I wish the media would highlight this kind of love amongst entertainers more often, especially since we live in a world where so many of us like to pit entertainers (especially female entertainers) against each other.

I watched this again just to look at Natalie Cole. I'm so happy she was part of this celebration of legends. This ceremony reminds us that we shouldn't wait to honor or eulogize someone after their life has ended. Thank you Oprah for honoring Natalie, Coretta, Maya, Dorothy before these great women left us with great legacies and memories.

So many of these lovely women have since passed, I’m glad Oprah took the initiative to celebrate them all while they were here.
Watching this is so emotional for me… all these women have touched so many that’s it’s just remarkable. I can’t even describe it in words. For Oprah to give them their flowers and many have passed on now but they received their flowers and this is beautiful.

I could watch this over and over it NEVER gets old.
All of these Legends exemplify class and dignity and many of them suffered tremendous bigotry and had to overcome racism and sexism. Reality tv portrayal of black women has set back years
So many of these women have since past, I’m so happy they received their flowers, heard the thankfulness, hugged and laughed with each and women that admired them. A life fulfilled, is knowing those you’ve touched with your presence.
WOW. I had no idea Melba Moore and Pam Grier were there too. And Roberta Flack. Even though I missed seeing Aretha Franklin, I understand she was touring/working thus unavailable. How wonderful to see Nikki Giovanni was remembered.
Alicia said it best. These women are the epitome of the strength of African American women.... and it is that strength that gives me, even being a man, the strength to carry on each day. I may not be perfect, I may not be right about a lot of things, but one thing for sure, we all have examples to live by.

I so appreciate planning and attention to details. I noticed Coretta Scott King and others who are physically challenged riding on the cart. That is a sensitivity to detail that I respect.
Being a black woman in America is such a heavy cross to bear because society is constantly putting us down and in some sad cases our men are helping them put us down. I am very grateful that there are black women celebrating one another and expressing thanks to the ones who had to face some of the most unethical, spirit breaking injustices here. Thank you sista's!!!! Black don't crack
Diahann Carroll and Nancy Wilson talking, though! Those women inspire me so much as a musician and performer. A lot of people don't realize how much Diahann has contributed to the world of music, what with performing on Broadway and recording albums BEFORE she became an acclaimed actress on tv/film. And Tina Turner's energy is on another level. Her performances were nothing short of magical.
IT's funny how these megastars were awestruck by each other. Mary J Blige telling Gladys Knight she saved her life and chokin' up. :)

I remember when this aired on TV. My parents were so awed by this. Many of the Legends were they’re generation.
These women make me proud to be a black man. With what they have done, all that they have brought to the Universe and achieved... I’m constantly reminded to work harder, to try harder, to never give up on myself nor my brother. Thank you to every woman who reads this... You are amazing and you don’t get the credit you deserve but it is because of you... Thank you Oprah for your vision, your generosity, your charity. Thank you.

Im not a Mariah fan but here is a bit of truth. TV nor film does any justice for Miriah's beauty, She is an absolute beauty in person, look like she was just freshly created by the hand of God. I saw her in person once at the Mall Of America and I remember saying to myself wow she is the most beautiful women I've ever seen!! even more beautiful in person. But not only is she beautiful, she's a kind hearted person. When she entered the MOA all of the kids were yellg and trying to touch her and her BG was preventing then, somewhat roughly and she just so happen to notice it, and she said, somewhat loudly at them, OH NO, its ok, very firmly and sweetly, she shook their hands, hugged them and sign autographs for them, and believe it or not the kids behaved respectfully. I've had great respect for her ever since. Well thats my story. Lol.

This was held in 2012. More than ten years ago. And quite a few of them have passed already: Tina Turner, Diahann Caroll, Ruby Dee, Cicely Tyson, Maya Angelou, and Della Reese... Only Oprah can put up this gathering of legends... 😊

Brought tears to my eyes, these black women who alot have come from slaves is just a sight to behold, they brought alotbof joy in our homez, we were little and would scream when our people were on TV lol that room has so much talent and grace, so proud to be a black woman
I come back to watch this every so often. This was just so amazing and beautiful to me. I named my daughter after Maya Angelou (she's about to be 9) because her poetry and wisdom had a profound effect on my life when I was a young girl. ✨✨💜
I remember watching this on TV. This was a great way for some of the women to catch up on old times and/or meet with someone for the first time. I know the youngins were grateful for the opportunity to honor the women that paved the way for them.
Women together, sharing honestly with honour, respect, humility and love is one of life's most potent nectars. If you haven't experienced it yet, pray that God will lead you into a context where you can safely give and receive this precious gift. This is so Amazing! I hope these new generation singers learn from these legends. Glad that we still have singers who can be a great diva with great voices. We still have Ariana, Cynthia Erivo, Nicole scherzinger, Tori Kelly Jojo, kelly, beyonce. These are singers who’s gifted with great voices!
