    About me:
    I am a 2nd year SRNA & ICU nurse. I went to nursing school to get my ADN, started working and then went back for my BSN. I was a travel nurse for 2 years before starting CRNA school. I loved travel nursing so much but I also love anesthesia so I went back to school to become a CRNA. I plan to continue my travel nursing career when I become a nurse anesthetist! Fitness is also a huge part of my life. I've competed in powerlifting and Crossfit. Jon and I own a gym together!

    Hi guys!!! This was a tough one. After editing it I questioned whether or not I was too open about my feelings. But I want to be transparent, so I posted it anyway. I know other people struggle with the same feelings I did (and at times still do) so hopefully this helps. Please share your experiences below if you feel comfortable doing so ❤️ you never know who it might help!

    This is probably one of the most important topics. Self doubt and fear is the hardest obstacle in any career and life in general. Everyone experiences these feelings throughout their life. We should never feel ashamed for having even a little bit of negative feelings or pretend they don’t exist. It’s part of being human and doesn’t make you any less intelligent, capable, or hard-working. Thank you for being so open and honest! This video is motivation alone.

    I left a good job to be able to go to nursing school. Everyone thought I was crazy and questioned my decision. Then in my last year of school, the factory cut personnel and most of my doubters no longer work there. Was I sure of what I was doing? Heck no! But I had plan A, B, C and D and now I'm one board exam away from becoming a CRNA. In closing: It's ok to question your decisions in life but you got to do it anyway. There's a world of chickens out there and someone has to be the predator and eat them all. (I just made that up. I doubt it'll stick. See?)

    one of the best videos! thanks for your honesty and transparency! i absolutely struggle with this everyday and even though i got into crna school and will be starting in august im still unsure if i can do it! thanks for the confidence booster, you're such an asset to the youtube community and the profession. i also definitely feel we create a lot of our own objections either because of past failures or because a lot of people have high standards/high expectations that they feel they will not reach. you're so right about people being overly confident in healthcare and in school and it does make you feel like people know more than you do, seemingly all the time. Thanks for affirming that even if people are having successes doesn't mean that they still don't struggle with confidence and self doubt.

    Thank you for sharing your feelings. I agree I think people in nursing school are very hush-hush about their struggles. I am an extrovert and for me, venting was always helpful. I appreciate your vulnerability because we all have vulnerable moments, simply, some people choose to reflect within.

    Watching everyone’s videos about CRNA school makes me feel overwhelmed and I’m no where near close to even applying lol. I’m a 21 y/o with a year of MedSurg experience. I’m scared to go the ICU so I can only imagine how I’d be in CRNA school. I wish I knew this was something I wanted to do while I was actually in nursing school. My main goal for nursing school was just to do everything I can to get out which has left me with a less than crappy GPA. I start my BSN program in a few weeks and am gonna do what I can to make the best grades that I can. Thanks for the content. I appreciate all the advice 💕.

    You are very inspiring I just graduated nursing school with my BSN and start working as a pediatric nurse in October I'm struggling with what career path I want to take but CRNA school is a top choice. I had the same self doubt I had about getting in to nursing school which I'm sure CRNA school acceptance is very challenging. I'm hoping with some icu experience I can make myself more competitive this seems like a great field to get into when you're ready to leave the bedside but still handle patients !

    Another blogger said to get accepted to CRNA school is the true challenge. That you need to show you've worked as a charge nurse or been a leader in nursing school, basically be above and beyond so that you can MAYBE be considered. Btw I'm a subscriber and love your videos :)

    • @TheSchoellerFamily
      @TheSchoellerFamily  5 лет назад +1

      It is a true challenge for sure! The process is so competitive and even if you do everything right you still might not get in just due to the volume of applicants and limited spots. Applying is a very stressful time. School is also very challenging and long. I think the challenge begins when you apply and ends when you pass boards 😅

    Failed from nursing school in 2014, joined in the military in 2016, served as a dental assistant for 6 years and now I’m a undergraduate student who will graduate in next spring. I’ve been preparing for a dental school but recently changed my decision to become a CRNA, so taking all the pre reqs for a nursing school all again since those classes I took for pre nursing are more than 10 yrs old. Long journey and I am old (30 yrs old). My gpa is okay (3.86) and my science gpa is also not too bad (3.6). However, that self-doubting is holding me back anytime I make any kinds of decision. It kills my soul, my mental health, and my time. I am still struggling with that bad habit (self-doubting) but still doing something. I know I am very far away from CRNA, but I don’t stop. I will never stop. Thank you for the video! It made me think of myself again.

    Thank you for this video! I’m applying for my school’s ABSN program and I’m really nervous about it so i’m so glad you made this :) Would you be able to make a video about conducting research either in nursing or crna school? That has always been one of my biggest fears about going into nursing never having done one myself (and my writing isn’t the strongest either )

    • @TheSchoellerFamily
      @TheSchoellerFamily  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Kristina! I can definitely talk about that. I'm getting started on my research this semester and I also did a big evidence based practice project during my BSN. Try not to worry about the research! It a part of school but not the most important thing in my opinion. They usually guide you through the process very well.

    I have dyslexia, I’m not graduating at the top of my class come Dec 2020, I haven’t made one grade less than an 80 but bc of the harsh grading scale at my nursing I’ve made C in 3 courses plummeting my gpa. I want crna so bad though so I’m going to at least apply and see where I stand post ICU experience, certifications, GRE, and possibly grad level pathophysiology & chemistry. I don’t know if I’m smart enough but I know I’m motivated and it’s been a goal so I’m going to try. Thank you so much for this video ❤️
