It's kinda tragic that the one that was fighting for humanity was their enemy morally speaking, while Heracles was their enemy by the rules, yet he was an ally of theirs in terms of philosophy. This way it makes it much harder for the readers to know who to root for...
I just stick to the numbers, of humanity loses then they all go extinct and it’s ridiculous to think Heracles would convince the other thousand gods to do otherwise especially considering that Poseidon is dead. So yeah, jack for the win.
I mean, not really. I, personally, was rooting for the man fighting to save humanity from extinction, even if he was a serial killer rather than the human turned god who was actively betraying humanity while talking all about how he loves humanity and wanted to save humanity. Unless Heracles was forced into this competition or his plan from the beginning was to basically throw the match, then he actively chose to participate in the extiction of humanity. Jack was fighting to save countless people at the end of the day. Heracles was fighting to anihalate countless people.
@@lenny_has_arived6679 bro he was going to try persuade the gods into sparing humanity after the match, he also didn't want to kill jack at the start asking him to forfeit the match to save his soul.
Jack is legitimately intriguing as a character and that just elevated this fight to new heights by showing the juxtaposition between the relatively simple minded Heracles and Jack
I don’t really think herc is simple minded he’s just steadfast in his belief the fight for me was about how good humanity can be I actually like herc as a character and it’s intriguing that the gods even though they hate humans they love and respect Hercules and actually gets pissed when he dies
I understand where you're coming from Perhaps my wording could've been different but I didn't mean simpleminded in the sense of being dumb or anything...I just wanted to communicate how clearly understandable his motives are as opposed to Jack and his warped complex psyche
Bevon Mclean I know what you mean. This fight was the typical hero v villain, where the villain constantly makes new, cunning ways of defeating the hero, but in the end the hero, with nothing but his trusted skill, strength and heart would win the day. Selfless v selfish Hero v villain Heart v mind In the end, Jack won, but you wonder if Hercules was actually trying to win, as he would always be an ally of justice and humanity.
@@TK-oj8dt Herc has an easy to understand motive and ideal not that he himself is simple. Jack on the other hand you really never can tell what's going on in his head or what he's doing. However if you wanna strip jack down to his core He's just a lonely kid that got the shit beat out of him by the world
Kinda weird how I ended up feeling bad for Jack, even though he was scummy. Hell, I even got annoyed when the crowd was booing him and throwing stuff at him!
I couldn't care if it was hilter fighting for humanity. I be cheering that man on as he is not worse or better than any other human its only his action that are deplorable not him as a person
A important part of this fight is how Jack sees the world: as colour that reflects the hearts of people. Even in his early childhood the only thing he could take solace in was his mothers colour, which he he assumed was the colour of love and when he found out that this wasn't the case, that she just wanted to use him and he killed her he saw a new colour, that of fear. This informed all his actions afterwards because for him the only thing that he could understand as joy was the colours of other people so from there he shared that joy by dying people in his new favorite colour. This is where Heracles comes in. He confronts him with no hatred in his heart, only pure love and is even willing to lay down his own life for him, a complete stranger and despicable monster. This is new for Jack, a whole new colour. That's why at the end of the fight he wonders what his own colour is, he feels a new emotion because for the first time in his live his killing didn't create a beautiful colour but rather destroyed it, for the first time in his life he is sad. The main takeaway from the end of this fight is that while Jack was evil, he was never malicious. He truly wanted to make people happy and beautiful in the only way he could comprehend and if he had just known that there was a colour more beautiful than fear then he would have dedicated his life to that colour instead.
