I got a second hand FrameWork 13 AMD 7640, and 32GB ram for 900$, and it has been wonderful to have an extremely powerful, forward thinking and modular laptop. For those on a tighter budget, FrameWork offers Factory Seconds of 11th gen Intel laptops, for nearly $600. This doesn't include an SSD or Ram though, but you can get whatever 2 sticks of ram and 1 ssd that suits you, and upgrade later. The reason why the extra price makes sense, to me, is because they will continue selling upgraded motherboards every year for their 13" and 16" chassis. Currently the 7640 MoBo is $420, and a new Intel Core series is about to be released. Imagine trying to find a new laptop for that amount!! You can even turn the old motherboard into a desktop with their 3dprintable case, so there's no waste at all. I love how it all comes together, and if you're looking for a long term laptop that you can upgrade as you need, I don't see any other laptop manufacturer doing what Framework is doing.
got a g14 for 750. It's the perfect laptop for the price, it literally is a mini PC but inside a laptop and it's soo slim. The build also is impeccable.
What outstanding choices of channels with whom to collab!! I watch all these channels - each video they put out, regardless of topic. I also love how you put Notebookcheck Reviews, whose channel is quite small but produces A+ content (same with Just Josh, though his is a little bigger). Of course, JT and Moooniizzz are heavy hitters, so everyone knows them, and obviously we all are watching them as well (if you're not, you really need to be; if you want to buy any laptop and JT made a video about that laptop, it is a cardinal sin not to watch his review before buying). Anyway, just thought it was cool of a channel this size to showcase some smaller or medium size channels. Thanks for another great video, HC.
I recently got a really good deal via HP. I was able to snag an HP Pavilion Plus 14, OLED/120HZ screen, Ryzen 7 8845HS, and 32GB of RAM for $950. I think overall, I saved ~35% total.
I got the same model but with 7840u and 16gb ram for about 750usd. Hopefully I don’t regret getting one that’s without a touchscreen display since I’m enrolling into college end of this month!

Shoutout for the Framework 13. I have the AMD 7840u with 16gb of ram, and it has not given me a single issue this past year. Completely repairable and upgradable with clear and well written documentation, so this laptop is guaranteed to last a while. I use photshop extensively, do some heavy gaming, and while performance under the REALLY demanding games leaves quite a lot to be desired, the laptop performs extremely well for all my tasks and has a decent enough battery life to get me through all of my needs.
I recently picked up a like-new secondhand EliteBook 845 for ~$380 and upgraded it with a 1TB SSD (planning on bumping the RAM up from 16 to 32GB as well) No other person in my vicinity has such fancy all-metal laptop. I honestly don't get why people buy new budget laptops - they are just a crappy plastic version of the good ones which can be had dirt cheap second hand :)
I'm surprised no one is talkin about the Intel Nuc X15, coming with an Intel i7-12700H, Intel Arc A550M Graphics, 16Gb of ram and 1tb of storage for under 600 dollars. Kind of a hidden gem when it comes to a work laptop with capabilities for light and mid range gaming.

