There is no reduction box. There is a power turbine designed to spin at similar rpm as a normal V8, so about 6500 rpm. What ever reduction is there, is just the normal reduction in the drives. Your story does not add up. Usually ships that use gas generators as propulsion units, being it engines like the LM1500 or LM2500, don't need a reduction in that magnitude. Heck, even if you drove the prop straight off of the HP shaft which you NEVER do, that would be about 9000 rpm at full chuff. Normally a PT on an LM 1500 and LM2500 spin at about 3000 rpm or so, so in order for a big commercial or naval vessel to achieve useable prop speed at say 150-300 rpm depending on ship size etc. it would only need a 10:1 or 20:1 reduction. If it was a water jet propelled ship, then the PT shaft would go straight to the input shaft of the jet pump without a reduction.