You got some of the details wrong. The color he saw on his mom was love; just not for him. It was love for his father, and he was only ever her connection to him, a means to one day let her get close to him again. And it’s not that he found fear or despair or whatever that color was at someone’s point of death more beautiful than the love he saw; they were both beautiful to him. The reason why he loved that color was because of its purity; Jack observed that everyone was always a mix of color. His mother’s color of love was completely pure; she displayed no other color than that, at least until the end when she got tainted with other emotions. Killing her restored her purity, and this her beauty. And, well, of course Jack developed a complex over that, hence his obsession with relocating that color of death over and over again. Its purity was definitely beautiful to him, but I also interpret it as him coping with the fact that he was never truly loved. Love to him became a fleeting thing that could easily be broken, while the color of death was total and final; the former could be lost, but the latter would not disappear, and was thus better to him in his distorted sour grapes view. Then he met Heracles, whose love for humanity, and thus for him, never wavered even at the point of death, and Jack regretted removing that pure color of love from the world.
kréo mørgh he mutilated the bodies, he would send the organs to police stations the way he killed them was grotesque. But that’s just one of the few reasons his name lives in infamy
I actually liked Hercules too a lot, he started off open minded but little did he know, godhood made him too prideful over time and it took Jack to bring him down from that high horse, to realize yet again that no human is born evil. Him opening up to that slightly throughout the fight was amazing to watch, drastic change from start to finish
@@Sonofsun. you misread the message. They clearly said that Hercules was reminded that NO human is born evil. If you gonna go off at least double check what you readin smh
The way jack does his volound is by chokingbthe valkirie in front of her older sister. And as she watched her sister not help her. Her heart was filled with betrayal, and thats when their hearts were one.
@@jinhunterslay1638 Because the only way for a Valkyrie to become a Volund is by becoming one with the human. However, because the only thing Jack ever knew was betrayal, Brunhilde had to make her sister feel betrayed for the process to work.
All jack had in life was the color of love to keep him going, before realizing it was never for him and it was false to begin with. Then he sees true love in Herc a person who loves him unconditionally the way one should love his fellow man. Jack leaves this fight in a way worse off than ever before because even pulled out of his mad despair he loses the one thing that he searched all his life for, a truly beautiful color.
It was really sad when he was walking off the fighting stage and everybody just threw all their shit at him. Jack also had the second coolest attack with the bloody gloves behind Adam’s copy of the infinitely fast punch.
@@mray4784 Yeah but you know what separates this Jack from the real Jack? The other had a sympathetic backstory while the other is A Killer with little to none knowledge of him or his life before his Infamous Killings.
@@mray4784 no shit I'd feel sad I saw this man's reasons for him being a psychotic Killer. You despise him yet if you see past his killings he's no different than other mentally ill patients. He's no different from us If you are willing to look past the crimes he did to humanity. He's just a broken individual.
9:34 And then we get a look at Jack's take on the whole "what if" scenarios. With so few panels given, everything spoke volumes. [SPOILERS AHEAD] It is all done through the perspective of Jack the Ripper as a child, a vulnerable time in his life. In one panel, we see the cook who had beaten him in the flashback prior presenting the child Jack with a feast. In another, we see his mother and father being happy together - showing us that even after he killed them, he still cared about their happiness. Then the most important part - the young Jack being GIVEN his father's hat. Something he had taken for himself when he killed his father in the actual timeline. He is a man who still dreamed of a happier childhood.
It’s neat how a lot of the fights follow a thematic idea. Lu Bu vs Thor (Strongest vs Strongest) Adam vs Zeus (Oldest Human vs Oldest God) Sasaki Kojiro vs Posideon (Humble vs Arrogant) Jack the Ripper vs Hercules (Most Evil Human vs Most Heroic God)
Lu Bu vs Thor are the same person basically, but it shows the difference between gods and humans Adam vs Zeus the established order and the one man that can challenge it almost becoming a god for itself amongs humans Sasaki Kojiro vs Poseidon more than humble vs arrogant I see it as viewing the others as a source for improving themselves against seeking perfection only in himself Jack the Ripper vs Hercules as you said Raiden Tameemon vs Shiva carrying the expectations and the dreams of others Buddha vs Zerofuku retribution and happiness
I would say jack the ripper and adam are the purest form of humanity. As in adam being the soul the pure the selfless human and jack being the body human basic desires hell he wanted something pure to see someones aura color but he did it in a scummy way.
