    Hi Sally! I am interested in pursuing the CAA route and I have loved watching your videos. I do have couple questions for you.
    1) I still have to do a few things for my application including getting my shadowing hours, possibly retaking the GRE and writing my personal statement. When do you recommend getting applications turned in? I know a lot of the schools have different deadlines and that a lot have rolling admission, but what timeframe do you recommend? When did you submit your applications?
    2) I took the GRE last year and got a 156 Verbal, 153 Quant, and a 4.5 Analytical writing and my GPA is 3.96. Do you think I should retake my GRE because of my lower quant score? What were your scores and other CAA students' scores if I may ask?
    3) What would you focus on writing about in the personal statement? I have about 800 hours of patient care experience having worked and volunteered in Physical therapy as an aide, do you think it would be good to include that on the application and on the personal statement?
    thank you!

    Hello,
    Thank you so much for your fantastic content! I have a bachelor's degree in Economics and zero clinical/medical experience. I never pursued a career in the medical field because I didn't want to go to medical school or take the CRNA route, but I've been interested in anesthesia all my life. I'm 25 now and think the CAA might be a suitable pathway for me. I can get through the prerequisite courses just fine; I'm concerned that I will seem like the wrong candidate for not having medical experience. What would be your advice to obtain the hands-on experience I need to be admitted into a CAA program? I feel as though the clock is ticking, and if I'm going to go back to school, it has to be now while I still have the energy.

    Nice video. Very informative. CRNAs and AAs have similarities, but the opportunities for advancement diverge once you get into more critical care, rural healthcare, and full-service anesthesia care where physicians and CRNAs work side-by-side running their own rooms vs. a care team model. Suggamadex for the win!

      There's nothing special abt cRNA's. The advantage they have is their profession started way earlier and they're good lobbyists. Same thing with PA and NPs
      For me i think this agenda cRNA's try to push on a daily of indepence ( i even saw a post where one cRNA said he's better than anesthesiologist and i was perplexed) needs to stop. CRNA's are even pushing for agendas to start supervising CAA's 🤣🤣 man i don't know what this is🤣it's like NPs saying that they want to supervise PA's
      cRNA's and CAA's are assistants to anesthesiologists

      @DRDRDR7809 2 года назад

      Hi @@thatwasantique6708, thank you for your comment. While it doesn’t really affect me either way, I hope you're feeling better now. I'm not sure why you have chosen to comment on my comment, but I'll try to clear it up any confusion on your end. @Anesthesiasal posted a good video about CAAs based on many of the questions asked by her other subscribers. I merely pointed out anything that could help describe the similarities and differences between CRNAs and CAAs because people deserve to know what options/paths are out there. I can't speak to your anecdotal evidence about some CRNA saying something about some anesthesiologist. Inflammatory comments like yours only aim to divide CAAs, CRNAs and MD/DOs trained in anesthesiology. Experienced providers know the credentials behind your name may grant you a position in an anesthesia department, but they do not make you a provider capable of independent thinking or practice, be it supervised or unsupervised.

    hi there! i just came across your video and it is insightful as i’m looking into applying to one of these programs! one thing i did find confusing about your video was the way you described what a CAA is. from what i gathered, CAAs are not PAs. while both practice as extensions of a physician, PAs and CAAs undergo vastly different education and certification/ licensure requirements. Therefore, can CAAs “essentially” be considered as PAs specializing in anesthesia?

    • @Anesthesiasal
      @Anesthesiasal  Год назад +2

      The easiest way to describe it is CAAs are “somewhat” like PAs. That’s the short form of my explanation. Both CAA and PA programs, although different degrees, are about 2.5 years. It’s great that you understand the differences between the two professions! Feel free to educate others as well

      CAAs largely use gaswork.com for employment opportunities.

    • @Anesthesiasal

      California has not approved CAA legislation and will probably one of the last states to do so. As an exception, there are very FEW opportunities in California at the VA hospitals for CAAs, however the pay is significantly less than other markets. Before going into this profession, please be aware that you will be limiting yourself to only those 21 states CAAs can practice in.

      Could you please remember what are the 21 states where we can work and if you can remember the salaries, it's okay?