If you are in Canada and need a laptop for cheap, hit up Canada computers, they have refurbs under the desk for as low as $300 bucks. Most of what these guys mentioned are wayyyy overkill for what you'll need in post secondary. (I did it with no laptop)
With a good sale on memory and storage + Linux for your OS, a Framework 13 with the 7840U squeaks just under $1200. By many objective measures, it's worse than the listed laptops, but the subjective quality of upgradability and repairability is still potentially important enough to make the laptop worthy a mention. Matt's absolutely correct about looking for deals, though, which Framework doesn't really do. For example, in July this year, the 4060 G14 dropped to $1099 while it's normally $1299.
The zen 2 chip on the 7520U I found on a laptop micro center was selling for 399.99 USD with 1tb storage and lpddr5 ram (the other versions are just a waste of money), however, for heavier loads it could struggle for more resource hungry tasks. I'd personally go for the zenbook s16 with the new ryzen ai chip & integrated graphics if I was in comp sci classes as it's not a terrible deal with student discount and will get most stuff done fine.
I recommend anyone who want to save some money to buy the refurbished hp elitebook laptops, even a gen 5 will get you through the college and if you buy gen 6,7 to onward you can absolutely, totaly rely on it for programming major, elitebook series has the best keyboard in business, and they are business laptops and built so good and pleasing to everyday use, lightweight and premium, there metal gets cold in winter and I love that.
What about the student that would like to game or has heavy homework workloads? Do you recommend they buy 2 laptops? What if they have graphic design, audio or video NLEs or 3D engineering needs? Business in the streets, freak in the sheets? Laptop in the backpack, Desktop in the bed/dorm room?
Amd's Strix Halo will do that for you. I dont think it is out until early next year. Maybe paper launch this year. But it isn't going to be cheap. 40 compute units is a lot of silicon
that's the thing about heavy computer tasks, college, etc. Many people cannot afford every last thing to improve their quality of life and that's okay. realistically rent is crazy rn and not everyone can afford to go into certain fields etc. do what you can yk.
These mid range laptops are not good options if you have heavy workout, graphics designing or some engineering stuffs you need the expensive options atleast 32gb ram a powerful GPU and if you're a buisness or most humanities students you don't need 8cores 16threada CPU and 8gb ram is enough.

still recommend the macbook air m1 to everyone who asks me. 4 years later, it's still as fast as when i got it. apple giving up on the wedge design for the air series is one of their worst recent moves.
had a 4gb laptop for like 2 years. Ran Ubuntu on it through WSL and did all my programming. 16 gb is good but you dont actually need that much unless ur system actually demands it.
Yeah 8gb is fine ,but only today , trust me, almost nobody use laptop for short period of time aside rich people. So if you pick laptop with 8gb of ram make sure it have atlteast one sodimm slot
I'm smiling at all the various channel hosts. Seems no brained to go with a macbook air with 16 GB ram as longterm investment to get you into university. That's a Lenovo guys recommendation.
A 2-in-1 is way superior to a laptop, and beats having to lug around a tablet. I just picked up Lenovo Yoga 7i with a Ryzen 7 8840H, and OLED screen for $1150 direct from Lenovo.
Would be nice to see some 2 in 1 recommendations for studying and a tablet experience anything else but with windows of course... don't want to deal with a typical tablet os or chrome books

Im thinking of buying a lenovo yoga 6slim(amd ryzen 5 7540u) or huawei matebook d14 (2023) (i5 12th gen). Which of these has the better battery life or is better in generel or if there are any better ones for around 600€
Aliexpress sells cheap power barel connectors to USB C for different voltages. They work great. I can use my USB power adapters to power older 19 Volt HP barel connector laptops. Up to 100 W without a problem. And I buy my laptops (Yes I own 4 of them) with a small SSD and replace it with a fast (Samsung 990 Pro for example) 2 TB SSD. The performance of the standard included SSDs is often not great.
Hi! I'm looking for a laptop for studying computer science. I prefer a lightweight, portable model without a dedicated GPU, as I'll primarily be using it at university. And also I would appreciate a good keyboard and high-quality screen. I've identified four laptops that stand out within my budget. Assuming they are all on sale in my country and prices are all the same ,which one is the best choice? 1- Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 (14' ) with Ryzen 8840HS, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 60 Hz WUXGA OLED Display 2- Huawei Matebook 14 with Ultra 7 155H, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 120 Hz 2.8K OLED Display 3- ASUS Zenbook 14 with Ultra 7 155H, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 60 Hz WUXGA OLED Display 4- ASUS Vivobook S15 with Ryzen 8845HS, 32 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 120 Hz 2.8K OLED Display
acer swift go 14 oled, metal body, ultra 7 155H, 32gb, 90hz Oled, 2usb thunderbolt, 2 usb A, full sized HDMI. 100-200$ cheaper than the zenbook 14 oled and hp pavilion plus oled, while having better ports , sure it lacks on somepart like design and "90hz" display but other than that its pretty good deal
Man. So many laptops I only need it for daily use. Playing Rocket league over 120 fps would be sick though. I don’t want to break the bank though. I’m also on discounts through Lenovo what u recommend?