Have y’all never read the book Heart of darkness where it shows how even the most common person is capable of doing the most unspeakable acts imaginable
get rid of the mustache, the best thing on him or that make him memorable? hell no. why else is gentle (mha), escanor (7sins) etc. so recogisable, its the fcking mustache
Didn’t Shakespeare say “Don’t avert thine eyes for he is human too” near the end of the fight tho? Plus I only saw the gods throwing it compared to humans unless I messed up the order again
The woman at his mother's brothel also said "If there be a god, please love this child". After killing Hercules, he felt a strange feeling, a feeling that he is not familiar with. Hlokk called him pathetic for being unable to describe sadness. Yes, for the first time, he felt sad. He didn't when he killed his mother, or his supposed father. It is when he killed someone who show love to him till the end, untainted by fear nor hatred, and he is genuinely sad
You guys notice how every human in the crowd was saying "fuck that murderer piece of shit, i dont want him as a representative to humanity! boo boo!!" then a single random women said "well at least that boy is out there fighting his heart out for us, why dont you go down there and fight Hercules!!" Then everyone went silent because they knew even if hes a monster hes still fighting for us.
@@GranMaj Yea but on an outside view of the manga, he was never caught so its unknown of his real name. Of course, the authors could just put in any info they want

The fact that Jack's opponent was the hero of humanity is just incredible. And the fact that life did Jack so dirty, that the only one who ever loved him was some guy he met once and absolutely had to kill. Also the mustache is perfect. You're wrong.
I would love to see Einstein vs. Odin. just imagine humanity's smartest person against an all knowing god. the level of dialogue between them. just, immaculate.
I absolutely loved the mustache. It gave him a very unique look, without the mustache you could've EASILY confused him with dozens of other characters from a variety of anime. His mustache is also symbolic with 18th century london, it was the fashion of that day and age which is gives more seasoning to the character and the overall theme of his origins + the london setting. I respect your opinion, but the mustache is definitely a positive thing.
Is it me or is the "London Bridge" nursery rhyme for toddlers used in a very dark method in quite a lot of anime? Like, it's more creepy now that I know the darkness of these lullabies/nursery rhymes.
The Dead Space series had a tendency to use children nursery rhymes in their trailers as well. A couple of series enjoy taking themes that are suppose to be considered innocent, and turning them on their head, because it can often increase the creep factor they want to portray.
Aether Veilborne The nursery rhymes were always dark.... London bridge is falling down had a dark origin with people falling off the London bridge and saying I’m pretty sure
@@targitausrithux2320 That's why I said "considered innocent". A lot of people today consider nursery rhymes to be a light hearted song or story. But when you peel that veneer off, especially the disney-fied ones, nursery rhymes and other children's stories can get very very morbid. A lot of the nursery rhymes are retellings of horrible events (like you said about the London Bridge) or warnings to teach children to not doing something stupid, such as Red Riding Hood. (Wandering the woods alone, trusting strangers, etc.)

More like suicide. Heracles stopped fighting to win as soon as he heard the reason for Jack's murders. From then on, his goal was to stand firm in the face of corruption and to show Jack that there's a more beautiful color than fear.
Anyone els think jack kinda looks like ir like he could be played by johnny depp? Also thank you for doing more ROR content. This is such a great story that NOBODY is talking about
I think him taking off his mask and leaving his anonymity behind was a good choice. We don't know his name, but his face is all we need to make him human.
I love how The valkyries stated humanity greatest weapon is it MALCE basically stating we don't care what our actions are as long as we get what we want compare to the god. which is funny because what the gods hate the most is going to be what they fear the most. And zenus, loki, thor, and Odin figure that shit out especially zenus when he got his ass handed to him.
