I don't believe Tesla said they were opening all their superchargers to CCS. The announcement were a fairly small fraction, and actually included more destination chargers than superchargers. The irony of that is that all destination chargers are already open to CCS if you have a teslatap.
Tesla announced that they would open ~3,500 of their Supercharger stalls by the end of 2024, so at best, their commitment is only to open a fraction of their total charger count.
The newest FSD beta update 11.3.6 really is a game changer. Get that update and then test exiting, merging on the highway.. it's getting really good. It's really smooth changing lanes now too, not jerking over like it used to.

Hey did you happen to try with Autel DC charger to Tesla Model 3? Yesterday, I was running out of my model 3 charging and I found destination charger from Tesla app which is on my way. But after reaching the location we found that the location doesn’t have Tesla chargers but Autel has many DC charging stations because it is AtlantaMotorsport Park. I’ve used 2 different adapters and both of them did n’t work. I wonder what is your experience?
The Tesla supercharger stations is way more efficient and faster than the Electrify America charging stations for other electric cars. Tesla Model 3 doesn’t have automatic rain sensing. You guys saw the Tesla store and there are Tesla supercharging stations outside and maybe in the next video of TFLEV you can drive in the Tesla Model 3 Performance and charge your electric car over there?
i believe in the future fsd... this exit mistake was clearly because it was raining... my tesla always is scatter with the rain... its strange how like human eyes ai eyes are with the sheen on the road. i have an intersection my tesla always scored 10 out of ten... now two years later with enough snow and salt the paint lines have faded to barely existing... now the car shakes back and forth and is unsure which lane is the right lane... can't wait till tesla adds mapping
I could see people forgetting and leaving their $175 adapter back at the CCS charger. Ouch. I hope there will be a reminder screen to take your adapter with you.
I have almost made this mistake. I caught myself when the plug didn’t fit back into the CCS plug holder (because the adapter was still attached). The adapter’s weird shape that doesn’t fit the CCS holders helps prevent you from forgetting.
They should've made the adapter yellow or so instead of black that just blends right in. 😉 Other then that it's quite an expensive adapter for what it does. Telsa is like Apple I guess.
Beta FSD is much better than what your paying for. If you had the latest BETA then there would be a difference in the animations. It would have done much better. Also, the torque on the steering wheel. Just keep constant pressure and once in a while shift the pressure from side to side. That's plenty to keep it from nagging. Good video though. Also super nice of you guys to help the lady at the charger. Glad to hear she likes her car!
Paying attention while driving is the hard part. It is even harder to pay attention if you aren't doing the driving. I don't see the value of the current self driving system.
It’s how autopilots in airplanes work - it flies the airplane, but the human pilot is there to make sure it stays on course and doesn’t make a mistake. Pilots still do this after decades of airplanes that have auto land and other sophisticated capabilities.
I don’t think many people truly know what, where and how EVs charge. I think newer EV converts may not have done their homework on charging in general.
Well we just charged our Tesla at the local EA and it did suck, but not because of our adapter just because we had to go to multiple plugs to actually get good speeds we were charging at 70kw at a 350 but then we switched and got 150kw at a 350 which was much better. It had some charge already that's why it didn't get super fast.
What happens if you go to a Tesla Supercharger w/CCS adapter built in. Set it up like you're charging a non-Telsa so it unlocks the CCS charger. Then use the CCS adapter to plug into the Tesla. Does it charge? Is it even safe to test?
This does work but it’s more expensive and slower due to Tesla capping the amperage at 350 amps for non-Teslas while you can easily pull over 650 amps if you plug in as a Tesla the normal way without the adapters.
@@frankr111th Would you happen to have a link? I've been searching and unable to find this test. I saw Out of Spec did test Tesla's supercharges on a non-Tesla, but that's not what I'm curious about.
@@roguedogx Are you kidding? You must have seen a different video. What I saw was only 3 of 4 EA chargers were working, while 12 Tesla chargers were available. And they had to drive out of their way, past another set of Tesla chargers, to charge at the first available EA charger. This video proves that EA sucks.
Not sure why she didn’t charge at home. Can’t hold that against her since we don’t know the circumstances. But a regular car buyer would expect to be able to publicly charge when needed just like they would be able to fuel up when needed. If owning an EV takes significantly more planning then that will impact adoption.
