  • In this video I road trip my 1986 Ford Ranger almost 400 miles to northern Iowa to jump on a great deal on a 1931 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan. The old hot rodder selling the car was a great guy and it was a trip I will never forget!

I just brought home a 1930 A. It’s like a museum on wheels, all the hands that worked on it. Have a lot to do on the old car. Enjoy the experience, I certainly am.

So glad for you. Whatever you paid, the smile on your face tells all. Enjoy your new car and take all the time to put it back in top condition that it deserves. You have a piece of history. Can't wait for the finished product. Dave

Check that fan for cracks. That’s the one weak point in the Model A engine. Those engines run forever, which is why the rest of the car looks so exhausted. Also, don’t downshift into first until you are almost completely stopped.

When I was in high school in 1968 I had a chance to buy a 30 model A two door. The man selling it drove it to my house to show it to my mother. She was not impressed and would not let me buy it. The price was 80 dollars.

If this is in fact an early 1931 Model A (late '31 had an indented firewall and the fuel shutoff was under the hood) the radiator shell would be incorrect for that year. The shell is definitely 1930 (stainless top with blue Ford logo) not 1931. So, despite what the title may say, your "new" old Model A Ford looks more like a 1930 car than a 1931.
But one thing is for sure. Your model A is going to be fun to restore and enjoyable to drive. Congratulations and good luck.

It is early 31. No indentation

I have a ‘31 Tudor, and I’ve had the coil wire fall out as well! Easy fix fortunately. You have an awful lot of work ahead of you if you want to restore it, but have fun with it. Get to know Snyder’s Antique Autos in OH soon! Please keep it stock.

It's a little hard for me to get in and out. I gotta move the seat back about 2 inches and it'll be much better

I have known this car and the former owner his name was bill bratton and he passed away this time last year. His son sold it to the man you bought it from. I painted the wheels in 91 or 92 for bill. I don't think he drove a mile on them they were new tires then
If you would like me to put you in contact with his son let me know

Cool video. Did you get the chance to learn Gary’s bodywork skills when you were younger? He would’ve loved that car. Are you going to fix it up like new?
Glad to see you back at it making videos.

Unfortunately I was still young when my grandpa passed so he hasn't got into teaching me body work. He did teach me a lot of other automotive things. Someday the model A will get restored but until then I intend to drive it and enjoy it a lot!

Nope. I have athrogryposis. I was born with dislocated hips, bilateral clubbed feet, and clubbed left hand. Doctored at Shriners for my first 18 years. They got me put together enough to lead a normal life. I'm very blessed. A lot of people with my disability aren't so lucky.
