I am the least mechanically inclined person I know. Thanks to your video series, I was able to change out my own carb and get my grandpas 1988 fourtrax running. Thanks for the great explanation and detailed video!
Glad to see someone knows how to work on things and doesn't curse like a sailor. Good Job! this really helped.
most trx300 vids I've watched make it look really complicated. you've presented it in a really simple to understand way. thanks.
This guy is a blessing and his videos are really well done! Gives me some confidence that maybe I'll be able to get my old 300 up and running right again.
Sat for five years and that float pin slid right out you lucky bastard. I’ve had a few that I wasn’t so lucky. Great video very informative, to the point. Thx
Thanks so much. Due to this video I was able to get my 1988 four trax running again.
Thanks for the excellent instructions and clear and steady camera angles! My '88 wouldn't idle and it was overdue for a carb overhaul. I appreciate your expertise as do many of us with these 'classic' bikes. Keep up the great work.
You are the best presenter I’ve ever seen on RUclips for it comes to rebuilding or explaining mechanical processes. You should do this for a living and sell your videos
Thank you for providing an in depth video series. I've had factory training on Stanadyne, Delphi, Zexel, Denso and Bosch diesel pumps and injectors but I don't have much experience on gas carbs. Your step by step approach is the best way for anyone to learn how to clean and rebuild this carb. Great job!
Thank you for the 4trax videos, they help me get the old 4wheeler back up and running.
I have the same ATV, that sat for years too. I followed his video, and did everything like he said. It started right up! The only thing that I had trouble with was getting the intake tube out. It sure didn't come out as easy as the one he worked on!! But for an old lady, I think I did pretty good!
Just want to thank you for saving me about $100 in a trip to the atv repair shop and giving me a better understanding on how to work on atv carbs, I had a fuel overflow issue where gas was draining out the bottom reservoir of the carb and after taking it apart and cleaning it no more leak. I did research and found it was something to do with the needle Not seeding correctly and triggered a gas overflow. Now she runs better and idles better too!
Had fuel leaking out of hose on bottom of carb.Watched your video and was able to make repair by myself instead of taking to a dealer.Piece of rubber hose under float needle just as you advised.Removed debris ,cleaned everything, reassembled no more leak.THANKS for great video and pic quality.
just finished getting it back together. Need to adjust the low jet a bit (have to find 3rd video) but you made it so easy!!! Thank you!!!!
D-Ray just want to give you my thanks from the east coast of Canada this video saved my old Honda
Good video. I've watched other Honda ATV "carburetor rebuild" videos and they gloss over some things and completely leave out other important information. You do a great job discussing each component, what it's function is, and how to inspect, clean and replace. Very helpful. Thanks.
Fantastic video, I came here because my 2003 TRX isn't idling, you convinced me to let an expert do it!
Appreciate the thorough explanations and the terrific videography! Will be tackling this project for the first time very soon. Many thanks! 👍🏼
By far this is the best video on how to take a carburetor apart and getting to The carburetor very detailed thank you for your time in making this video it helped me a lot
Good stuff D-Ray!
Thank you so much, that is a great how to video. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Helped me out a lot.
Very clear instructions and the video was also easy to see all the parts. You rock!!!
this is one of the best instructional videos on RUclips, thanks, I rebuit a carb on an 88' Honda Fourtrax 300 with your help
You are an amazing teacher..I have no experience in mechanics and did it the first time without any problem. Thanks
Nice Work! Watched all three. Starting a carb rebuild on my Foreman TRX450 now. This helped greatly. Thank you.
Excellent set of videos D-Ray. Very well done and the explanations as you go along are great!Hope you keep making these... Thanks,Glen
I've had problems with my TRX 500FA8's carburetor so I've been watching tons of these videos on RUclips. This one had the best video quality with a great zoom, good clear presentation, bad-ass music 😂 and this happened to be the only one that solved one of my big headaches! I disassembled the carb after watching couple of these videos. Easy enough! But while cleaning the carb, one small nozzle suddenly fell off. I had no idea where it belonged to! Well, it was the nozzle at 9:30 on this video.
The two other problems is that my carburetor was missing the jet holder and the idle mixture screw has no groove in it. It has a cylinder-shaped top with a small notch in it. If it had another notch on the opposite side, it could (in theory) be opened with a spanner. But it only has a notch on one side so I'm thinking that whoever put it in there didn't want it to be touched at all. Fair enough! One less part for me to toy with. But the missing jet holder puzzles me. Has it been missing since from the factory or did they forget to put it back in at Honda service.
The best on how to I ever done. I might open a shop now. Thx dude.
Thanks Mr. D-Ray, this video was very helpful for my Honda Foreman carb repair - you do excellent video work for us shade tree guys to learn from and keep us from making matters worse, much obliged.
Just bought a Honda 300 for 300 bucks it won’t idle right and needed a spray of starter fluid to get it on this is very helpful thank you so much
Great video... Much better than any others I have seen. You saved me, because I had the carb off of my 400, and I had taken out all the jets for cleaning, but then noticed I had an extra piece that had fallen out. It was the little piece that goes in before you screw in the main jet emulsion tube.
Not sure if I would have ever figured out where it went without this video. THANK YOU!
The things never die I got given one that had been sitting outside for at least 8 years with a fully rusted out frame and just gave it a carb clean and fired up like it had been running the day before
4/29/24 Just ordered a china one off Amazon. Never messed with this before, no shop, outside. Just swapped it out with new carb an took 3 hrs, first time..Ez fix. started right up, few hurdles butnot many. Now I will try an clean my old one. .. but ya, was a little bit intimidated cause shit never goes like use to. in an out, would be like 2 hours but changed out to new hoses, an when re assembling some little quarks have to work threw as first time ya did it.. but ya ........not bad at all.. Didnt realize 1 bolt an tank is off.. ezzy breezy.. thanks man!!!
thanks so much for video! im in the middle of rebuilding my 1996 300. you have made it alot easier!