She is not “tying up a charger”. She has as much right to it as anyone else now. I completely understand why somebody would want to fill their car up with free fuel versus having to pay for it.
@@bostondan77 Still don’t know all of the circumstances. How much driving did she do before charging. Is she going somewhere after she picks up her sister? The point that she has the right to charge regardless still stands. Manufacturers are doing what Tesla did, which is to provide free charging, to help sell vehicles. The ‘free’ charing is being paid for up front at the time of purchase.
@@markmonroe7330 I meant the auto manufacturers are short sighted for including unlimited charging with the vehicle, it promotes using the limited fast chargers available rather than charging at home or work. They should sell the car at a lower price instead of paying for her level 3 charging; it doesn’t help the strained charging infrastructure.
I just watched another video regarding Electrify America charging fried some EV's. Why would you take your Tesla to an EA station? Who would be at fault if the charger fried your Tesla? I wouldn't want to find out.
Tesla has the most useless automatic wipers. They either wait until you're blind or are just on high randomly. I always have to just turn them on manually, which is obnoxious because you have to use the screen to do it.
Not really. 25% of the first station was down, and they had to drive out of their way, all while passing another opportunity to charge a Tesla Supercharger. Not a great advertisement for EA.
@@PhilCarbone-wt5gjlies. I charge all the time, at multiple stations throughout the county I live in, and they’re rarely down. Maybe one out of 15 will be done once in a blue moon. Why lie?
Most Tesla owners use ccs chargers, but we are not allowed to use their network. They keep say we will gain access. That is so sad. It's bad when you get to a EA charging station and it is occupied by a tesla. Smdh
This is a very interesting comparison. However, this is not a city street. This is a divided highway. I really want to see the partial self driving in a true city street downtown Chicago, downtown Boston in town Philadelphia some place we’re not everything is straight and wide.
It should be illegal for Tesla to say they stiff have full self driving since they took all the radar systems out of the cars. The camera only based cars are notably worse at self driving than those with radar.
I got 3 months of free charging with my Tesla model 3 but I don’t even care about it. I just don’t want to waste my time to save $40 per month. I just plug in it every night in my garage and I’m done.
it sure does seem like there is a lot of road noise in the Tesla. That is the one advantage the Tesla has is the ability to charge anywhere and there are lots of Tesla charging locations. Sadly the Tesla only preconditions the battery when you set a Tesla Supercharger and not other charging locations. Tesla only agreed to open up 7500 chargers, not all of them. That is a V2 Supercharger, you can plug into a V3 and get 250kw. You should be able to plug into a 350kw EA and get faster speeds. So why did you limit the test to slower chargers? People think Autopilot is really "autopilot", and that FSD is set it and forget it. Even with all the warnings and acknowledgements people just ignore it. It appears that people are making that mistake with all of the different "self driving" tech across all the manufacturers. Hopefully this tech improves quickly because people are assuming it is already capable of prime time.
Sorry to dispel your test but at DC chargers it’s the car that controls the speed. It tells the charger how much power to push… so since both chargers were maxed out at 150kw, and assuming both are functioning properly (I’m looking at you Electrify America), the car is the one determining the speed and it’s mostly dependent on the state of the battery. Also, the version of full self driving you were using is an older version - that was actually enhanced autopilot that you were using (also knows as navigate on autopilot). It appears your car does not have FSD yet, which happens often on new Teslas after subscribing since FSD, being on beta, is using an older version of the base software, so until FSD is available with newer base version than what your car is running, it will not upgrade to it. Hopefully this will resolve itself in coming weeks.
Cant see many Tesla owners using this option because they have the better more reliable network anyway. it may get heated if a lot of non Tesla owners start showing up at Tesla chargers although I think they are going to limit how many of them are open, I dont think it will be all of them.
Charging difference 150KW at EA won't = 150KW at Tesla. CCS needs to charge vehicles with a wider range of battery voltages. The EA 150KW Signet station doesn't output as much amps as the Tesla V2 station. One thing I noticed is that you missed one big advantage as to how CCS is being implemented. You talked about how the 10 stall Tesla supercharging station had more stalls than the 4 spot EA site. However what if the power went out locally? That whole Tesla site would be down. But there was another EA site just 5 minutes away. More distributed sites is better than large mega charging sites for overall resiliency. And most new EV's hitting the market are starting to incorporate plug and charge capability in some form. Tesla is slowly loosing it's advantages.
