  • Valve adjustment Fourtrax 300 - TRX300 at beginning of video. Tools needed, disassembly description, before and after. Hope this helps you.
Note: .15mm or .006 inch feeler gauge. (Page 57 in Manual) 1988
Note: Adjust on the compression stroke.
    MARKINGS ON FLYWHEEL
T or (T With Hash Mark) = TDC (USE THIS TO ADJUST) (Compression Stroke)
F = Initial Spark Advance 1300RPM or less timing light shows this.
II (Dual Hash Marks) = (Timing Advance)- 1300RPM or more, timing light shows this.
    FINDING THE COMPRESSION STROKE
Removing the spark plug placing a finger over the hole notice air push out on the rotation. With plug in place while rotating it will feel like a tightening. Also, both valves will have play as apposed to exhaust stroke.
Best thing I did to this Fourtrax so far - besides a muffler. It runs and sounds nearly new!

Question: For Engine PRO's - I went slightly tighter on the valve adjustment using the gauge. Will this cause any issue down the road? What I notice is that the valves rockers have some play side to side and rattle somewhat. The noise was reduced. I do not know the run time hours of this engine, yet may do a compression test to get an idea of the wear. - Thank you any input!

Thanks i needed to know if the T was the one who is on its side. Cause there are 3 marks on the fly wheels 1st 2 stripes a 2nd mark that looks like a t or h or 2 lines and then the T layed down with 1 line i got confused

Hi Robert. It did slightly. There are multiple marks, so I put that info the video description. I plan to go back and check it again with the correct marks that has a "T" and one line. Take care.

Hi again Robert. I readjusted yesterday, marks on the "T" and line. I went slightly tighter, and it made some sound difference. Thanks for your comment!

@@SteveAddis It could be a worn out cam chain. hondas these years are known for this, especially on their three wheelers!

@Spectra4l You may be correct. I hope not to go that deep into working on it for a while. I adjusted it slightly better since this video and it seems quieter. Thank you for your comment! :)