Him bamboozling us is such a good touch since the hints he gave on his murders are just there to bamboozle the authorities. Its makes them think they are lock step closer when Jack is already 3 step ahead.
I think Heracles played an important part in this fight as well. If he won, he said he would vote to save humanity because he believed in their goodness and this fight pit him against humanities worst. If he wants to save humanity then he would have to save all of humanity, including the terrible parts of it. I feel like in the battle of ideologies, Heracles was the winner. Jack couldn't shake his conviction and Heracles still would have saved him. I love that aspect so much and that's what made this fight so memorable to me.
My main problem is that in the first episode and chapter, Zeus said the vote was unanimous. ALL of the gods wanted to destroy humanity, including Hercules. Doesn’t really make sense to me, considering how much he truly loved humanity.
@@samuraijack1324 Heracles was absent during the voting. But as you said it happened in the first chapter so the author probably didn't even consider Heracles being a character/participant in the series. That's probably why it's stated Heracles was absent to try and tie up that thread. Interesting point you brought up.
@@samuraijack1324 It was during his introduction when he meets up with Brunhilde. Also correction in my previous reply he was considered as a participant early in the series when the list was revealed but I doubt the author had his character progression planned at that point.

This fight was def my favourite, seeing how Jack LITERALLY turned all of London into a weapon. I also can’t wait until Simo Hayha and Rasputin get their time to shine
Honestly, while I am most excited for the Simo Häyhä fight, I am even more excited to see if and how Rasputin and Simo will interact due to the history between Finland and Russia being rather complicated.
Jack survived because he's job is not yet done. Hercules attempted to save him, and as such a part of his will is carried on in Jack. Jack is definitely going to play a role in what's happening behind the scenes, if nothing else but because Hercules never wavered.
Hopefully. He got his own spin off. I do feel like jack is important too. I just find his whole character and introduction intriguing. I remember brunhidle wasn’t sure on who everyone or when everyone was fighting but for some reason jack is chosen before and specifically for Hercules and in a special location with a pre plan attack that went so well hermes and brunhile could time it perfectly and have no reaction to anything everyone else was freaking out about. Makes me think jack is important
@@leopardtree2249 I get the impression Jack was the "Alright, we really need a win" guy. Namely that Hercules is as straight as they come when it comes to strategy and an incredibly noble man. Which is the perfect target to pit an assassin against and also a good tone setter for how grim it might potentially be later on, particularly in the twilight rounds.
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 yeah that too but something about it makes me feel like the will of Hercules got somehow inadvertently passed to jack instead of brunhilda. Because kinda the main draw is to watch these big famous figures just fight. XD
what i like about this fight is how so far its the only one that shows human cunning, seting traps and misleading the oponent, its not just "who can punch harder" and the more power centric fight with posseidom.
I kind of feel bad for the guy. The one person he thought he could count on and trust and thought whom loved him never truly did love him in the first place and I really do hope the guy one day finds redemption.

So, I found this video, watched the little video at the start, and now I'm back having read what's available. I was rooting for Jack all the way. The way his movements, strategies and mind games were played, with the contrasting stories of two men who faced extreme hardships, one came out the Hero, the other came out the Monster, and yet I find Jack the more human one, the one who was made into a monster, who only wished for love. Seriously, this was so far the best part, even after Adam's "Does a father need a reason to protect his children?" line. :D So thanks for directing me towards this work of art. :) Also, his mustache is Gentlemanly! :p
All my favorite fights in record of Ragnarok are the ones where humanity doesn't just simply overpower the gods but uses their wits to win, Jack and sasaki are my favorites and Jack's mustache is awesome
The only humans that have won are the direct opposite of there opponent whilst the humans that lost have something connected to each other e.g Thor and Lu Blu being undefeated and Adam and Zeus being the father whilst Jack and Hurc are the worst and best of each side
Everything about this fight, from the arena to the opponent he's facing, his backstory and ending, really benefited Jack's character. Honestly wondering if he'll do anything else later on in the tournament in relation to other contestants. I really hope we get to see him come back and do more.
nothing id ever felt before, can top the feeling of pride i felt at the end of this fight. Jack the Ripper was a human, Adam was pure, Sasaki was the most tenacious, Jack was human.
