Hello I need help finding a GBA game I use to play when I was kid. It is a tactic game like Onimusha. However I remember the cartridge was red but apparently there aren't that many red GBA games. Anyway it was about this one dude who fights monsters instead of humans, it was like a dark fantasy game. Any idea?

I can't believe Final Fantasy Tactics Advance didn't make it into this list. I put so many hundreds of hours into that game and replays because of the sheer amount of content in that game! It's my top favorite GBA game!
Really strong entries on this list! Sonic Advance 2 and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity are my favorite games in both of those franchises, and both Metroid games on the system were some of the best in that series as well! Excited to see your GBA hidden gems, and a Nintendo Wars retrospective! Exciting things for the channel this year, keep it up!
Some gems we didn’t get in this video but are absolutely worth your time: Boktai: the Sun is in Your Hand, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral town, Mario and Luigi: Superstar saga, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Love most everything on this list!
Great list!! GBA is my favorite system of all time and the game library for it is fantastic. Some of my favorites are Mother 3, Mario Golf, Mario & Luigi, Ninja Five-0 & Rhythm Tengoku. Keep up the good work!
Man the battle network line was incredible I went back played my MegaMan Battle Network and yeah it's still as good as I remember it it was like a blend of turned base Jrpg with elements of Pokemon with random viruses popping out in the network to fight you in the wild with a hint of Yu-Gi-Oh collecting all the cards to use in battle against the viruses.
Astro Boy is an incredible game and maybe the hardest I've ever played on hard difficulty, like you said, incredibly rewarding to beat the many challenging bosses in this game. It's a personal top 10 for me as well. Really great and unique list!
Here's some of my favourite AW videos: historical- m.ruclips.net/video/oLgJ14smTsA/видео.html Interesting facts - m.ruclips.net/video/c2Gr3BmQhog/видео.html And if you have a whopping 2 hours and 40 minutes to spare (treat it like a podcast rather than a video) m.ruclips.net/video/MYAHOY6OWO0/видео.html
I really resonate with what you mentioned about minish cap's pixel art. It's visuals are truly creme of the crop. Great vid, you're the gameboy god! Hallelujah 🙌
THANK YOU FOR ADDING MEGAMAN Battle Network!! Wouldve been criminal to not add, seems to be under rated imo in the old school games videos ive seen. Not many people seem to know of it
SWEET. I just installed RetroArch on my Series X and was looking for some great old games to pick first. This video couldn't have come at a better time for me :)
Great video Nick. Thanks. GBA is my favourite portable as it was basically a portable version of SNES, my favourite console. So many great games. Aria of Sorrow is the best game imo. Shout out to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance too
I have to say Castlevania Aria of Sorrow is one of my favorites as well!! Never heard of Gunstar Future Heroes going to have to put that on my list for September. My budget for August is spent. Glad to see 2 puzzle games made your top list! Also did not know about Astro Boy Omega Factor going to have to put that down for next month as well. Sadly my original GBA SP just stopped working. I do have a Analog Pocket to play my games. It's just use my budget to buy more game or fix my GBA SP? Tough Choice, but thanks for the Retro Break!
You made the most perfect 10 second intro. The fact you said you wernt going to include pikemon, Zelda, and mario games had me interested to keep watching. (Cause we all could guess the top 15 if they were included) I'm glad I wasn't thebonly one there found the Crash Bandicoot game to be amazing. I was a kid with limited income and that was one of the games that was the biggest bang for the buck because it was a big game.
I think you nailed it with this review. Doom should have been on there somewhere just because it was such an incredible port, but yeah...I threw my hands in the air in joy when you announced Advance Wars as #1. Couldn't agree more. I remember seeing reviews for it in magazines and it was the reason I bought the GBA shortly after its release. I was really into Command & Conquer back in those days and I thought it was going to be a similar experience on the go, but it was completely different and ultimately even better than what I expected. It was so addictive and rewarding. Also props for including Crash on here. That was another one of my favorites and it doesn't get talked about much. There were a few released for it, but I think the one you reviewed is the one I had. I was really blown away by the graphics and music it had. It really felt like a PS1 experience in your hand. You're a great reviewer, dude. And solid collection! Subscribed.