Great job! Thanks for showing step by step with good (and steady) camera work. I imagine most Honda 4-wheelers have a similar carb. My 2004 Honda Recon 250 better get ready for a carb cleaning!
I love this guy. very clear and easy to understand.
Best how to video I have come across. Outstanding job. Thanks
Great stuff man....tyvm for posting these....
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I needed to know which way that piece above the main jet goes in for my 400ex and this solved it for me!!
Outstanding 3 part series!!
Nice job and good clear concise explanations and video. Wish I would have watched this yesterday before tearing down my 06 foreman I just picked that had been sitting as well, luckily it all went well. Those older models and the Ranchers are so much easier to get to everything than that Foreman that is totally shrouded in plastic, plus I had to take out the whole airbox as well. Not too bad when I figured out how to remove all those body plugs.
Thank God for guys like you... :-)
Excellent video and explanation of how everything works. Many thanks.
I'm gonna attempt this!! My buddy gave me a nice trx 300 that has sat for 3 yrs. If I can get it running he's gonna give me another one! Your video is perfect!! Thank you!! I'll let u know how it goes!!
great detail! going to watch part 2 now
Awesome video, great quality.
Thank you so much for making this video!!!
Great video D-ray, really detailed. Like it.

Great series of videos, thanks bud
I just really commend your efforts on this video. The zoom in was fantastic. One of the best "how to" videos I've seen. Great quality. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to post it.
Thanks, this video was really clear. Great camerawork and detailed explaining.
I'm about to attempt another carb cleaning on my 1999 Honda Rebel, because my pilot jet is still clogged. It starts but dies when I turn off the enricher (the "choke").
Great job, D-Ray!
Great vid!!! Thank you for posting!!!!!

great video very well done
Great video. Mine is a 1999 so the intake tube is different (don't know how you'd snorkel it), but all the rest - disassembly hint etc were very helpful. Thanks
Great job easy to see how it is done good camera work
GREAT VID....must do the carb on my 2001 fourtrax....your video gives me confidence..hahah Peace.
LOVE the DETAILS & CLOSE UP, even a idiot like me could follow that!, with all that detail I can't believe you don't use a ultra sonic cleaner
thanks so much i did what you said and put it back on and it fired right up
very good video. now i know exactly what to do.
Dude you saved me on this one thank ye
This is amazing
good video you get straight to the point
Great video, Thank you
Great vids 👍🏻💯
Good to see a working man's hands.
d-Ray This video is most awesome
Thanks Jeff!
Thanks for the video!
Thanks Ronnie!
It could be either the left or right crankcase cover, or the center cases themselves. When tracking down an oil leak, I start by pressure washing all the oil off, let it dry, then start the machine and look under it with a light to find the source. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for your info and videos. helped a little on my 250.. Slightly diff from the 300. lol...
This video is great at helping a novice like me on cleaning a carburetor. When I took the slide and the diaphragm out the diaphragm is brittle and it is cracked in manny places does that hurt at all?
Thanks
Kyle
Fantastic- Thanks !!
thank you for the video!
J Collins! I thought the same exact thing my five-year-old and my 7 year old ride it's their life and yeah !!!
nice clear video!
Very good video
Love ur vids i looking to get a 4x4 four wheeler but not sure which one to get as far as part availabel and after market
Nice job
Great video. close-up was very useful. I'm missing the choke jet plug. Any suggestions? Thanks
What would you recommend for the choke valve being stuck inside of the carb. 92 fourtrax 300 with a loss of power at 3/4 throttle or more
good work!
Watched all three of your video and they were very informative. I'm working on a friends 2001 TRX350FE ATV. I'm at the point of taking out the Choke cable and loosened the nut all the way out, but the cable will not come out.....any ideas
Where do you get your in Line fuel filters. What size are they and who makes them. I like that they are clear.
I used this great video to clean and rebuild my carb using all original hard wear. Its running and before it was not.
Thank you for your tips of the trade
Great video and thanks very much for the detail. Definitely the most thorough video out there for this work. After getting everything together, my overflow is leaking fuel. Any reason why you can think that would happen. Thanks in advance.
Great video.i think I can dio it now. 1 Question my flote valve is sticking what is the chances of carb.being adjusted after rebuilding it
Awesome! thanks
First off I want to say thank you for all your videos on the older Hondas. They have been very helpful. I have a question that I just can't seem to find the answer to. I have a 1988 trx300 that idles fine and revs fine in neutral and runs good in reverse but will misfire in any forward gear with more than about 10% throttle. Any ideas?
hey. thanks so much. so glad I found this video. now we can drag deer
Got any suggestions for a non-oem fuel petcock that doesn't cost a bundle and actually works and has the right size fuel hose nipple ?
Backfiring is usually a sign of a fouled spark plug, so I would try that first. If that doesnt fix it, check all your vent hoses to the carb, and fuel tank for an obstruction, this can cause a fuel starvation to the carb. if none of these work, and still only runs on the choke, most likely your carb is plugged up.
thank you d ray I rebuilt my carb on my 88 got the moose kit runs great bought it not running very gratifying doing yourself 1 question how do you put into reverse
I am rebuilding a Honda 250 ES carb. When I removed the emulsion tube there was no small tube under it. Should there have been one there? Thank you for your response