I remember my favourite moment as a display of Jack's personality was when he received his weapon, or rather his valkyrie. Unlike the previous contestants, who were working WITH the valkyries, that valkyrie didn't want to work with Jack, in return, he tricked the valkyrie into dropping her guard by offering his hand and giving her a sympathetic smile, only to then grab her like a fucking praying mantis and make her turn into the glove weapon. Kinda displays his fighting style as well, that he is in a constant state of bluff and dropping your guard for one second gives him all the advantage he needs.
Remove the mustache? Why remove perfection? Edit: Now on to the fight. I loved it. My two gripes with it is that Jack sometimes made to many of those "crazy/psychotic" faces to look threatening which kind did opposite for me. And using "London bridge is falling down" as a way to make yourself more of a menace is cheesy. But still loved it, especially the ending.
Actually that London Bridge was prob from AmiasD vid which everyone actually loved the implementation since why wouldnt Jack be cheesy. Also I dont think those faces were meant to be threatening but to show how unhinged he is. At most it wouldve been uncomfortable instead
Jack: Everything I touch will be a weapon, everything is my Volund, YOU are my Volund, THEY are my Volund, that cat over there, it is also my Volund, *everything human kind possessed is my Volund* "
First time getting into the manga was through Jack vs Herc's fight on RUclips It truly made me love historical fights again and love it more as their depiction of Jack has more honor and respect within the character than Fate ever will with theirs Really love each of the character designs so far in their matches tho a bit iffy on Poseidon
The thing I don't like about Poseidon is that Zeus got older (you can see he is quite young in his fight with Chronos) but Poseidon, who is supposed to be Zeus' older brother still looks young. It's probably linked to his pride in being a god but he would look cool as a well kept old man
@@federicorostagno7042 yeah we all known Poseidon for being the usual buff guy with the trident and is pretty much the same in terms of Zeus about how one commits to a partner c o u g h- Never really thought of the guy as a pompous pretty boy haha
Lady of Chaldea I don’t get why your comparing Fate with records of Ragnarok especially since the series wasn’t trying to honor/respect its depictions of historical figures. It started as an eroge anyway
Apparently in Fate, Jack the ripper(person) and Jack the ripper(legend) are 2 different beings. I think person Jack did appear in a spin off story, but big doubt it will ever be animated or something like that.
NEVER GET RID OF THE MOUSTACHE. It represents the era. It actually adds up a lot to his design, more than you think. We dont need him to be just another pretty boy.
I think the mustache is more to referencing the few people that suspected was Jack the Ripper (Aaron Kosminski) who was a barber and why the first "weapon" was scissors. By far one of the best fights imo
The thing is, I can't feel hate for Jack. Allow me to explain. Imagine, you're born into this world in the lowest of lows. You live in the slums where everyone spits, hates, and curse at you at the daily. The only thing that loves you is your own mother. Now imagine finding out that the true emotions of love were fake because the mother only wanted to use you as a way to get into a higher status. This is the case of Jack, the man had no one but his mom and her friend by his side. And yet his mother finally snaps and reveals her true intentions to Jack. This broke him emotionally, not mentally. A mentally broken character would be something of Leather face, where he was a sane guy before he went ape shit. Jack here is emotionally broken, and because all of the love he had was basically shattered, a new form of love formed. A love that was all about killing, and seeing fear. This is also furthered by the fact that he saw others via COLORS by the way. He never saw love from others, only Red (Hate) but when he saw fear, it would be, in my opinion, something of Ghostly Blue. It's actually a beautiful color. Jack is a character that I view not as a villain, but a rather just a "hero". I remember going onto reddit and reading about Jack vs Hercules fight. Some were rooting Jack, others for Hercules. And me, I didn't know who to root for. For if you were rooting for Hercules, you basically wanted the gods to gain the advantage and be a step closer to destroying humanity. But if you rooted for Jack, you were rooting for one of histories most disgusting and evil people of all time, but humans would take the step of succeeding. It took me some time and rooted for Jack. Spoilers for the ending of Round 4, so if you haven't read the manga, PLEASE DO. It's very good and it's one of the best manga ever IMO. When Hercules died, I legit broke down into tears. I knew that Jack had won and I was happy, but I was also broken. This was a man, nay, a brother to his villagers and the valkyries. Always standing against killing humans and made sure to fight for humanity no matter what. When he died, Jack didn't see a single thread of hate in him, this broke me. Jack was always hated and despised, but for the first time in his life. He was truely loved and cared by someone. A god who looked past the mans evil and embraced him as human.
