Just subscribed so I can follow along with your SRNA -> CRNA journey! As an almost 40 year old ACNP in the ICU, I will be pursuing a final career as a CRNA 🎓👩🏼⚕️ and look forward to learning from others who are going before. There are a lot of reasons I’m leaving the NP position but the bottom line is I want to enjoy what I’ll be doing for the next 20+ years. Good luck & keep us posted on your journey 🙌🏼 🎉
Thank you for watching and subscribing! I'll be 40 in Feb :) Where are you in the process? Have you confirmed your experience as an ACNP will be accepted as your ICU experience? Just curious because I see that question from time to time on message boards.
I'm literally in the midst of fnp vs crna.. 6 years rn experience with mixture of SDU/PCU & ICU, already have my BSN, considering my pros and cons and this video is so amazing and helpful. Any more advice please send my way!!🥰 also, good luck in your crna adventure
Hi! I am currently in my last 9 weeks of nursing school and I have been thinking about my end goal. I am currently taking BSN courses, but once I complete my bachelor’s I don’t know where I would start. I know that I would like to go further and possibly become a NP. I honestly don’t know which specialty I would want. Thank you for the helpful information and good luck in CRNA school. You got this!!
Love this vid, lol no cap.. your knowledge and research is Awesome and your voice is soothing .. Can't wait to see your experience once in school.. 🤙🏽🌊💚🌴
Personally I want to go to crna because I enjoy critical care and medicine. I wanted the money of course but if I don’t like money isn’t worth it. Im doing it because I’m passionate about it and the money. Won’t say money to an interviewer but let’s be real people become crnas for their own reason. We can be a crna for the money as long as it’s not your only motivation.
@TheStoneChronicles I'm glad it was helpful. I never know if the info makes a difference. I appreciate you for watching! I haven't decided if I'm going to publicly announce where I'm going before I graduate LOL. I'm going to a major university in Miami.
I absolutely love your videos. I am not even in nursing school yet, I have made 4.0s in my sciences and have been drawn to the CRNA profession since I found out about it. I think about it every day and every day I seek to learn more. I am just nervous about how hard it will be for me to get accepted into a school as well as my age, as I am already 33 and I will hopefully be going into my 15 month BSN this Fall. I know I have to get my ICU experience behind me as well.
Thank you so much for the compliment and watching. I'm so happy you enjoy my videos. If you're not in nursing school yet, you still have a ton of control! I understand your age being a concern for you but you're going to age whether or not you go to CRNA school. I'm 39 just getting ready to start a program and the social security retirement age for my age group is 72 (so I have a long time to work still regardless of what I'm doing). As a CRNA, I will be able to retire sooner than that (if I choose). I've seen people on message boards saying they plan to apply and they are already in their 40s. Just keep your eye on the prize :) Good luck.
@@nasayjones3056 thank you! Can you shadow (more than once)? Do you follow message boards for either? That's the only thing I can think to suggest at the moment. That and figure it what your long term goals are for practicing because there are differences.
HI friendly nurse mentor! Haha love that phrase that made me smile! could you do a video on red flags / questions to ask for ICU/CVICU’s in interviews? I’m a cardiac step down nurse and am gonna apply and am wondering what to look for! I’ve only been a nurse for 6 months but 5:1 is NOT for me and i miss the critical care / critical thinking from my icu clinicals
More than 2 is not for me! Of course! Red flags as far as unit environment? I'm planning to post a video for pre nursing students next but this topic will follow. Thank you for watching :)
Wonderful video! For students like myself who is getting ready to graduate from BSN is there a certain area of ICU that you feel is best for CRNA preparation? How as a new nurse getting ready for CRNA do you support a family and work as CRNA student?
Thank you! Not sure how many options (of ICUs) you have where you live but it depends on the acuity of the patients that get admitted to the unit. The CVICU at the level 2 hospital I worked at far surpassed the CVICU at the level 1 I worked at as far as exposure to different types of cases. Basically, an ICU that gives you good exposure to vented patients and multiple drips but that's typically any ICU. I started in MICU and transferred to CVICU/CCU to get more experience with hemodynamic monitoring because I anticipate caring for patients with that type of monitoring in the future and didn't want it to be foreign to me. As far as working, it really depends on the person's situation. I have had a healthy savings for years and only have one (now adult) child so my situation is not typical of someone who's married with a few kids. Though it can be done! I would definitely learn how to cut expenses ahead of time and live within/below your means to save. After at least one year working as a nurse, you could consider traveling as a nurse to make extra money. Worst case scenario, banks will loan you all the money to get you through CRNA school but you'd have to make smart choices when it comes to what school you attend (tuition) and how you're going to pay it back. I plan to do a video focused on the finances of being a CRNA student in the future. Thank you for watching :)

I do think I would love CRNA, so I’m going to shadow before taking that path. I also do think nurses should have at least 4 years as a nurse before pursuing NP. One year of nursing is not enough !! It’s so scary how healthcare is changing and making those minimum requirements .
I think you play to the camera to much you act like your in love with yourself its funny since RUclips started all the narcissists have appeared in force all want a bees hollywood types its a joke
I start my 15 month ABSN in January 2023. And CRNA has peeked my interest!
PMHNP have the highest earning potential. Private practice you can do 400k-800k. Nursing is limitless!
I have never heard of a PMHNP getting paid that much!

I just graduated with my adn / passed nclex and now I am considering crna. I went to nursing school to be an aesthetic nurse haha 😄
I like how calming you are in talking about this ❤

LOL thank you! Good luck on your journey :)
There many business opportunities for nurses as well … that make more than CRNA

Totally agree. A lot of nurses do what they don’t like and it is so miserable for them.
I have been watching different videos for a while but yours has been the most helpful. Thank you. I just subscribed to your channel also😉
Love this video! I’m stuck between CRNA and NNP, so this video is perfect! What CRNA school are you going to?

@@NurseKaylana yep! And ratios for cardiac devices or things of that nature too! What should be 1:1 etc
@@Hannah-xg2xq I've got you!
I do 7 on and 7 off as an acute dialysis nurse and it is rough
I hear your body gets "used" to it but I know mine would refuse 😅
People who finished a program under APRN are called Doctor at the end ,?
Only in academic settings

This would be more effective if you were making this comparison from your real life experience and not just regurgitating stuff you found on line.
