I was so close of purchasing these General G-MAX for my 2016 RWD Genesis, here in Chicago. Ended up getting the Nexen Winguard Sport 2 for the rear only, and installed them this last winter on my oem 18" winter wheel setup, to try them out. Was really impressed how they handled the snow, rain and all around performance.
I've had a set of these on my old 99 Volvo S70 T5 for a few years and they've been great. I'm in Alabama so we mostly just deal with rain and they're excellent in the rain but we do usually get a couple of light snow days a year and despite the pathetic treatment of the roads here, they do pretty good in the light snow but I usually just avoid getting out in snow because no one here knows how to drive in the snow.
Going to get a new set of these this afternoon. Glad to see these being universally praised. Great tires for the $. Full set mounted and balanced for $725 at my local tire place using 225/45/17's.
Flat isn’t gonna be bad. Hills are going to be the real kicker
Good job as usual Dan. I don't miss the snow from home since I moved to Georgia 😂.
Thanks! The first snow fall is nice then it gets old qiuck lol
Nice video there bud. I just got 22 Accord 2.0T and have been looking at tires for my TE37SL that got grandfathered from my previous Civic. With that said, based on your review of these tires, i guess Ill go with the Gmax As05 myself. My go to tires have always been Continental DWS but i figured I might as well save a few bucks and get with their "budget" brand in General.
Thanks! These are decent for the money. I'm sure the dsw's are slightly better, but not sure how much
Bro your car and you did a great job and those tired are pretty good for the snow
In Mn you would get Stuck no matter which tires you have. The car is too low and the snow gets underneath the car because it’s super low! Definitely need an AWD
I haven't experienced snow with mine yet, but I went with 235 45 19.
I love your accord ❤fun to drive
Great video !
Thanks!
Good job. Thank you.
Great video brother! How’s the road noise compared to your good years? My 2.0T has Michelins OEM
Thank you. Road noise is way less although still not a quiet cabin by any means
Thanks for the video, I got the same tires on my 2.0 , the turning radios is way better
Loved these tires on my tuned 18 Elantra sport. Waiting for these Michelins to wear out so I can get some. They are just baby DWS06s
Yep General is a sub company of Continental. Just like BFGoodrich to Michelin
I’m about to pull the trigger on some tires soon. What are your thoughts on these tires after some time and miles?
hey man I watch you rip it all the time I was wondering how often you change your engine oil?? I change mine every 5k no exceptions
Yeah same, usually between 4&5k miles all depends on how hard I've been driving
Hello Dan, Do you still running this setup for winter? Being a 245/40 how was it on winter driving consider breaking, stopping on snow, slush and ice?
All in the video
hey, Is your car lowered, does that help with the snow ?
Thank
Hmmm I never got a warning on my car when it randomly just stopped at a four way stop in the middle with nobody around me that was pretty terrifying.
Yeah...not a fan of that feature
Where you from brother? Looks like they do pretty good. That wet heavy stuff is the hardest to drive in.
Long Island NY
I’m sold on buying these tires but I have one question. So When it’s dry out do these tires preform better then the original tires in terms of speeding and hitting corners at high speeds ? Or did u Find the originals better for performance in the summer or dry roads
I would say they are about the same maybe a little better. Definitely much quieter and absorb the road better
@@DanVilla7so you’re saying we can actually buy this tires and replace the original ones for the entire year? Summer and winter? Please confirm so i can go ahead and buy these
@xCapiiX yes they are all season tires
@@DanVilla7 amen bro, i have the base model LX and i wanted to try them on it, what u think is worth it?
Great video dan this channel is very helpful my guy. Question I need new tires on the accord I’m looking at Michelen pilot sport 4 all seasons. I want to go a size up 245/40/19 can you tell me what the advantages/disadvantages would be and if you think I should go up a size. Appreciate the help
I don't feel there are any disadvantages. Going with that size will give you better ride quality and better traction, win win
@@DanVilla7 SOLD! I’m going 245/40/19 then thanks
So it’s 245/40/19 correct that will fit perfect? Because I have people telling me 245/45/19 is better to put on?
Yes 245/40/19 the other size will have an even bigger sidewall
@Reynosojrr ...how are the upsize tires doing...is it a good ride. I have a 2021 Accord Sport 2.0T and thinking about doing it.
Hey i was looking at buying these tires tomorrow at my dealer but i heard they dont last very long how many miles have you put on them and did they last? Do you still have them? I noticed this video is a year old.
I purchased my generals 3 years ago. I put 30k, and I’m down to 30% treadwear.
How are they now?
They were good got a bit noisier towards the end. I sold the car over the summer
Quick question bro, can I use those tires without using the spacers? Or do I need put the spacers on? Because I have a 2019 accord as well
Absolutely no modification needed. My car was already lowered with spacers when I decided to get these.
Will these fit on my stock 2020 honda accord sport with no mods. I have no spacers so I’m worried they’ll rub when turning.
There's plenty of clearance you could go wider if you wanted
The factory tires on my wife’s accord suck lol. Never checked, do they come with summer or all season?
They come with either Goodyear touring All season or Michelin Primacy all season tires neither one good lol. Mine came with the Goodyears
The 2.0t come with the Michelin Primacy, and the 1.5 come with the Goodyear. Some 1.5 also will come with the Michelin Primacy.
@@nenettramsarran4767 That's incorrect... 2018-2020 2.0t sports come with Goodyears like mine. Bought mine brand new
Dose your car makes a weird noise not loud but noticeable while the heat running! Please let me know.
Yeah it’s Hondas man they make it sound like your engine is running loud it’s just the fan behind your glove box
@@rubencoolidge354
No bro, it was a transmission issue. I ended up getting rid off the car unfortunately after 8 months of ownership. It was a brand new 2.ot . I will never go back to Honda.. they’re becoming trash.. the cars and customer service
@@MRNagiii that sucks man yeah it seems they lost there quality I have 19 civic and I always regret financing it definitely should’ve gone with a Toyota speaking they make a whole sedan in awd now lessons learned good luck to you bro
@@rubencoolidge354
Yeah bro.. I traded that crap for a Camry TRD and I’m loving it. I finally can sleep with a peace of mind. Good luck on your civic too
When u gona dyno it? I wana see the whp numbers with ur setup.
No plans to dyno
How are these in fresh powder snow?
They are pretty good no complaints from the few times I've driven them in snow
i use those tires on my wife 2015 Accord and nokian hakkapeliitta on my 2018. the Nokian have better grip but the very loud. so is a trade is all depends of NY winter. LOL
That's also a dedicated snow and ice tire can't really compare the two
How tinted are your windows bro
25% 3m premium film the gopro makes them look a bit darker
@@DanVilla7 it looks dope bro might tint mine 25%
Thanks 👊
@@DanVilla7 Wait how? Doesn't NY prohibit going below 35??
@@Oskar0424 technically you can't have any tint in ny. Basically tint at your own risk, and know a shop that will pass your inspection
I got stuck with these going up a hill smh lmao
I haven't been on any steep hills with mine but I haven't gotten stuck once with them so far. Rwd on a hill will preform better than fwd because of the weight transfer. Probably more the do with that than the tires.
Too much music
I’m about to pull the trigger on some tires soon. What are your thoughts on these tires after some time and miles?
Overall I'm happy with them. I have noticed a little increase in road noise but other than that great for the price