The single best part about this fight is how Hercules touched Jack’s soul and humanized him, even if it was only very little, seeing that hit me like a semi on the freeway.
Jack the Ripper has been displayed (normally for me) as a deranged killer, but instead a man who was never Ed loved by anyone and that is a tragic tale on a infamous killer.
and that why i even started this manga....and why i started to read the manga of bha after s2 of the anime. such design i adore - too much even. its just so much more interesting with a slick mustache, same with escanor for example

"in the hands of a competent killer, everything is a weapon" This is the thematic element of jack's divine treasure. It's amazingly fitting. @@yawarapuyurak3271 Simo Hayha has his design out already, way before his debut in the manga. According to some sources, he's the youngest combatant of humanity, thus his child-like appearance.
This fight is my favorite because it really feels like a human fighting a god, with Jack having to plan 20 steps ahead just to stay alive and, quite literally, using the environment as a weapon. While Hercules never flinches no matter how much Jack hurts him and just stomping all his attempts with brute force.
Ironically with the fights that humanity one so far, it was always match ups in which the humans were counter-acting the personality and style of their opponents instead of matching it. Lu Bu and Thor were the physically strongest and Thor won. Adam and Zeus where both respectively the father of mankind and of the gods with Adam outright copying Zeus fighting style and Zeus came out on the top and with Raiden vs Shiva they were both hot heated wresters with Shiva winning. With the fights humanity won, we had Sasaki vs Poseidon with Sasaki being histories greatest loser who analyzes his opponent and constantly improves himself while Poseidon was the gods greatest winner who just used his superior abilities. With Hercules and Jack we had Justice vs Evil with Hercules fighting his opponents head one while Jack schemes and uses tricks. Though one fight I hope will break the pattern will be Tesla vs Beelzebub, which is at his point a sure match up, after Beelzebub is established as a crazy evil scientist. I think it would be the sweeter story when this fight comes, if Tesla wins through human ingenuity against Beelzebubs morbid curiosity
Honestly it could be a gift from a great old one or outer god. Like Y'golinac (great old one of depravity and perversion) Or Nyarlathotep (the crawling chaos of 1000 forms, also lovecraft's version of satan) It could be entirely possible to actually be a 'divine' gift. Just by something the gods would rather not acknowledge exists.
This is by far the most interesting take on Jack the Ripper (in my opinion). Everything from his skills to his manipulative side to his brutal history, Record of Ragnarok single handedly created my favorite fight in anime history.
I do like how we are shown the divine power of his Völundr when he throws the mask off before he starts tricking everyone. I wish they had keep it in the anime.

It could be Hitler for all I care, if it's a fight to the death, there's no such thing as a "dirty move." Besides I liked Jack more than Heracles.
