as census
Congrats on your new job!! Good for you, fulfill your learning desires. Nursing has so many avenues, learn all that you can. One day you will find your niche.
Good for you for tuning into yourself enough to know when to pivot into something more suitable for you and/or simply something that you would love to explore🥰. This is what you do when you’re young with no children or a bunch of other obligations. I love it ❤️😂 Congratulations 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
all of your reasons to leave the nicu made me want to work in the nicu as a nurse even more 😭 hope you find what works for you 💗
Love that for you and I hope it works out 💕💕💕 tysm

I thought you would be a NICU nurse for life loll but I’m happy for you and I hope you enjoy the new unit more! Congrats on your new job!
You and me both lol. Thank you so much.
I think Peds ER would be best for you. But hopefully Adult Pulmonary works best for you. But I'm working with adults
You should try the ER!
What level NICU were you in?
Level 4
