About me:
I am a wife, mom and CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist). I went to nursing school to get my ADN, started working and then went back for my BSN. I was a travel nurse for 2 years before starting CRNA school. I loved travel nursing so much but I also love anesthesia so I went back to school to become a CRNA. Fitness is a huge part of my life. I've competed in powerlifting and Crossfit. We are vegan because we are both huge animal lovers. We are also foster parents (awaiting the adoption of our daughter)!

I am a retired CRNA. Provided anesthesia for over 36 years. The USAF paid for my education, however I was an OR nurse first. It was challenging and exhausting as a CRNA, but I found it to rewarding and most of the time it was great. Got along well with most the anesthesia docs. It was interesting that at 3:30 PM we became more knowledgeable and could go it on our own! Many lasting friendships with the docs, other nurses, patients and surgeons was good. I am glad I was blessed with great career.
One day my dream is to become a CRNA!!! i love watching your videos it motivates me to keep working hard💪
I'm glad you like them! Thank you!
Are you a CRNA?
My cousin has been a CRNA for over 7 years and works only two days in a week , which is awesome! 24hr shift and 7 hours
That is a great schedule!
Is that independent or with w-2? Do you have any idea lmao sorry for invading
What area does she work in
This makes me for excited for after school! I’ve seen so many videos where people maybe represent only the bad perspective of scheduling for CRNAs but this seems wonderful! Thank you for the great video.
you have a great mc skill. ur videos and voice just flows. i can tell youre genuinely excited to share the knowledge. ty for the video! looking into crna schools more and more
Thank you I find these videos very helpful and there are only a handful of CRNA creators on youtube.
Thank you and happy weekend!💕☺️
This was very insightful! Thank you for this video, I always wanted a clear idea on CRNA’s schedule
Thanks for all the info Rhianna! Shout out to all the nurses out there!
Your videos are so informational and helpful !
Thank you so much for the information I have been wondering about this for a while. This really helps me by reassuring that being a CRNA is exactly what I want to do :). Thank you!!
Are you a CRNA?
Wow! A CRNA schedule really is more flexible than a staff nurses haha
Yes!
When I was housekeeping I would clean the obgyn surgery rooms (and the regular surgery rooms); furthermore, I cleaned the oncall rooms.
Point is, I met the CRNAs and Drs.
They do a 24, 12, and a 10.
This was so informative!!
Glad to hear that!
Hi @rhianna! How’s 24hr shift works like? Also, can you elaborate more about crna dissertation process? Is it individual, group, is there a class?
didn't know you could work 24 hours as a crna and do the two days a week that's really cool
Very convenient if you prefer longer shifts in exchange for more days off!
Exactly
Aspiring CRNA here!
So have u become a CRNA ???
Very informative. thanks
You're welcome!
I’m currently in LPN school I’m moving up slowly
I want to start as well
Great video! Do you have any anesthesiologist assistants at your hospital? Do they have similar scheduling options as you guys?
Would you be able to break down what a 24 hour shift looks like? What type of breaks do you get ?
Thank you 🙏🏿
Sounds great -how many paid vacation time off are you offered at your facility?
When u work 24 hrs shift, do u still get paid same even there was no call or emergency and u stayed in the call room all night.
Great videos! Do you have to work every other weekend? And if so could you work at night or evening shift during the weekend?
I signed up for a 24 hour shift just to get extra days off a certain week. I'm already dreading it.
You’re Awesome
i’m currently a sophomore in high school doing dual enrollment and i’m glad i can say i know what i’ll be doing after graduation!! this is my dream job seems so exciting. thank you for the insight! 🤍
ME TOO! OMG TWINS
NO CUZ SAME
I just graduated high school and I did dual credit since my sophomore year as well! Best decision ever. It'll get you where you want to be much faster and you save a lot of money in the process :)
Do you have opportunity for picking up like for over time and making more money than your salary?
Do you get to sleep/rest during the 24 hour shift?
New to your channel 💙
How do weekends and holidays get covered? Are they mandatory or optional?
Does anyone just work one 24 per week? Also do you think it’s feasible to work prn only for an entire career? Thanks very much
Hi Rihanna is adult nursing acceptable in bachelors instead of bsn for crna because in my country they don’t offer crna
Just to clarify, At your job or other jobs you know of, are you able to pick and choose which shifts you want, such as varying lengths: 8 hours, 10 hours, 12 hours, 16 hours, 24 hour shifts? Is this only realistic as a 1099 employee, or as a W-2 employee as well?
I am currently in CRNA school and im looking forward to my first Job. I'm worried that I won't have much say in how my schedule is, but any clarification about how a CRNA schedule normally is, that would be great. I hope to work 2-3 days a week if possible. Thank you for any help!

