- Today I'm finally spraying the rear door jams with 2K epoxy primer! After body working dents, cleaning and scraping old texture coat, I finally have the door jams sanded down and coated with Transtar 2in1 primer. To prep the door jams for epoxy, I sand the high build primer with 120 grit then scuff it with the scotch bright pad then clean with windex. I then spray the jams with MAX 2K expo primer. That tool they sent you is a 12v Angle die grinder to replay your air one. Love mine barely use my compressor since getting into the M12 and M18 lines
Shake the fking paint up mo betta and don't drop it..
Make sure you read the TDS sheet on that epoxy primer some epoxy after you add activator needs to setup in the cup before you shoot. Also check the flash times in between coats or it will solvent pop.
At this pace you'll get to the system when nvx closes for good

I was always told that you never sand with just your hand. It will leave little valleys because your hand isn't completely flat. Always use a block.
to be fair a lot of the parts he was sanding would be a nightmare using a block. It's true a block is better but he was mostly just scuffing it up anyway

Bruh, the back doors are the least important part of the van and you've probably burned a week just scraping and sanding them.
so when he installs everything he is not going to open those doors to show off his work. that's the first thing people are going to see. lol. plus Doug is going to be Doug. its going to take him 5 years to finish just the back half of the van. lmao. took him two to finish the door panels.
That back door is the last thing his victims see before smelling chloroform. It’s an important detail!

Bro we are going to on this van for 10 more years if we keep doing the cha-cha slide back and forth between steps. Body work the whole van guide coat and block the whole thing and the spray 2 coats of epoxy, 2 coats of base coat and 3 of clear wet on wet ... Then sand the whole outside with 1000 grit on a D.A. (like a porter cable) and spray 2-3 more coats of clear. Cut and buff and you're done 👍
Never had the expected results from standard paint remover. Always just end up using aircraft stripper. Eats through everything including grip tape.

0000 steel wool to clean overspray or anything off windows. It super cleans them

leave the aircraft paint remover on .. and keep adding layers then let it sit under some plastic for like 5 mins or so before scraping off
U should put a grip tape cut out stencil of "SHIT HOWDY" on the back door jamb scuff plate
Cover up the Mule Doug, gonna get overspray all over it. Use a 6” flap disk on a grinder, it will take that black shit of real quick.

Honestly the trans star primer is a waste of time and money could have just gone straight to any 2 k primer..... Epoxy primer is intended for bare metal and normally doesnt sand well

Exo doesn't even have his doors started...or alternator(s) installed....he only has 2 walls, floor, ceiling and baffle ready. They both have a lot left to do, with that being said it took me a little over a year to wall my daily by myself 🤷♂️

Buying primer and sealer by the can instead of using a spray gun and Buying a gallon probably screwed you my 100's
With all the time your putting into something no one is ever going to see it’s shame you don’t know someone with a cnc that could cut acrylic door panels..or have components you could mount in the doors behind the acrylic..
Call your landlord over the van will be painted in 2 hours tops all he requires is off white gallon of paint and one paint roller he will get everything dash and all but be careful he might get carried away and go over all the shop switches and outlets
Legend has it, he is still not finished priming the door jams/doors. it'll probably bend the doors.
That 2K is going to 4K your lungs if you DON'T wear a Respirator!
Dear Doug if u would like to learn to paint u need a decent paint gun once u have gun then u can use good primer while your priming your also learning gum control ,basic blend techniques , gun set , I start my students with prime for this reason by the time we start learning to paint they more comfortable with the gun and confident if u would ever like some advice hit me up get ready for failures it's part of the process HAPPY PAINTING DOUG
