    Nice rotation of devices!
    I have a 4 device setup (including PC):
    GB/GBC/GBA - IPS modded GBA SP with everdrive
    NES/SNES/N64/Dreamcast/DS/PSP - Modded Switch OLED with Android
    3DS/GCN/Wii/Wii U/PS2/PS3/Xbox/Xbox 360/Streaming - ROG Ally

    For me, one weaker portable handheld for easy stuff and one powerful less portable seems to get the job done (and probably will for most people).
    Easy stuff - Anbernic 405m. I don’t know why I love this one so much, but the aspect ratio, premium metal feel and Android flexibility just do it for me. Tried others and other options would be Anbernic 35XX or Retroid Pocket flip. But 405m for me for now.
    Hard stuff - ROG Ally. I started with the Steam Deck (and won’t hate on anyone who chooses it) but even with Emulation Station, I just didn’t find emulating with Linux as easy a setup as on a Windows machine. And while SD kills on battery life on lower TDP, for higher end emulation, the battery life differences start to flatten out between SD and Ally. But you could probably put any Windows/Linux handheld PC here and it’ll be great for you.

      I have a similar setup with my RG351P + a hacked Switch and yes; playing GBC games on a 7" screen feels a bit redundant. You don't need a beast of a machine to play something so simple, so a small pocketable device + a powerful covers all bases.

    • @fafski1199
      @fafski1199 7 месяцев назад

      Yep, you can't really go wrong with either an Ally or Steam Deck for higher end emulation and modern games, alongside a smaller Android handheld like a RG405M or Retriod Pocket 3+ for lesser emulation and portability. Both together will cover any 'on the go' gaming situation.

    I've been going back and forth on what I was gonna get as my first foray into the handheld market (minus owning an original model switch) and you have convinced me of the Odin 2. We basically have the same computer and I like the idea of having an android device that can moonlight stream some beefy PC games as well.

    For me the PSP is my all in one system for old consoles from NES to PS1 and PSP games ofcourse.
    For me it's the perfect system because of it's size and compact nature. I never play N64, GameCube and PS2 games on the go, only on my computer.
    Gameboy Advance is my favourite system to play on my PSP because it's form factor is very similar to the OG vertical GBA.

    Thanks Joey. Currently I have most of my games running on my Retroid pocket flip. However once I receive my devices I plan to do the following setups:
    Retroid pocket flip: anything up to PS1, PSP, N64, and Dreamcast.
    Steam Deck OLED LE: PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, Switch, some PS3, 3DS, other high end consoles, steam games.
    Beelink Ser 6 Max for streaming games: PC, switch, PS3, Wii U,any other high end console.
    There’s some overlap in systems but it simplifies the number of devices but provides flexibility.

    For me, one mini portable device (RG300X), and one powerful device (Odin 2) is enough. I may get some flavor devices in the future for specific systems (Arc for Sega, or RGB30 for Gameboy). I lso like playing 16bit systems on a more powerful device, so I can use shaders.

    I'm working on my handheld collection. I have a pocket 2+ but I don't actually like it that much, thumb stick where I want the d-pad and the screen isn't great. Miyoo mini+ in the mail right now. I'm hoping for a ktr1 by the end of the year to fill in all the spots you were using the retroid flip, but I keep seeing different reviewers say how good the flip is and kt gets middling reviews. Also really wanted the loki mini pro to be good but it seems like they killed it since your video

    I would honestly like a Miyoo Mini+ and Ayn Odin 2 setup but I already have a hacked 2DS and Vita that can emulate what the MM+ can. The idea of a small portable device like the MM+ sounds fantastic but being able to use bluetooth headphones playing those systems on my Vita is just too convenient to pass up on. What do you think Joey?

    • @JoeysRetroHandhelds
      @JoeysRetroHandhelds  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hm, I haven't found Bluetooth headphones to be good on these devices honestly, but also the Miyoo is just fantastic and can usually be had for $30-40 USD. Not a lot of money for a really nice entry with a cool device. I think you might find it hits different than the Vita and 2DS.

    I'm super happy with my White Odin 2 Max that was delivered to me on Monday. Maybe the only nit-picking is that vertical shooters using Mame in Retroarch with Integer scaling results in a small playing window. The RGB30 may be an option for this in the near future or just play them on the Steam Deck.

It's infinitely smarter to spend $400 or more and get one handheld that can do everything than it is to buy 10 handhelds that can't do everything and cost well over $400 combined.