Aspiring CRNA here!
Awesome! Hi!
how would you go from crna to anesthesiologist? what would be the steps?
Hey I’m broke but if I ever run into u I’m buying your meal for all the support and help you’ve given us thank u so much 🙏🏽
I´m a 19 year old and I wanna be a CRNA. Actually I´m in a another country and I'd like to study in the US. Awaiting to start in university or community college. Before that I want to study by myself subjects that I'd need in a future. Any suggestions??
Hey, I think knocking down anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 might be helpful for you in terms of prerequisites. You can find free textbooks online
Did u find crna school to be math heavy? If so, what advice would u give to students who aren’t as comfortable with math?
I think it is math heavy and I’m math illiterate 😂
i believe the math is nothing above basic algebraic equations level maths.
Math was not intensive at all. Just basic calculations 👍🏼
RN schedule is just so not family/woman/mother/father friendly. Kids go to school between 7:30 and 8am. Most shifts start at 6:30am or 7am and then if you work nights you won’t get home until 8am due to giving report and driving. Idk how nurses are supposed to have kids.
It can definitely make things hard!
The trade off is an extra "day off" with the family, but it is still challenging to miss school mornings, soccer practice, and family dinner for half of the week. It also becomes challenging to schedule family events, dates, or get togethers with friends because the amount of "evening time" available is so limited and already maxed out with making up for lost family time on the shift days.
A lot of Nurses I know work weekends overnight so they can be with their kids during the week. Or they work over nights during the week sleep while their children are at school and wake up to go pick them up spend a couple of hours w them and then go to work. It’s manageable if you work as needed to work with your kids.
And keep in mind full time for nurses is 36 hours. So you’re still working less.
Is there overtime for full time CRNAs ?
what kind of breaks do you get during a 24 hour shift?
It depends on where you work and what that day is like. Typically during the day you get breakfast, lunch and dinner breaks. Breakfast is 15 mins, the other 2 are 30. When all the cases finish up for the day you're free. So if you're done at 9pm you can go to the call room and sleep until you get a call for a case or intubation.
Hey , is it common for CRNAs to work 2 24s in a week? I’m asking because I heard you mention it but it is really important to me!
Do you arrive early to surgery prep like around 30 minutes early?
Yes!
what is the max amount of hours you can work per week as a CRNA?
It's just specific for one place, you may work at other places too.
I know some of us working 80hrs a week 🤯
Are there colleges that have 100% online CRNA programs?
Do you get overtime on the days you work more than 8 hours.
Are you from California?
How in the world would anyone be able to work 24 hrs straight while remaining attentive and alert 😭
You aren't actually walking around working for 24hrs straight
@@Ellie-jl3vk do you get to take naps?
They get breaks lol
Can anyone become CRNA in their 40s or 50s?
How old were you when you started your nursing career?
I am 22 almost 23. I just finished my rn program with my ADN. I am trying to figure out what I want to do from here! I am also into investing. I might join your patreon soon
22!
Wow thank you!! You just seem so young ! I inspire to be like you one day! Thank you
@@TheSchoellerFamily I have an interview for a pcu nurse position. Would this be considered critical care for nurse anesthetist school? Should I take the position?
My aunt and uncle are CRNA’s and I want to be one too but with my chronic uveitis school got really hard and my GPA went down to a 3.9 weighted (HS Sophomore) and I’m scared I won’t be able to make it because of how competitive it is. :(
Don’t be scared man. If it’s something you are willing to commit yourself too, it’ll work out.
assuming you’re in america, hs grade does not matter. when you get to college you have a clean slate. You can even start at a community college which is easy to get into and start your nursing career there. For grad school (CRNA school) they only look at your college undergrad grades.
@@najat4339 what do you major in college to become a crna?

Can you get more than 40hrs? And are the schedules your choice?
Do the surgeries start at 7 am or is the prep for surgery at 7am?
Where I work they usually start at 730 so I get there at 7.
Do you find that you're not short staffed as a CNRA when compared to a regular staff nurse? It seems like your hospital has the manpower, which allows those flexible schedules. As a staff nurse, my unit always call me on my days off and ask if I can work. It gets old.
Yes we are shortstaffed as well and there are always shifts that need to be covered. Not every schedule request gets approved so I was speaking theoretically about the shift combos you can work.
@@TheSchoellerFamily I see. Thanks for the reply!
Can a crna work more than 80 hours in a pay period? Or are they strict on that number?
How much does it cost for CRNA course?
She already made a video on this. Adding everything up (including books, application fee, graduation, etc) it all added up to be almost 100k (yikes!)
wait a minute!!! today is Tuesday lol.
I was late! 😅
Do you have Saturday and Sunday off?
did you get dermal filler in your cheeks?