Where is the thinkpad ? The T14 especially, still has upgradable RAM and SSD which makes it cheaper than say getting 1tb ssd and 32GB ram when configuring
I have a Acer aspire A6 and bought it for youtube watching and emails....recently had to do 5 x8hr zoom meetings with no other windows open and it kept saying low resources and watching tutor videos, sound was fine but picture was frame stuttering like at 2fps,unwatchable and irritating....i also just with youtube at 480p the cpu is running in 90-100% range,i cannot watch 720p with 48meg connection via wifi with excellent signal....will a dell inspiron 16 5635 improve my all round life here?
I recently got the MSI Modern 14 C12m with a core i5 1235u, its only got 8gb RAM but for web browsing and simple word processing, even light gaming it does the job, its usually very cheaply available and has lovely extras for the price, like backlit keyboard, usb c charging and nice screen, battery isn't the best, but enough for a day with light usage, and fine for school. goodluck fellow students!!!
I picked myself a framework laptop 13 for this year and I'll see where it'll get me. I liked the fact that I could buy the memory myself and the storage as well. Made me save a few bucks but also I got to choose which drive/memory I buy to get the speed I want. For now it works pretty well, the only ick is that the battery isn't the best. I last around 10 hours taking notes and opening a few tabs and a video, it's good for me but some people might want more than this so I just say it.
tbh the 500-800 price range is not great unless there is good discounts. below 350 is not great and above 800 id reccomend s16 but the zenbook has heat issues so id wait till there is a laptop that alleviates those issues otherwise id recommend that
So guys i still confuse to choose in 2024, asus vivobook s14 ryzen 5 7535hs vs ideapad slim 5 ultra core 5 125h for office and some medium games, please give me comment 😢

