Just started looking into this profession (anesthesiologist assistant) . I have been interested in the health field my entire life. Only interested in several fields. Though now I'm much older than probably most. I'm very interested in the this line of work. Always have been. Sometimes some of us will put our needs, wants, dreams well behind others. This is what got me to my older age and nothing to say for it for myself. Though I have little one in raising now. It's also time I start taking time to listen to my own desires. This happens to be one of them. Thank you for sharing this video. Didn't know if they allowed assistance to intubate patients or not.

I am sure she will do a video on this! But, mainly the differences are schooling, pay, and autonomy. As far as the workday goes, they are very similar. I guess if you are wanting to do anesthesia and trying to decide between the two think about what you want to do in undergrad and if autonomy is something that you care about. I am currently in a BSN-RN program and am going to go to CRNA school. If you do not want to go to nursing school, AA Is the way to go. CRNA school requires a BSN and RN licensure as well as two years of RN ICU experience, some schools require less, depends on location/school. I believe that AAs require a science-related Bachelors's and some shadow experience, but I do not think that AA programs require work experience. Again, I am more familiar with the CRNA side of things, but I hope this helps a little bit.
@@mikmiklicayan4483 Hi, hoping I can provide a good answer since I have a BSN and previous background in the sciences. For AA programs they generally prefer science pre-req courses that a pre-med would normally take like Gen. Physics, bio, gen Chem, orgo- Chem, human anatomy, and biochem along with a Bachelor’s degree of any kind. Most of those classes are normally not part of the RN curriculum, so it may be more difficult when it comes to the prework to apply. I have also shadowed both AAs and CRNAs and the jobs are basically the same. However there is MUCH greater independence on the CRNA side and they can practice in all 50 states as well as being able to practice without supervision in certain opt-out states. However, CRNA programs will all require 36+ months of school by 2025 while AA only requires around 25-27 months. You could definitely switch to AA with a BSN, just be prepared to take higher level science courses.

Hi Liz, sorry to hear about your experience under GA. Pseudocholinesterase deficiency is an uncommon genetic disorder that is triggered by the use of the depolarizing muscle relaxant Succinylcholine. Depending on your history, surgery and other medical factors, your anesthesia care provider can develop an anesthesia care plan tailored to your need. They can safely use non-depolarizing muscle relaxants such as Rocuronium or eliminate the use of a muscle relaxant all together during GA (using LMA) if indicated. Spinal anesthesia alone does not require the use of a muscle relaxant therefore it is safe. I hope this helps. 👍 - newly certified anesthesia tech
An anaesthetist tale ? Okay. I do have one, and it's probably time I got this off my chest; and hopefully someone in the loop, in the know, will realise who I am talking about and the individual will get to read it, and understand that she hasn't gotten away with her behaviours at the time past, these things transpired. But it has taken some time, for me to piece it together. In June 1992, at the Warrnambool Base Hospital I was scheduled to have a Caesar section birth, for the delivery of my first child. The anaesthetist's name, was Catherine . (Don't recall sir name). Catherine, really took her time, and I mean really took her time, in getting to me for the procedure after a seventeen hour labour. When she finally arrived , and ready to do the procedure , instructed : now ARCH your back . I took that as meaning a "gymnastics arch" and went to do that and was reprimanded by her , insisting : ”NO ! The other way, the other way." And I said : "oh you mean hunch my back and curl into a ball manner. That's not the same thing as an arch !" So there was a context misunderstanding in the instruction. Then, from that incident onwards, Catherine the anaesthetist , had it in for me , really had it in for me personally. And on every occasion I encountered dealings with the woman, she made things unpleasant. In 1996, after the Caesar section birth of my second child, a son, it was soon after his delivery that she entered the room, and I was wiped out, on pethidine, hooked up to catheter, and she started flat out lecturing me, like grilling me, about NO circumcision on my boy. And I couldn't have even contested her forced opinion even if I wanted to, in that moment. Then, there was a third strike, when my son had to have some of his teeth removed under a general anaesthetic, and the night before the procedure was scheduled, Catherine rang me at home around 8.00pm and specifically asked me : Is there any concerns you have or anything you think I need to know before the procedure tomorrow ? (I was flattered by this gesture, and thought, how conscientious.) ? And responded: my son has general anxiety and would appreciate if it's done sooner, rather than later. She instructed me to be there at 7.00am, after the fast from midnight, including no liquid. At 2.00pm the following afternoon, my son was beside himself and the whole scene that went down, at the Saint John of God hospital, in Warrnambool when my son was about six years old, was a disaster. Catherine, put him in LAST. We were the last ones to be on her list of scheduling on that day. And , the final encounter , was at the south west health care upon my having a complete hysterectomy under a general, and again, Catherine the anaesthetist, had a swipe at me personally, for a mistake with the systems policy and procedures that was a mistake made their end with a mix up, and was thrown at me, for being my mistake. So Catherine, the anaesthetist in Warrnambool, and there wouldn't be an abundance of them, I just want you to know, that : what do you have to say, about my write on these past violations from you, against me personally ? What ? A denial. I am wrong ! OR That I have : "persecutory beliefs" ? There's my "anaesthetist" history interaction. I trust it assists others in : being better at the job than someone with more money, than sense of compassion. Thankyou. She hasn't gotten away with it.
