    I watch a lot of different videos of people changing the oil in their Honda FourTrax 300's and by far are the best video!

    Thanks a lot for this video! Just got a 99 300 trx last month and it's been due for a oil change. I had no idea where the filter was and no clue how much oil it would take. I'll be changing it asap.

    I wouldn’t jack the front way in the air like that cause there is still a lil old oil in the transmission , changing it on flat ground is best

    Had a bad carb that would allow the gas in the line after shutting off fuel to enter crank, 3rd carb in 2 years.. the stock carb was damaged by previous owner, replacement ones had issues with needle n seat corroding, assuming 2nd one did same, would shut off fuel every time shut down unit and still gas was getting into crank.. Finally a 3rd doesn't seem to be doing it, but that gas had ethanol which absorbed water and since I never get much more than 10 minutes of riding at a time, just use to get mail, drag boat out of lake in fall, pull trailer for wood on property, etc.. had been changing oil without the filter and that must have kept a small amount of dirty oil each time and she was milky right away.. now with sub zero temps, got that last carb installed, seems like every carb has its own choke design, but got the choke working properly. Previous carb would start up -20F without priming, that gas from line to bowl emptying out after every use, likely didn't need, this one full choke starts 20F on up no prime, every 10F colder requires 1 pump... so think issue is fixed, just need to get that milky oil out.. no crank vent like a street bike, hoping this next oil change with filter cures the issue. may take longer ride around lake if it warms up, no real joy being a glasses wearer to rider her too far in extreme cold, no goggles give me more than a few minutes before icing up when extreme cold,, wanted a snorkel to exhale, will have to design one to fit my mask.. anyhow,, good video.. been running 15-40 Delvac in all my bikes. at -30F was almost too thick, if she didn't start up so fast the 7 year old battery may have let me down.. I see you ran 10w synthetic oil, a bike oil, may try a synth diesel oil in her next, no friction modifiers to mess with clutches in diesel oil.. I pulled plug wire off and spun her over a few times and few more ounces came out.. but had filter in it... didn't know we could go to 10w oil.. that would be handy in this cold...

    Nice tutorial. Do you still have this ATV? thinking about buying one and wondering if these quads are reliable thanks.

      Eugene Krabs yeah I still got it. It's super reliable. Just dragged it out of the she'd for the first time in months and it fired right up.

      Eugene Krabs they are bout bulletproof I’ve bought mine in 2009 & had the top end rebuilt( new piston & rings) due to the owners kid riding it for years & not checking or changing the oil & since rebuild in 2010 I’ve had zero problems but one bad wire that’s it extremely reliable

    Can you use 10w-40 oil instead?

    • @DirtRoadGarage
      @DirtRoadGarage  6 лет назад +1

      If it's a motorcycle oil then yes. The motorcycle oil has friction modifiers for the automatic transmission.

    Are you sure that oil is safe for that four wheeler?

    • @scrubly_jr
      @scrubly_jr 4 года назад

      yeah. as long as it's 10w-40 oil meant for wet clutches it's good. that's what most motorcycle oils are