A retrospective on the Wars series? Yes, that would be sweet. I played a lot of Battle Isle on the Amiga when I grew up and once I got a GBA Advance Wars felt like coming home, which isn't all that surprising as they share a lineage going back to Nectaris (both this and Famicom Wars coming from Hudson). Since then, turn based RPGs and tactical strategy games are among my favorite genres, so yeah, I would love to see a video on that series.
I enjoyed Nectar's when it came out on the Wii virtual console! I still have a few more wars titles to collect first, but looking forward to making the video! It will happen eventually :D
I find it interesting that none of my favourites were on your list, but that's a testament to how much amazing content was on the GBA For me some of the best games were Sigma Star Saga, sort of JRPG but all the combat is side scrolling space shooters. I loved Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. And V-Rally 3 was shocking in a 2D landscape
Wait, what!? The GBA is one of my favourite consoles of all time and Gunstar Heroes is one of my favourite games... How did I miss Gunstar Future Heroes!? Awesome list, definitely a few new ones here that I'll be checking out!
Thank you for mentioning spyro and metroid fusion, I spent so many hours on crash & spyro vol 2 and so many more beating metroid a few times as a kid, I originally played in a micro, got get the bigger version and play them again
Gunstar Super Heroes is actually probably my favorite game of all time. It’s fast paced action and responsive yet simple controls make this game a gem. It’s very unique and I love the story telling and how it makes 5 different stages seamlessly work together since your flying from one to the other. I definitely wish this franchise could be revived. It’s so original and unique, it would provide endless possibilities for today’s gaming industry.
@@RetroBreak After playing the Mega Man X series on SNES it was like a dream come true being able to control Zero with his saber at that speed. The skills you could get where awesome. MMZ 2 was the best one ;)
Advance Wars series yes please 🤯😌🥳 I love Advance Wars gameplay style so much, that I even searched the net for a similar game, and I found one, that I could play in the meantime until Advance Wars come out 😳😌 Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble is so good, I can’t stop playing it 😌

Great list. Love the GBA! Your list would be bolstered by the inclusion of some more tactics games like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Tactics Ogre! :) I was happy to see Advance Wars at the top of the list.
Astro Boy looks really good for a GBA! I kinda wish they'd reproduce the cartridges. I've only just gotten into gaming, and I also wonder why Wario Ware's aren't as popular. Those quick-plays are just hilarious.
@@RetroBreak Please please try it, it is so good and you have so much combination of class that you can do. For example a black mage and a white mage mix. Which they can do damage or heal their team mates.
I love your list. You got to play fire emblem on gba. Getting to the last battle is epic. Along they way you get into sticky situations and get to know the crew. Less is more sometimes with fire emblem for some
I have fond memories of playing Kuru Kuru Kururin; it was one of the most innovative puzzle games that stood out from the Tetris clones. Gunstar Heroes and Astro Boy also piqued my interest as they seemed like thrilling action games. I particularly love the helicopter scene in Gunstar, really impressive and epic.
Battle Network 3 is my #1 GBA title. The gameplay was so much fun, the bosses ranged from decently challenging to absolute ball-breakers, and it was always a cheer-worthy moment when you beat them. And the story! Holy hell, the story! I actually got a bit teary-eyed at several points throughout, which for me is a pretty rare feat for a game to accomplish. I was so moved by the story of BN3 that when I borrowed BN4 from a friend, I was SO disappointed. The writers just hit the reset button and it was like nothing from the previous game ever happened! Because of that I never actually bought my own copy of BN4 back in the day, it took YEARS for me to check out BN5, and I missed out on BN6 entirely. Definitely going to be picking up the collection to see what I missed! Runner up was Sonic Advance 1, and picking Sonic Advance 1 as opposed to the rest of the trilogy comes down mostly to the soundtrack. Those were some snappy tunes, and while Sonic Advance 2 matched its predecessor in terms of gameplay, the music of 2 and 3 just weren't quite there for me. And SA3, I found the tag-team gameplay neat, but only in small doses. I am VERY excited to play the Metroid and Golden Sun games on NSO. I only rented Golden Sun the Lost Age back in the day, but was wowed by the visuals and the bit of the story that I did get to experience. And I missed out on the Metroid games entirely. I'm not sure why it took me until Dread to actually get into the series, as I definitely found the GBA games appealing, I just never picked up and played them myself.
Thanks for that! I’ve just treated myself to a GameCube GBA player so I can actually see my GBA games on the big screen now which is a massive game changer. As I’m currently laid up following recent foot surgery there’s some great recommendations to explore and keep me busy for a while. You have an amazing collection I’m guessing you have brought all the games twice so you can keep the originals sealed and a open set to play? Anyway thanks again!
