Oh my. I just spent about five hour’s watching videos, draining gas, removing and cleaning my carburetor, trips to the auto store for cleaner and hoses, And reassembled the Honda. Nothing. Checked spark. Nothing. Watched this video and he mentioned the kill switch. Yep. It was the kill switch. Thanks for these vids.
Can the kill switch make you lose spark while riding....my battery boiled over too....any ideas of whats wrong would be great guys..??.... Plz help.....ty also found a blown fuse were the battery is located...replaced it then the neutral light started working again but the oil light never came on for a second like its suposed too...any ideas guys..???

The real question is. Did you buy the knock off stuff on amazon or something quality. If you purchased the knock off parts, you really still don't know if those parts you replaced are bad or good. I've followed all electrical lines and found no breaks or damage whatsoever, replaced the coil, and kill switch assembly (Complete left bar switches) after my 91 TRX 300 lost spark, but the cheep Chinese ebay CDI box only managed to take out my starter relay. Now that I've replaced the relay, is there A link, website, or part number you can provide, to purchase the correct CDI box? Thanks in advance!

ATV noob here trying to learn and get a ‘96 Fourtrax 4x4 going. I rebuilt the carb and got it running long enough to run it up to third gear and a spin around the yard before it died and wouldn’t restart. While testing for spark I was holding the plug wire and was getting a little buzz. When holding the part near the plug where the insulation is thicker I didn’t get the shock. Is this as expected, or does it indicate a problem with the coil/wire? Never saw spark either way.

I got my 2000 honda foreman fourtrax 400 to my place and I'm gonna work on it once it gets warmer. I've got to change the stator cause it has zero spark. I've changed everything I can think of to try an get spark but that's the last thing that I've been avoiding cause I dont know how to change it without taking the motor off the frame. Is there any way you'd be able to upload a video of you changing the stator for the foreman 400 while it's on the frame? You also helped me clean the carb for the fourwheeler when I got it running the first time
Hi, just recently purchased a 1996 Honda FourTrax 300 2x4. I know these are cold blooded machines, as I used to own a 1986 Big Red, so I'm used to that. However, mine starts up no problem, but after I turn the choke off, it idles good, but as soon as give it the gas, it chokes out? If i leave the choke on a little bit, then I can give it gas no problem. Do i need to clean the carburetor or is there something else I need to check? Even after it's run for a little while, if i'm riding it and slide the choke all the way off, it stalls out. Thank you for any advice you can give me.
I have a question. I just put in a new battery on my Honda fourtrax and the only way it will crank is by kick start. It starts the first kick every time and runs great but won't start electronically. The lights come on fine, I just can't get it to crank any other way than kick starting. Solinoid issue possibly?
I found out my 300 91 fourtraxs it just needed a new regulator rectifier and it shock the carp out of me run it around the yard and it blow a 15 amp fuse going to the key now I am lost ???
My question is what causes the CDI to go bad. I've fried 2 since I got my 99 300. Granted they were the cheaper ones, thankfully. Don't want to spend $150 on an OEM and have it fry too! Any help appreciated
the oem ones will last you years. most of the mid 90's are just now being replaced....or have been in the last 5 years. That's a life expectancy of 25 years. I would give an aftermarket one an expectancy of 1-3 months. If you've made it past that, go play the lottery because you are one of the lucky ones. THEY ARE JUNK! Bad design is where Honda failed. But then again, most things don't last 25 years anymore.
Found a 1984 TXR 200 in the barn of a property I bought last year. I tried to start it today unfortunately no spark. I am assuming the 84 I have is similar to the one in your video correct? Thanks for sharing all your valuable info, I am dead set on getting this old jem running at some point and can take all the help I can find.
Could be a couple things. 1. check that your run/off/run switch is in the correct position. You'd be amazed how many times that fixes it. 2. @sd rebel32 mentions the neutral switch, does your light up? If not that will need taken care of (sensor on the clutch cover) 3. If battery is good, the next thing I'd swap out is the starter relay. I have a video coming out on a test for that make sure you subscribe to my channel so you know when that comes out. Basically jump the 2 posts (very carefully) and see if it fires. If it does, more then likely you've got a bad relay. If none of these fix it let me know.
Funny story, my quad suddenly died on me with no spark. Im not a machanic AT ALL. So i replaced the spark plug....nothing. so i thought "right, next step would be to replace the ignition coil." So i order one and a week later I put it in the bike and...still nothing. Another few days go by and im just about ready to give up and trash it. I type my problem into youtube and this video popped up. When you started talking about the killswitch which i have never touched. So i thought id just check the killswitch and BOOM! The thing fired right up. It turns out i must of accidentally touched it while i was loading the quad with wood! 3 weeks and $50 gone because i didnt check to see if the killswitch was off! 😂 Classic. You just gotta laugh at these things ae?