had a 4gb laptop for like 2 years. Ran Ubuntu on it through WSL and did all my programming. 16 gb is good but you dont actually need that much unless ur system actually demands it.
Yes, especially for most humanities and business students you'd never use 16gb, heck some get away with chromebooks and tablets.
Yeah 8gb is fine ,but only today , trust me, almost nobody use laptop for short period of time aside rich people. So if you pick laptop with 8gb of ram make sure it have atlteast one sodimm slot
Nah the moment you need to set up a VM or work with a DB Manager you start to wish you had more RAM
Lenovo flex 5i but it does die to hinge failure after a few years
The surface with x elite is rly speaking to me. Hope they'l be able do iron down and bring a better app support to arm in 2 years(maybe even bring the price down a bit(my optimal configuration was 2k💀) or at least improove the gpu so i'l be worth the money). I still have 2 years of highschool left and my alr 4yo tuff f15 with i5 10300h and gtx1650ti m is still decent but rly beaten up. Like REALY BEATEN UP.
Is it normal for people to get a new laptop every year ?
I kept mine for four years now
Im thinking of buying a lenovo yoga 6slim(amd ryzen 5 7540u) or huawei matebook d14 (2023) (i5 12th gen). Which of these has the better battery life or is better in generel or if there are any better ones for around 600€
Also check out lenovo ideapad 5 2 in 1 gen 9.
Which laptop will you recommend for some one who wants to study computer network technology and have a career as a computer engineer?
Nice combo
Love seeing jarred here
Guys, is the Asus Proart with AMD Ryzen AI 9HX, 64 GB RAM, 2 TB storage, and RTX 4070 good enough to run notepad?
Absolutely
1- Lenovo Yoga 7 2-in-1 (14' ) with Ryzen 8840HS, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 60 Hz WUXGA OLED Display
2- Huawei Matebook 14 with Ultra 7 155H, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 120 Hz 2.8K OLED Display
3- ASUS Zenbook 14 with Ultra 7 155H, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, 60 Hz WUXGA OLED Display
4- ASUS Vivobook S15 with Ryzen 8845HS, 32 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 120 Hz 2.8K OLED Display
acer swift go 14 oled, metal body, ultra 7 155H, 32gb, 90hz Oled, 2usb thunderbolt, 2 usb A, full sized HDMI. 100-200$ cheaper than the zenbook 14 oled and hp pavilion plus oled, while having better ports , sure it lacks on somepart like design and "90hz" display but other than that its pretty good deal
Hi I’m looking for a laptop for school and i do graphic design which one would you recommend
would we see any huawei laptops on the channel soon ?
Man. So many laptops I only need it for daily use. Playing Rocket league over 120 fps would be sick though.
I don’t want to break the bank though. I’m also on discounts through Lenovo what u recommend?
hey, i think i might be able to help you out if you could tell me where you’re based/buying your laptop and what your budget is! i’d be down to help you out on discord if you’d like, it’d be easier for both of us that way.
second hand I've got a 2yr old zephyrus G14 for 680$ wih rtx 3050Ti, 16gb ram, 1Tb of ssd and with a ryzen 9 5900HS, and a 1440p 120Hz display
I was frantically searching for the zenbook 14 oled amd and they were so overpriced. I came to the description to see if there was a link for the laptop, there was but only for the intel version. For the amd version, he wrote good luck 😭😭.
Our schools supply the kids with their own laptops if they need it which is ideal
Which country?

Which laptop would you reccomend for running an EGPU
Where is the thinkpad ? The T14 especially, still has upgradable RAM and SSD which makes it cheaper than say getting 1tb ssd and 32GB ram when configuring
I wanna buy a laptop that comes with a digital pen. Do you have any suggest for me ?
"Yes dad its for school"
Why does the zenbook have 2 designs? One has ASUS while one has the A design. What’s the difference?
One with the ASUS lettering is the intel edition and the other one with a different design and small lettering is the AMD edition
What can you say abt the acer swift go 14inch oled with the evo core i5 13500h,2.8k 90hz 16:10 oled display for around $655
I have some computer accessory products that I would like to send to you for testing. How can I contact you?
Heard a lot of negatives about the HP Envy.
If the ram is soldered you might forced to use linux or tiny 11 due of insufficient ram someday
Hp spectre x360 ultra 7 155H 1TB SSD 16GB RAM or MacBook Air M3 13 inch...
Kindly suggest a best laptop for university student
why does no one mention used laptops. they are incredible deals. i only paid 320 usd for a great condition thinkpad p52, t470p is also a good option
Please match the timestamps to the laptop rather than who's saying it...
Jarred cameo was unexpected
Can we have some Used Laptop recommendation?
Used price is very inconsistent, so guideline make more sense
I picked myself a framework laptop 13 for this year and I'll see where it'll get me. I liked the fact that I could buy the memory myself and the storage as well. Made me save a few bucks but also I got to choose which drive/memory I buy to get the speed I want. For now it works pretty well, the only ick is that the battery isn't the best. I last around 10 hours taking notes and opening a few tabs and a video, it's good for me but some people might want more than this so I just say it.
tbh the 500-800 price range is not great unless there is good discounts. below 350 is not great and above 800 id reccomend s16 but the zenbook has heat issues so id wait till there is a laptop that alleviates those issues otherwise id recommend that
So guys i still confuse to choose in 2024, asus vivobook s14 ryzen 5 7535hs vs ideapad slim 5 ultra core 5 125h for office and some medium games, please give me comment 😢
any recongation for engineers who may or may not need to run CAD programs??