G’day mate, why can’t everybody on this planet agree on 1 electric socket plug design? Electric socket plug is just a simple device, yet people have to carry multiple plugs for different countries. Same with different brands of EVs, mate
Thank you for showing everyone why you need to keep your hands on the wheel. I still don't see the need for FSD (f___ up someone else's day) if you don't want to drive with your hands on the wheel take the bus. That goes for all the ev cars coming out with this hands free gimmick. SMH
200 a month is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. That’s the cost of one night’s black car service to and from a night out. Obviously you shouldn’t use FSD beta AFTER a night out. Wipers do need to do a better job. It’s annoying when they turn on when you don’t need them too.
Good video. My car only has a J1772 connector and over 99% of the time when I go to the public chargers near my house, there will be Teslas taking up most, if not all, of the 4 available Volta chargers. About a third of the time the Tesla driver will be sitting in their car (I don't know if any or all of them are breaking the posted 2-hour limit) and if they are around, I will politely point out that the CCS to Tesla adapter is available. Thus, they could get a greater rate of charge from the EA chargers on the other side of the parking lot. Without exception, the response they have given me is not that they did not know this but that using the EA chargers would mean that they have to pay. Someone who can afford a Tesla, in my opinion, should certainly be able to afford EA and should stop inconveniencing those of us who don't have options just because they are cheapskates. What makes the situation even worse, is the fact that there are Tesla Superchargers about 5 miles up the road.
Per owners manual you always plug adaptor on the charge cable before plugging it into the car
That was painful to watch lol
Please remember that you can "Put your hands back on the wheel" when that warning shows up while on AutoPilot by using the right roller wheel and select a few mph up and back. That dismisses the warning so you don't have to add any torque to the wheel. Great video guys. Thank you...
The left volume button works too.
I learned a trick, move volume up or down on the wheel instead of jiggling the wheel
That’s what I do with my Tesla 😉
Or increase autopilot speed up or down 1 mile/hr with the other scroll wheel.

But after reaching the location we found that the location doesn’t have Tesla chargers but Autel has many DC charging stations because it is AtlantaMotorsport Park. I’ve used 2 different adapters and both of them did n’t work. I wonder what is your experience?
May I suggest some head covering to keep warm and dry in that weather. And the man in the short sleeves, I wonder what he was driving?
I’m about to get ‘15 ms from out of state can I use that type adapter to drive it home or die it need and upgrade before.
Someone made a song about the adapter to play 45's on a 33 turntable.
EA does like their 50 pound charger handles.
In Europe all Teslas come with a CCS port. Only a matter of time before they accept it and move over.
In Europe, all model 3/Y Have CCS from factory, and they can charge everywhere without an adapter.
Works fine.
And nobody cares that a Tesla is charging at a non-Tesla charger
i believe in the future fsd... this exit mistake was clearly because it was raining... my tesla always is scatter with the rain... its strange how like human eyes ai eyes are with the sheen on the road. i have an intersection my tesla always scored 10 out of ten... now two years later with enough snow and salt the paint lines have faded to barely existing... now the car shakes back and forth and is unsure which lane is the right lane... can't wait till tesla adds mapping
Y'all are getting famous!!!
Haven't gotten mine yet but I think there is a qr code on the adapter that has the directions.
Pilots still do this after decades of airplanes that have auto land and other sophisticated capabilities.
my 2021 Model 3 cant charge using a ccs station until i get a new ecu installed
Was it me or was there a lot of rotational shuddering while they were driving. Looks like a bent wheel or balance issue.
CCS is just so damn BIG though
11:59 Dr Julius Hibbert has entered the room. 😂
It should work fine and would be perfectly safe. There is nothing special in terms of handshaking and just requires the proper electrical connections.
Out of spec Dave did this exact test. It worked fine, but slightly slower speeds
@@kerrym2521 search for a channel called Out Of Spec Dave
You can put CCS charger with 350 kw for faster with Tesla
0:27 should be a standard piece of equipment, but at least there's an option. Also, if you had to pay for it, it had better work flawlessly.
