Keep up the good work brother!! I'm a kayak camper and love your integration of electronic devices into your adventures. I'm always taking notes. can't wait to see more! get the likes up yall!!
The second charger probably was being limited by the car. You can get 170kw on the lfp batteries, but not for long, you need to be below around the 30% mark. You plugged in at over 40% so the speed you got was limited by the car, even with a warm battery.
LFP model 3 here. I got around 50-60kwh up to 90% with genuine Tesla adapter. The Chinese knockoff version is charging fine but it is very lightweight vs genuine adapter. 😅
So these DC fast charging things are equivalent to Superchargers? Or do they actually charge faster?... Just bought a model 3 and got the ccs adapter because I'll be traveling and theres a few of these along the way and not many super chargers
Yeah, CCS is a fast charging standard just like Tesla Superchargers. The Superchargers, up until recently, were proprietary to just Tesla, and CCS is what all the other brands used. However, VERY recently, there was a shift. Everybody signed on to use the Tesla standard (now called NACS). We're in a weird period where CCS is still commonplace, but new model year EVs are coming out that have the Tesla charging port instead of CCS. But TL;DR - Yeah CCS is the same type of fast charging as the Superchargers. If you haven't already, check out PlugShare and ABetterRoutePlanner
I bought the official Tesla adapter for much more. The little rod thing is not flexible at all and it's a heavy piece of kit. Also, being able tell the customer service representative it's Tesla all the way to their charger. No third party adapter for them to blame if their charger causes an issue. My area has a lot more CCS chargers than Superchargers and some areas I expect to go have only CCS chargers. For me it's a bit of an insurance policy that any charging issues can't be deflected to a third party adapter. That said, for emergency use once or twice this cheap adapter is probably fine.
Honestly I only got the CCS adapter as a backup in case Superchargers are absurdly busy or not working; or I happen to be in an area where there's not a conveniently close-by Supercharger like in Halifax

Thanks! it's definitely a different kind of camping, but an interesting experience nonetheless!

@@MikeInTheWoods Thanks for the response!!!
@MikeInTheWoods Got that same adapter!! Been using it every other weekend!!
@@ThatCasinoLife It was the competing standard up until recently

Does it work for 2018 model 3? I thought a communication module had to be installed
You'd need a retrofit. You can find if your Model 3 supports CCS in the settings on the center console
Stop spreading FUD about Super Chargers. Tesla is spending $500M this year on new Superchargers. How much are the other providers spending?
Tesla laid off the employees that installed the superchargers as of this week. Tesla is no longer installing them.
@@isweatglitter5809Tesla is already rehiring the supercharger team. So I guess Elon has finished with his temper tantrum
Stay away from Electrify America stations. Especially in Indiana. Leave those for me. I’m share there’s superchargers lose by 😅

Fun fact: those are against EA’s terms of service. They only want you to use an adapter approved by your car manufacturer.
Why play with your life?
