    I have the adapter as well, and I do make use of it on road trips. if there are reasonably priced CCS options along the route. EVgo does not have any locations near me, yet, but I plan to keep an eye out for them with their recently announced deal to install chargers at many Pilot and Flying J locations.

    Great video Kim! Thanks. Anxiously awaiting my 23 MYLR (1st EV). Had a question on the EVGo as we'll be going from AZ to ME within a few weeks of receiving our new Model Y. On their app where you arrange prepay and mentioned being able to reserve a charger, does it show you the status of the station you are going to as in how many total chargers vs how many available? I would think it would be confusing to back into a charger and find out it wasn't available as it was reserved. After watching this, will definitely get the CCS adapter and activate the 3 month EVGO trial to give it a whirl. Thanks again!

    Great stuff. Unfortunately EVgo doesn't have 250 kW chargers in the North East. Not from what I see in their app anyway. They typically run between 50 and 100 kW. @@DeltaScalper As I was watching the video it occurred to me that this should give an incredible boost to Tesla's already long lead demand times for those that can afford a Tesla. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Teslateer but I really look forward to Chinese EV manufacturers making their debut worldwide. The multitudinous smaller cheaper and often basic EV's should frighten the living daylights out of ICE manufacturers everywhere - and that of more than a few EV manufacturers including Tesla. The latest MG4 & 5 EV's are now on sale in EU & UK for around €35000 & £28,485ish respectively. They seem very respectable with a reasonable amount of functionality.
      Teslas have great levels of functionality but you almost need to don your pith helmet, safari outfit, & dig out your bush machete before venturing forth into the infotainment menu - there's so many levels of info to slash your way through before you're able to rescue the princess from the lions and hyenas.

      @@tedmoss I only meant in the sense that Tesla, although absolutely brilliant, and having succeeded beyond everyone's wildest dreams, are finding themselves stubbornly stuck in the luxury car segment. I assume you, like myself and thousands of others, have closely followed the company's progress over the years, and as such, have seen many comments around
      the: "we had to save for 3yrs, 4yrs etc to be able to afford a SEXY car"? So, if you extrapolate that out, out of the many, many, buyers, how many of those would have (still) opted for a Tesla given the opportunity to buy a much, much cheaper EV? Quite a lot would not have I think is the probable answer for a fairly high percentage of buyers.
      TBC: I'm not trying to denigrate Tesla in any way, shape, or form. But I do think that Elon's Californian, Silicon Valley, wealthy mindset's origins really show up in the obsession with fancy bells & whistles, most of which will rarely feature on most people's radar - just as with any other gadgets from washing machines & microwave ovens right through to our digital devices; we choose the everyday basic functions & largely ignore the rest. Most of us couldn't even tell you what the various bells & whistles were, let alone how to use them. That's been true for 40 years going back to when video recorders started to become more sophisticated; I remember mine this way.🤪😅

      Not everywhere it's definitely gone up by me but it's still no where near the price of gas. It isn't going to stay cheap forever since more and more people will need to charge they will increase the price to make more people charge only when they need to. Also inflation and energy prices have gone up a lot because we still rely a lot on natural gas to make the energy.

    What is the difference between that and a J1772?

    • @johnpoldo8817
      @johnpoldo8817 Год назад +1

      CCS refers to Combined Charging System. It combines a J1772 AC charging plug (5 ports at top) with a 2 port DC charging plug on bottom. The much smaller NACS Tesla plug achieves both AC & DC charging on one 5 port plug. IMHO, the North American Charging Standard (NASC) is much better due to its compactness.

    • @Chukonu5
      @Chukonu5 Год назад

      It’s kind of silly to call it the “North American Charging Standard” just because Tesla changed the name a few days ago. CCS is clearly more standard 😝

      To make it simple this will allow you to charge from 10-80% in around 15 mins the J1772 will charge 10-80% in around 4 hours(more or less). The CCS adapter is for trips and J1772 is for home or hotels.