Please help me I blow a 15 amp fuse going to the key but after I put a new regulator rectifier on it but it was missing the Black but it got spark it stated for the first time in 3 years ( cleaned and put new gas & filter on it ) but after about 5 minutes or so it just shut off now I have no spark or neutral light or oil & reverse light the red wire same to have shorted at the switch ??? It's hard to know for sure as it really could be any wire grounding out. Like this video suggests the CDI is a HUGE issue on these and I wouldn't rule that out for yours. If you've bought a cheapo reg/rec I would say you're back to square one. These are junk and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw your fourtrax. Let's start with what brand of reg/rec did you get? Second, any black or burnt wires at the connector of the reg/rec? Third, I'm sure you've check for chewed up wires. Sitting that long my guess is mice have gotten into the harness. Inspect every inch of it and let me know. Thank you for watching and the comment. I replaced the cdi box no spark, I put new spark plug and coil still no spark also new ignition coil and battery thinking the stator. Is there a pick up coil on the stator any other ideas? 1996 honda trx300
Another way to fix the CDI box is to put it in the oven at 250°F for 10 minutes and then let it cool down and retry it, it works 8 out of 10 times normally. Good luck
Plz help....have no spark, when i turn the key on the neutral light comes on but the red oil indicator light doesnt come on for a sec and go off like it should...i was riding and it bogged down and went boutta mile then quit...the battery boiled over, I found a blown fuse and replaced it and the green neutral light started working again..I have neutral light and reverse only it cranks over good...i replaced the oil sensor and still no spark....help plz..

1998 honda fourtrax 300 starting problems 30% of the time electric start works, 70% of the time you have to use the kick starter. I think it is the starter solenoid what do you think?

ANYBODY PLEASE HELP so I have a 1987 Honda fourtrax 125 it’s ran every year but this one I changed the spark plug ignition coil cdi box oil filter air filter the whole 9 yards but the reverse and neutral are on at the same time it dosent turn over and I can’t shift up past 1 also my “kill switch” the quad still tries to turn over even if it’s not on the start setting
I bought a cheap eBay battery and got 6 years or so out of it. Bought another one and got 3-6 months. I just think it's a quality control thing and there not consistent

I bought new icb alarm and coil/plug. Still nothing. I even pulled them off my 250 and tried those as I know they work. Still nothing🤯. Powers going to coil box but nothing to the spark plug🤔
I'll throw a wrench at ya....I have a very clean original '86 Fourtax 350 4x4 that has good spark, clean carburetor, good air filter, good starter, good battery, fuel pump works, good fuses and good 100 octane fuel that is an absolute NO START. This thing won't even try to pop. Getting ready to just part it out in my eBay store as I am tired of throwing hours into this thing.

What kind of oil you used in the 300
I like the castrol 10w40 semi-synthetic oil: amzn.to/3XjIsB9. Otherwise a cheaper, but decent option is: amzn.to/43O2Sou NOT car oil.

put your CDI in the oven! trust me, 250-260 faren for 10 min.
stator can be tested, all yellow wires should have continuity

My Honda 300 starts Most of the time with the kick starter, but the start button is Dead? Any ideas??? Battery is fairly new & fully charged!

Please help me I blow a 15 amp fuse going to the key but after I put a new regulator rectifier on it but it was missing the Black but it got spark it stated for the first time in 3 years ( cleaned and put new gas & filter on it ) but after about 5 minutes or so it just shut off now I have no spark or neutral light or oil & reverse light the red wire same to have shorted at the switch ??? Help
It's hard to know for sure as it really could be any wire grounding out. Like this video suggests the CDI is a HUGE issue on these and I wouldn't rule that out for yours. If you've bought a cheapo reg/rec I would say you're back to square one. These are junk and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw your fourtrax. Let's start with what brand of reg/rec did you get? Second, any black or burnt wires at the connector of the reg/rec? Third, I'm sure you've check for chewed up wires. Sitting that long my guess is mice have gotten into the harness. Inspect every inch of it and let me know. Thank you for watching and the comment. I replaced the cdi box no spark, I put new spark plug and coil still no spark also new ignition coil and battery thinking the stator. Is there a pick up coil on the stator any other ideas? 1996 honda trx300
My stater is only putting out 7 volts
Another way to fix the CDI box is to put it in the oven at 250°F for 10 minutes and then let it cool down and retry it, it works 8 out of 10 times normally. Good luck
Plz help....have no spark, when i turn the key on the neutral light comes on but the red oil indicator light doesnt come on for a sec and go off like it should...i was riding and it bogged down and went boutta mile then quit...the battery boiled over, I found a blown fuse and replaced it and the green neutral light started working again..I have neutral light and reverse only it cranks over good...i replaced the oil sensor and still no spark....help plz..
Neutral light comes on but the oil light dont come on for a second then go off like it always has......what could the problem be, ibe lost spark also.....plz help.....??????

30% of the time electric start works, 70% of the time you have to use the kick starter. I think it is the starter solenoid what do you think?
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports it just ticks when you hit the start button but it's not a dead battery kind of ticking it just ticks once

ANYBODY PLEASE HELP so I have a 1987 Honda fourtrax 125 it’s ran every year but this one I changed the spark plug ignition coil cdi box oil filter air filter the whole 9 yards but the reverse and neutral are on at the same time it dosent turn over and I can’t shift up past 1 also my “kill switch” the quad still tries to turn over even if it’s not on the start setting

I bought a cheap eBay battery and got 6 years or so out of it. Bought another one and got 3-6 months. I just think it's a quality control thing and there not consistent
Ya take some ya loose some. Unfortunately, some people can't afford to take that risk. I agree with you tho. There are some decent knockoffs. 1 out of 14,000 roughly. : )
I bought new icb alarm and coil/plug. Still nothing. I even pulled them off my 250 and tried those as I know they work. Still nothing🤯. Powers going to coil box but nothing to the spark plug🤔

I'll throw a wrench at ya....I have a very clean original '86 Fourtax 350 4x4 that has good spark, clean carburetor, good air filter, good starter, good battery, fuel pump works, good fuses and good 100 octane fuel that is an absolute NO START. This thing won't even try to pop. Getting ready to just part it out in my eBay store as I am tired of throwing hours into this thing.