Sounds like the perfect excuse for some gaming time! Hope your foot gets better soon though! What games are you planning to play? And no, these aren’t sealed boxes, I just have box protectors on them. Although I don’t really use carts that much now I have an everdrive to put all the games on. It’s just more convenient that way, but I still love collecting for the GBA!
@@RetroBreak Thanks so much! Ah box protectors what a really great idea it makes your games look like they are sealed and such a nice way to preserve and store the boxes. So I’m currently playing my Pokémon collection, Spyro collection, Super Monkey ball, Pinball of the Dead, and Crash Bandicoot. But I’m quite interested in your recommendations for The Castlevania which I have the double pack of and also your recommendation for the Advance Wars which I sadly don’t have but will purchase on eBay and check out. I like the idea of Everdrive and will definitely check that out too but I quite like the nostalgia feeling of clicking the carts into the various consoles but that’s just me lol 😂 Anyway thanks for that! That should definitely keep me busy until I’m up and running again and beyond 😊. All the best and I look forward to your next recommendations 😊
My favorite GBA titles include Golden Sun duology as well as the Metroid games. I also do love Summon Night Sword Craft Story games which was my first GBA game when it came out. I would buy a GBA just to play these games again honestly.
Anyone played the Summon Night Swordcraft Story Games on GBA? I always love them and go back. Was really hoping to see it on the list but they always seem under the radar!
Favorite games growing up were fire emblem, final fantasy tactics, golden sun, Megaman , castlevania, metroid. So many great games on the gba. Actually bought a gba on ebay and gonna play some of these as an adult super excited
Could not agree more with your top two picks; Aria of Sorrow is the perfect Metroidvania, its so good I almost can't believe its on the GBA; And of course AW is the best underappreciated series ever.
Great list as always! Have to confess GBA is another one of those consoles I've barely dipped into, but I'm in the middle of Fire Emblem right now and I've been really enjoying it! Will have to give Advance Wars (and pretty much all the other games on this list lol) a shot sometime. I started Zero Mission once, but I have a chronic problem where I always drop metroidvanias partway through for some reason. It happens consistently and I'm not sure why lol Golden Sun always looked really cool to me, and I love Gunstar Heroes, so I'll have to try Super Heroes (and Astroboy) a shot too.
@@fieldystick Yep, Blazing Sword :) On Chapter 18x currently. Already almost completed it but Hector died to literally the last enemy on the map due to some seriously bad luck lol. Was just trying to get some extra XP :( Played some of Birthright years ago when it released and finished Verdant Wind in 3H more recently before FE7 but I've been enjoying it a lot
Hey there, first time watching your channel and I'm mesmerized by the amount of boxed games you have! I really enjoyed the games you've shown in this list. Can't wait to watch more of your content!
Good call on the Golden Sun games. Taken together they are really just one game that was just too big to fit on one cartridge (especially given that you can import your save from the first game into the second).
Well it looks like you’ve jumped into the algorithm as I finally stumbled across your channel! Love what you’re doing dude, it’s a very cosy feeling video as it’s great to hear how passionate and knowledgeable someone is about the GBA! One of my fave systems, really interesting picks, all it needed was a bit of Wario Land 4 haha 😛 keep it up bro 👍
16 years! The grind is real. Appreciate that, you’re clearly doing this because you have such a passion of retro games. Would there be any chance you could overview the NSO expansion pass games for game boy and GBA? And N64 and Mega Drive?? Just your opinion on their picks 😊 and what you want to see from them down the line? You might have already done a video like this but yeah! Interested in your opinion in general 👍👍
I've finished both golden sun games as a kid. I replayed them now as an adult, the first is just as amazing as I remember, but the second is so open and confusing, I have NO idea how I managed to find my way around as a kid :D
A shame that you didn't click with Fire Emblem, but I get it since for me it's the opposite and I never got into AW. btw Famicom Wars just got a translation patch. Really curious to hear if that's the same for Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, but if you never tried it check it out it really is a fantastic game. (Also Rhythm Tengoku, Hamtaro HamHam Heartbreak and Rainbow Rescue for something completely different)

Great list. Love the GBA! Your list would be bolstered by the inclusion of some more tactics games like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Tactics Ogre! :) I was happy to see Advance Wars at the top of the list.
