I found a spare crystal and matching bezel for my Hamilton 992B and made it into a salesman's model with display front and back. It is suspended from a stand on my desk beside my computer screen, softly ticking while the balance merrily oscillates away. Perhaps the best part is winding it every morning. The crown mechanism is precise but robust. Btw, it runs at +/- 4 sec/day. Not bad for a 70 year old timepiece.

My 100+ year old Ball Railroad Standard by Waltham cost me about $300, and about the same to have it cleaned and serviced. The porcelain dial is nearly pristine and with 17 jewels it keeps good enough time to carry as a timepiece. If you consider the history, the decorated movement, the very cool lever setting mechanism that you have to remove the front bezel to access (a safety feature to prevent railroad watches from getting accidentally reset by the crown), I don't think there's a better value in watches than a vintage pocket watch. You can also find vintage pocket watches from high end brands like Omega for a fraction of what their current products cost.

I've spoken with veterans who toured in Afghanistan and they loved their gshocks.

The coolest watch as described in this video is definitely the casio mdv-106. Its got simple cool dive watch aesthetics and mine has took a beating for years on land and at sea and keeps on ticking while still looking great. I took a train ride recently and compaired my watch to the conductors and they were synced to the second. I only change the time twice a year for daylight savings and set it by an "atomic" clock. 4 years, no battery changes.

Coolest watch for not much money would be be the G-Shock DW5600E-1V. Certified by NASA for space flight, holds a Guinness world record for being run over by a 27 ton truck and surviving. It has graced the wrist of Keanu Reeves in Speed.
Alternatively you could go for the Sturmanskie 33mm. A watch in its original proportions worn by the first Man in space: Yuri Gagarin. A Poljot Strela with a white dial, gold indices and hands with a blue chronograph second hand. It was worn by Alexei Leonov, the first Man go out into the vacuum of space for 12 minutes.
Or you could go for the other moonwatch, the 43mm Bulova Lunar Pilot. The Original one worn by Dave Scott on Apollo 15 was the first watch privately owned to be worn on the Moon. It sold at auction for $1.6 Million. You can't have his actual watch but a recreation in its original proportions in comparison to its 45mm brethren. With an ultra accurate mecha-quartz movement you can have true Lunar heritage and Speedmaster looks for a tenth of the price of an Omega.

I wish they would upsize the Manhattan just a little, because it’s gorgeous. At 37mm, it’s just a tad too small for a lot of guys.

I’ve been collecting Casio Gshocks since 1984. I have about 30 of them in different colors all daisy chained together. I’d have more but some were lost or broken. It was Casio’s calculator watch that started my weird collection

Zelos Swordfish, I got mine for $299 it has an original design, a cool sandwich dial and all the specs you would ask for in a high end luxury timepiece.

My 7 year old TImex Weekender. The indiglo is indeed a very cool feature. Not to meniton the loud ticking noise that makes the watch sounds even cooler

So true. I have a great watch collection of casios, G shocks, Invictas, swatches, then up the ladder s little to citizen, luminox, Armour lite, etc.

Defakto has some very cool minimalist Bauhaus pieces, I would take a look if you like minimalist dial designs that are practical every day wearers

Yeah I have a feeling Ickler doesn’t make or sell a lot of them, they’re more of a B2B marketing tool, a sample of what they can do for larger manufacturers interested in their case making, which is their main business. They’re solid watches though and will last you a very long time with periodic servicing that should be inexpensive since they use ETA movements

    GA 2100
Seiko 5 sport with blue sunburst dial &
Tissot heritage visodate quartz (instead of PRX).

I totally agree with the "Casios" I own the grey and I agree it is pretty cool. I also just purchased a new DWB5600-G translucent blue and it's really cool as well.
Actually, come to think of it, all my Casio's are cool..👍🤪😍

That GA2100 is a beautiful watch. However the "coolest" iteration (the "stealth" model), is simply too damn hard to read. If they'd only made the hands just a bit whiter/brighter, this would be a huge improvement.
