For those of you who thought it was over the top for Oprah to give her guest diamonds, I'm sure she realized that everyone there could purchase their own pair. Oprah did this gesture out of love and respect for such incredible women. Anyway, most of the recipients probably passed the earrings on to a family member or acquaintance who wasn't as financially blessed. So stop criticizing Oprah for being elitist, over reaching, or showy and just appreciate the remarkable woman God has blessed us with so we could be shown how to pass that inspirational torch to those who just want to "spread their wings".

Eriq Carter . Maybe the younger of these amazing women might pass them downbut the older ones wont part with them. Gifting diamonds is a tradition in Africa that goes back before the Queen Of Sheba, as Africa was the wealthiest nation in world.

Eriq Carter Also, these women no matter how rich or famous screamed because someone thought enough about them to do a jester so nice! They are were deeply touched and moved! I don’t anyone of them will depart with those diamonds 💎 only in their will or trust, because they are connected to the memories of the event.

@Mary Lane Behind every great man, is a great woman. She supported, loved, encouraged, and stayed loyal to that man through some very difficult times. A lesser woman would have left. She also birthed and raised their children through those difficult times. Often times, without her husband's help because he traveled a lot. She also helped preserve his legacy after his death. What have you done in your life that comes close?

I loved that statement Oprah made: "I know it was extravagant; and yet it still wasn't enough." When something is truly valuable to you there is really no price you can put to it. There is nothing more important than the legacy we leave from generation to generation. It wasn't about the money to me. It's about giving our flowers to those we love and respect while they can still hear it, smell it, and see it and not wait until they die to do it. That's what spoke volumes to me about this beautiful tribute.

Just because these women are apart of the same profession or have money doesn't mean they're in the same circles. Some of them got to meet for the first time and stand in awe of their idols. These were not all entertainers. There were poets, novelist, speakers, woman from the civil rights era. So many fields were represented. As for the waiters Oprahs house OprahOprah rules she can as she pleases you think they paid behinds were complaining around all these woman of stature and success I think not.

This will go down in History as the best Tribute to Black Women in our life time. The only reason any of us is here,...is to help one another in this life....and keep the focus on God and his son. Color will eventually be gone as an issue.....we all hope.

This epitome of hospitality, love and appreciation was one of the most exquisite and lovely shows of appreciation that I have seen in 50 years. God bless them all and may the Young 'uns never forget this. Mary J.Blige, Alicia Keyes and Phylicia Rashad's reactions were so telling of how deeply touching this was to each women. We are so undervalued and yet we know how absolutely fantastic we are!!!! I hope no black woman will ever forget our special loveliness and our worth to GOD!!!!

This is Oprah Winfrey's greatest achievement. It's amazing how all of these divas came together to celebrate their life's work. There was no ego. Only tears of joy. Yes, we speak your names. Thank you for all you have done for us. Bravo Oprah. Take a bow! Also my favorite artist was there! Janet Jackson!🎊💋🙏

This poem was britantly written by Pearl Clege. Phenemenal and how true. I would have been speechless sitting in that room with Coretta Scott King, Ciecely Tyson, Shirley Caesar, Ruby Dee, Leontyne Price, Maya Angelou, Della Reese, Gladays Knight, Patti Labelle, Diana Ross and so many countless others. This is just unbelievable to have that much talent in one room but that displayed so much love. I mean just thinking about that poem and how they really were trailblazers who opened many doors.
