They're cheaper and get the productivity part down. There's a lot of relief that background or browser tabs apps don't guzzle power either. I could get an extra 1hr of time by quitting system tray apps on my ZenBook x86, and I no longer worry on my MacBook. They're not ready for serious games, but casual older games are fine. Many serious apps don't run, but for a college student, they may not matter that much. For programming, they're fine too. Pycharm, Visual studio, Anaconda, clion are all available on arm. You can also run arm ubuntu but I haven't tried WSL on them. Virtualbox is not available yet. They don't even do emulation, mostly virtualization. VMware player is available. Excellent for staying off the charger, and you could affordably get a lot more ram and ssd storage than on a Mac. Personally, I got a refurb Mac. 17 hours browsing, 9 hours on handbrake, on battery. So I can continue running handbrake while getting more endurance than my precious laptop :D.

Snapdragon X Elite 🔋🔋🔋💪
They barely work on most apps.
@@krispcodeyour statement is straightforward not true
When you taste the power of the LG Gram, to have a lightweight laptop with a big screen, you cannot take something else.. even if there is a lot of drawbacks with the lg gram..
Ya some people just want a big screen on a light laptop. I agree the LG gram isnt perfect but its great for that
Got a ASUS ROG STRIX G17 😅 because I’m not studying anymore and my old laptop kinda is showing its age
Why does no one talk about Laptops from Costco
you literally get the Lenovo Ideapad slim 7i, intel Evo, 32 gb ram, 1Tb ssd, 14 inch OLED display, for 849$
Lenovo Yoga 7x snapdragon cpu 32gb ram yada yada for 1299 US
I don't see why people don't consider this, is there any major issue i need to be wary of of laptops from Costco?
Asuszenbook14X OLED 2.8k i5-13500H is a Great laptop. (I use it for school everyday)

Anyway have a rundown on intel ‘u’ processors. I got a laptop 10 years ago with a u proc. Horrible for everyday tasks. Wonder if they have improved considerably. Most of the ~350 laptops have that
LG Gram lineup should switch to Ryzen Zen 5 instead.
Matt, please make an AMD list. The current intel fiasco right now is appalling
Will you be able to make a review of zephyrus g16 with a new ryzen ai 370 hx cpu ?
Yup!
btw, as a student, just find used last gen flagships
The iPad does not yet have the capability to act nearly as good as a windows laptop or mac laptop. It may have the performance, but not year the same experience and also the iPad has a small screen 11inchs, most laptops are in the range of 13-16 inches and what he did not tell you about is the cost of the keyboard and case, which could rack you up $200 or more. Please just go for a laptop I like windows but try both at your local best buy or something.
Awesome Video Matt. You got our backs 🙌
Thank you!
Your video contains very reasonable suggestions. In my preference list, I would put them in this order:
1) MacBook Air
2) Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x
3) iPad with keyboard, pencil and a WWAN module
And the optimum: the combination of 1) and 3)
Thanks! Everyone will have a different order depending on needs but thats a good order too
Old Ipad?!? Hard pass
Chromebooks?!? Hard pass
Now an M chip MacBook Air with 16 GB of RAM or refurbished ThinkPad T14s Gen 4 are great choices. Also, refurbished Dell Latitude 7440 for those in business/accounting/economics.
Why would you recommend obsolete laptops at purchase? The spectre is a great laptop but its been discontinued and will be locked out of copilot festures. Not everyone values AI, i don't, but that's how the market is going. I dont understand why you would recommend someone buy something that's outdated out of the box.
HP elitebook or Thinkpad X series is the way to go
Is 16gb memory good enough for windows 11?
yes
Everyone wants that Hawk Tuah Point AMD processor. Thanks Matthew!
Meme's already old.

"Hawk tuah point" nah I'm rolling on the floor 😂
I got my asus g14 for 1100 at best buy newest generation. Unfortunately it is back up to 1600.
Ya they increased the price again.. If it was 1100 Id recommend that over the slim
Back to school?! It's August 3rd!😤
The hp spectre sale ended 😢
microsoft surfaces and asus laptops below 15 inches.
Please dont recommend intels 13th or 14th gen laptops. These has corrosion over time. Thats the reason why asus made them cheaper.
How about the core ultra
@@RyanMilbrod-n4w Apparently the instability issues are mostly affecting CPUs with more than 65w of TDP and core ultra falls under that range. But I'd still avoid any 13th/14th gen intel laptops regardless since there's no real way of telling. Plus AMD zen 5 got released recently so now so we'll be getting more laptops that come with those.
@@amitkulkarni3922 I just got a spectre with the 155h but I’m scared now
But I'm already in school. It started 2 weeks ago
Well done.
Chromebooks for school are not an option
You will run into a wall where you can't do something
So tired of Canadian reviewers giving prices in USD!
You don't want the Canadian prices. They are depressing.
@@MatthewMoniz unfortunately I am Canadian.
if you buy an iPad as a computer you are in for a ton of stress
ZenBook S16?
Its nice but a bit expensive
Review zephyrus g16 amd version

Dead meme.
Nobody likes school
These are not back to school laptops🤦, Go edit title and put "slim laptops I want, pretty expensive though"
7:50 Bruhhhh... 🤣 maybe that shoud be amd's next naming for future ryzen apu's
Very important for PPTs 😂😂
not Matthew with them HAWK TUAH Lmfao
the 500 dollar envy is $1100 in India. Wow. Fucking taxes.
These prices are only great in the US. Every where else it's a different story
hawk tua point? xd
this seems like it should be cringe but it actually wasnt, gj xd
The name of the video will lead to lesser views
ChromeBook Who uses them, like total failure
Iam a cs engineering .can i use loq
hawk tuah point is this guy fucking serious lol
hp = hinge problem
hawk thwa point ryzen cpus😂
The hock tua reference and then subtle wink, alone, makes this video a 10 out of 10.
Soo.....Razer.....MSI.....Dell....NONE of those guys came out with ANY "good" back to school machines!?.......Hmmmm.....
Me love, want and need the Asus or the Lenovo. ❤❤❤❤
School starts on Monday. Still don't have a laptop. It's too expensive, even the second hand one, still can't afford to buy one. 😢😂😂
@MatthewMoniz giveaway giveaway giveaway HAHAHAHA
My mom bought one kislux and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
