Contestants Randy and Andrew recap their dates (one good, one bad), and Cheryl reveals her pick before the show wraps up.
This was toward the end of Rich Jeffries' tenure as announcer before Johnny Gilbert took over the next season (and the new animated opening).
Trish is my mom! She met my dad shortly after filming this, and did not go on that second date with Andrew

You can sense their obliviousness. People had for the most part a very optimistic and positive outlook toward the future. I remember thinking it was going to be like Star Trek. It’s becoming more like Soylent green.

In college around 87, I had a gap between classes one semester. I’d go back to my dorm, put love connection on and take a nap. Watching it now I get panic flashbacks that I’m sleeping through my psych class.😂

I agree. Maybe they felt safe because the game show hooked them up. But as we see from the Dating Game (I believe that was the show with the serial killer as a contestant) that isn’t the case and they should be careful. Especially since it’s not like there are tv staff following them on their date.

The first week of June, 1988, when this was aired, was the first week my now wife and I started dating. After 33 years of marriage, I can say that I did have a Love Connection that same week!

Wow, he sound like he was the ditzy one. You have the same perfume that my mother-in-law and I hate her. I would have just sent him packing to go back home or to a bar to find another woman. No way would I have gone on a date with him. Yikes, he looks boring and very immature. I actually did that with someone on a blind date. The said he was tall dark and handsome. First he was bald ... I actually like bald men but he was shorter than me 5'5" and I am 5'7" so I just said sorry but I have to go ... oh, and he was also late by 30 minutes. I ate one appetizer and a glass of wine before he walked in .... both the bartender and I just had open mouth unbelievable expressions. I told the bartender what was going on and he just felt sorry for me .... 2 days later the bartender called to make a date ... he got my number from my blind date who was dazed and confused. I accepted and that was a fun date!

All scripted/fake. Like "bad guys" or heels in Big Time Wrestling back in the day. Many hoped to get cast on bit parts in day time soaps based on their appearance here
I think people are still abusive but hide it differently. I would rather have people be who they truly are immediately

I went to this show with my friend Yvonne from SanDiego.. we had so much fun. We sat on Chuck Woolery's red car... they told us not to turn around and wave at the camera, but we did anyway it was a riot!!
These were the days! Now we have shows like 90 Day Fiancé, Love is Blind, Married at First Sight & The Ultimatum…no dating at all! Lol 😂 Wonder what kind of shows there will be in another 20-30 years?!

Man I remember the 80’s and it was the most incredible time to grow up. I remember being a kid and when I wanted to stay home from school I had to go to my grandads house ( he was from England ) and didn’t care what I did lol ( he thought I was perfect 😂 ) I think the tv had maybe 6 channels and I would watch this shit all the time