I understand where you're coming from
Perhaps my wording could've been different but I didn't mean simpleminded in the sense of being dumb or anything...I just wanted to communicate how clearly understandable his motives are as opposed to Jack and his warped complex psyche
Bevon Mclean I know what you mean.
This fight was the typical hero v villain, where the villain constantly makes new, cunning ways of defeating the hero, but in the end the hero, with nothing but his trusted skill, strength and heart would win the day.
Selfless v selfish
Hero v villain
Heart v mind
In the end, Jack won, but you wonder if Hercules was actually trying to win, as he would always be an ally of justice and humanity.

Because deep inside everyone is as scummy as he is. Thats why we can feel empathy for him :D
He was a murderer, we hang murderers, not feel sorry for them being booed.

I respect your opinion, but the mustache is definitely a positive thing.
Is it me or is the "London Bridge" nursery rhyme for toddlers used in a very dark method in quite a lot of anime? Like, it's more creepy now that I know the darkness of these lullabies/nursery rhymes.
What other anime 🤔
The Dead Space series had a tendency to use children nursery rhymes in their trailers as well.
A couple of series enjoy taking themes that are suppose to be considered innocent, and turning them on their head, because it can often increase the creep factor they want to portray.

That's why I said "considered innocent".

I really felt bad for him when he killed heracles and regretted it at the end.
"I think... i'd like to see him again"
This was such a great fight. I like how the fight made me feel conflicted throughout. Not to forget mention how great or a character Jack is
I remember my favourite moment as a display of Jack's personality was when he received his weapon, or rather his valkyrie.
If he didn't make the faces, imo he would seem way less more "psychotic" than he's suppose to be
@@DaJokurr but he is psychotic
@@itsjustvin7630 that's the point, he would seem way more normal without the faces
Jack: Everything I touch will be a weapon, everything is my Volund, YOU are my Volund, THEY are my Volund, that cat over there, it is also my Volund, *everything human kind possessed is my Volund* "
“I’ll never change”
I had to shed some manly tears of passion at that point
First time getting into the manga was through Jack vs Herc's fight on RUclips
It truly made me love historical fights again and love it more as their depiction of Jack has more honor and respect within the character than Fate ever will with theirs
Really love each of the character designs so far in their matches tho a bit iffy on Poseidon
The thing I don't like about Poseidon is that Zeus got older (you can see he is quite young in his fight with Chronos) but Poseidon, who is supposed to be Zeus' older brother still looks young. It's probably linked to his pride in being a god but he would look cool as a well kept old man
@@federicorostagno7042 yeah we all known Poseidon for being the usual buff guy with the trident and is pretty much the same in terms of Zeus about how one commits to a partner c o u g h-
Never really thought of the guy as a pompous pretty boy haha
Lady of Chaldea I don’t get why your comparing Fate with records of Ragnarok especially since the series wasn’t trying to honor/respect its depictions of historical figures. It started as an eroge anyway
@@CrazyLurker and also the fact that fate made artouria one of the OG genderbents in history, good shit nasu.
Agree
I mean he Is a pretty boy. Just a pretty boy with a badass mustache
The Masked Man: "Get rid of the mustache"
Me: NO
I think the mustache is more to referencing the few people that suspected was Jack the Ripper (Aaron Kosminski) who was a barber and why the first "weapon" was scissors.
By far one of the best fights imo
Yup
Ty for the detail
Oooooo. That's a great reference. Thanks for the info mate
Not gonna lie as well, once the "London Bridge" song started to play, I got chills up my spine.
The single best part about this fight is how Hercules touched Jack’s soul and humanized him, even if it was only very little, seeing that hit me like a semi on the freeway.
1:52 that switch in audio sent CHILLS
I really like how the mask he threw off shattered the ground, as later on we discovered that the gloves are his weapon.