I just found this channel yesterday and I'm glad I did.
Please yes, Advance Wars video!
Astro Boy looks really good for a GBA! I kinda wish they'd reproduce the cartridges.
I've only just gotten into gaming, and I also wonder why Wario Ware's aren't as popular.
Those quick-plays are just hilarious.
Astro boy is amazing! and Wario ware was popular back then, but some of the later entries haven't been so good...
Warioland 4. Do it.
How did Final Fantasy Tactics not make this list? That game is awesome!
Never played it..
@@RetroBreak Please please try it, it is so good and you have so much combination of class that you can do. For example a black mage and a white mage mix. Which they can do damage or heal their team mates.
Amazing number 15 pick it’s my favorite game on the GBA
I love your list. You got to play fire emblem on gba. Getting to the last battle is epic. Along they way you get into sticky situations and get to know the crew. Less is more sometimes with fire emblem for some
Great positive enthusiasm and energy in your presentation! Best luck with the channel! I look forward to more!
I think a lot of people would be happier in life if they had someone to scratch their back when it itches, but I suppose that is unrelated.
Awesome Top 15, I agree with many shown here from your picks, including the Minish Cap. Great channel too, congrats!
Minish Cap is so good! :D So glad it's on the switch now so new people can experience it for the first time!
Perfect timing, I just last night put an IPS screen in my AGB and I only have 3 games!
Wario Land 4 was iconic to me
Oh man totally reminded me that Gunstar Future Heroes existed, what an epic game.
The various Kuru games all lacked the crucial analogue input needed, IMO. Not their fault but still...
Good list you're missing Fire Emblem 7 in my view though. Big game debut fir that series and I much preferred to Advance Wars.
amazing collection mate 👌
Great stuff! Lets see the advance wars restrospective! : )
I’ll make it one day! :D want to try and get all the game boy wars games too
Battle Network 3 is my #1 GBA title.
Yeah BN3 was a masterpiece in my eyes,BN4 felt too tidious with the undernet searching and whatnot
Astro Boy is hands down one of the best GBA games I've ever played. Good shout with all of the games though!
such an informative video i really appreciate your honesty and sincerity thanks for such a cool video man
Top 15 GBA games not including Mario, Zelda, or Pokemon is a good concept. Bomberman tournament deserves to be on the list.
Great video and fantastic picks man! There's so many amazing gba games
History of advance wars!! 🙌
Awesome video thanks i was looking for new games to play! Love your Gameboy collection 👍🔥🥶
I've been really enjoying playing GBA again lately also really surprised how in depth and long some of these GBA games have been
Could not agree more with your top two picks; Aria of Sorrow is the perfect Metroidvania, its so good I almost can't believe its on the GBA;
And of course AW is the best underappreciated series ever.
It happens consistently and I'm not sure why lol
Golden Sun always looked really cool to me, and I love Gunstar Heroes, so I'll have to try Super Heroes (and Astroboy) a shot too.
FE7?
@@fieldystick Yep, Blazing Sword :)
On Chapter 18x currently. Already almost completed it but Hector died to literally the last enemy on the map due to some seriously bad luck lol. Was just trying to get some extra XP :(
Played some of Birthright years ago when it released and finished Verdant Wind in 3H more recently before FE7 but I've been enjoying it a lot
An actually interesting list, not just pokemon x / LoZ x / Mario x - great work!
Very impressive displays man!
Hey there, first time watching your channel and I'm mesmerized by the amount of boxed games you have! I really enjoyed the games you've shown in this list. Can't wait to watch more of your content!
stunning video, man
Good call on the Golden Sun games.
So glad RUclips is finally starting to share my videos! It's only taken 16 years... Hope you enjoy my other content too :)
Another good one that's underated is Summon Knight: Swordcraft Story
Just started watching and amazed there’s someone that played Gunstar on the gba before the Megadrive! U must be a lot younger than me lol
Saw Golden Sun coming as soon as he mentioned the joint entry, it just belongs on every one of these GBA lists
I've finished both golden sun games as a kid. I replayed them now as an adult, the first is just as amazing as I remember, but the second is so open and confusing, I have NO idea how I managed to find my way around as a kid :D
Hella good video
OOooh! Just found your channel. Instant sub! Great job on this video!
love to see my favorite franchise get attention. battle network is hours of fun.
