you should try the grenade only runs. i like to spice it up with bringing random grenades in the slots so i've no idea what get's thrown next. I also fill a bag with them in case i need a reload.
another thing i do is similar to the scav strategy you were saying. take little to nothing and build your load out from the people you kill as you survive raids

As someone who has never gotten close to finishing any considerable portion of the quests because I always start playing again at the end of the wipe for some reason tarkov seems like it could never be boring
Streamers are the reason for the never ending wipes, I really wish they would release a version of this game that doesn't wipe, the streamers constantly bander about it but the casual player just has to do the damned grind over and over.