17:08 so it seems like, based on this, that if you have to quick charge EA is the way to go...... which is odd.
@@roguedogx Are you kidding? You must have seen a different video. What I saw was only 3 of 4 EA chargers were working, while 12 Tesla chargers were available. And they had to drive out of their way, past another set of Tesla chargers, to charge at the first available EA charger. This video proves that EA sucks.
why not find a 250 and see if it goes above?
Not sure why this is such a big deal. I see Teslas at CCS machines from time to time .
My '23 Model 3 auto wipers sucks manual control sucks as well. Tesla can't figure out how to make good rain sensing wipers.
Free electric charging is very short sighted. Ionic 5 lady is tying up a charger when she could be charging at home
@@mart0225 she said on camera she’s dc fast charging because it’s free.
Hey gents, if you know anyone who is willing to buy me a Model 3, I’d be more than willing to accept one! Awesome video. Keep up the great work!
Tesla has the most useless automatic wipers. They either wait until you're blind or are just on high randomly. I always have to just turn them on manually, which is obnoxious because you have to use the screen to do it.
True that
Does voice control work for the wipers?
@Jebus Hypocristos, I love comments like this! Hilariously off topic! 😄
@@matthewprather7386 I have no idea. I'll try it later today and update.
Do people really think ev will take off if the outlets are not standardized? I don't need an adapter to fill up a gas vehicle. Ridiculous.
And I still can't get EVGo Auto Charge to work and all the CCS drama. It's painful.
Charging a Tesla at an EA charging station is a great advertisement for Electrify America.
Not really. 25% of the first station was down, and they had to drive out of their way, all while passing another opportunity to charge a Tesla Supercharger. Not a great advertisement for EA.
@@wilfredvanvalkenburgh2874 23% of Tesla chargers are inoperable, so this is a wash.
@@PhilCarbone-wt5gj what? Rate your charge has Tesla super hargers at a 99% uptime rate. Just making stuff up?
@@PhilCarbone-wt5gjlies. I charge all the time, at multiple stations throughout the county I live in, and they’re rarely down. Maybe one out of 15 will be done once in a blue moon. Why lie?
You should be asking why Elon Musk lies. By the way, how is that recall of 2 million Teslas going? @@Adrian-op5ni
Most Tesla owners use ccs chargers, but we are not allowed to use their network. They keep say we will gain access. That is so sad. It's bad when you get to a EA charging station and it is occupied by a tesla. Smdh
Respond to steering input nag: spin the left rotary input wheel and it will turn off the nag (until next time).
Right wheel will also work
This is a very interesting comparison.
The weight does not work anymore
15:05 we're not learning, we're laughing
You can't help what some people think.
Make a chart if they are cheaper
You can use the scrollwheel to stop the nagging.
do I believe for one second, that they don't know the scroll wheels work with the blue screen, no one chance in he ll
They're so nice.
Hopefully this will resolve itself in coming weeks.
why would it suck? the non tesla chargers are up to 350 kv 800 volts,,, lot more than tesla super chargers
Cant see many Tesla owners using this option because they have the better more reliable network anyway. it may get heated if a lot of non Tesla owners start showing up at Tesla chargers although I think they are going to limit how many of them are open, I dont think it will be all of them.
Yes. It won't be all of them. Also Tesla charges more to charge and charges high idle fees. So they won't be clogging for too long.
I’m seeing Tesla’s charging at EA in Colorado Springs… no big deal
Tesla needs to stop breaking compatibility with 3rd party adapters just like the one you are using
Thank you for showing everyone why you need to keep your hands on the wheel. I still don't see the need for FSD (f___ up someone else's day) if you don't want to drive with your hands on the wheel take the bus. That goes for all the ev cars coming out with this hands free gimmick. SMH
Look Mom no hands😮
200 a month is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. That’s the cost of one night’s black car service to and from a night out. Obviously you shouldn’t use FSD beta AFTER a night out.
Wipers do need to do a better job. It’s annoying when they turn on when you don’t need them too.
When will Tesla open there super chargers to any ccs rated vehicle?
3000 or so by the end of 2024
@C. Moreno thank you I look forward to that