Jack the Ripper has been displayed (normally for me) as a deranged killer, but instead a man who was never Ed loved by anyone and that is a tragic tale on a infamous killer.
even shakespeare knows that jack is a human too. for he said:
"nay... not avert thine eyes for I say that man is Human too"
I've never seen a more appropriate intro. Bravo
Hands down one of the best fights of the decade, this is where this manga went from awesome battle manga to a fucking masterpiece battle manga.
"I creeped myself out." bruh you just made it catchy man!
Jack was just the definition of "all it takes is one bad day"
Jack's design almost reminds me of Gentle Criminal from MHA
and that why i even started this manga....and why i started to read the manga of bha after s2 of the anime.
such design i adore - too much even. its just so much more interesting with a slick mustache, same with escanor for example
@@Exel3nce Yeah, he is cool. This series does seem interesting, but alas, manga is simply too expensive for me to read. Fifteen bucks for about 45 minutes of entertainment is simply not an investment I'm willing to make, especially when video games and novels have so drastically higher ratios. And my wallet is mad at me for buying all of the Wheel of Time books, but they are so good I can't stop reading them.
@@seandowney2338 well, thats why we have the internet. you dont need to buy anything ever.
no mangas, no games, no books, just the internet :)
@@Exel3nce But are internet boobs as satisfying as real ones? Not to me, they aren't. The same principle, no matter how unfortunate or inconvenient, applies to me for novels and comics. Part of the reason I will never have an e-book library. I prefer to read on paper, almost cripplingly so.
@@seandowney2338 well, then its your problem tbh. the content is the same, just the material is differnt, which is, in the end, just a way to crap your house full of nonsense.
if there is an option, use it, otherwise there is no reason to cry about it :)
"in the hands of a competent killer, everything is a weapon" This is the thematic element of jack's divine treasure. It's amazingly fitting.
This series humanizing Jack the ripper as a being that knows, intimately the darkness and malignancy of the human soul is brilliant.
I also can't wait to see my country's legend brought to the show.. Simo Hayha.. The greatest iron sights marksman in history
yes! yes! yes!
Once the list came out, I inmediatly searched all fighters. And damn, I'm so hyped for Simo.
Him and Tesla are the humans I can't wait to see fight.
@@yawarapuyurak3271 Simo Hayha has his design out already, way before his debut in the manga. According to some sources, he's the youngest combatant of humanity, thus his child-like appearance.
All the simo hype is real, and aaah, it's so wonderful seeing people get so hyped for our lad!!!
Yeah I'm excited to see him try to snipe (assumedly) Apollo
Fr
Would be so interesting to see Simo
Bruh the mustache adds a lot to his character design first thing you really notice on his face I loved it amplifies his whole gentleman killer vibe
YO YOU ADDED MY VIDEO!! THANKS BRO I LOVE YOU MAN!! its so cool being recognized by a smart youtuber
The implication of him seeing aura as a divine gift from the gods was also cool thematically
Honestly it could be a gift from a great old one or outer god. Like Y'golinac (great old one of depravity and perversion)
Or Nyarlathotep (the crawling chaos of 1000 forms, also lovecraft's version of satan)
It could be entirely possible to actually be a 'divine' gift.
Just by something the gods would rather not acknowledge exists.
This is by far the most interesting take on Jack the Ripper (in my opinion). Everything from his skills to his manipulative side to his brutal history, Record of Ragnarok single handedly created my favorite fight in anime history.
When the audience throws stones at jack it broke me.
Your intro for Jack was perfect. Gave me chills. Not creeps, chills. I like it.
I started reading Ragnarok after watching your Zeus vs Adam video. It is the first manga I have ever read and I thank you for recommending it.
Man I loved this fight, the whole thing was giving off strong Bloodborne vibes
Also, jack fought for humanity. Like, I wouldn't hate this man.
I do like how we are shown the divine power of his Völundr when he throws the mask off before he starts tricking everyone. I wish they had keep it in the anime.
Who ever drew Jack the ripper deserves a raise
Your editing of Jack the Ripper's introduction was really awesome
