- Today I begin building the new sub woofer box for THE MULE. I will be building a sealed box for a NVX Audio 10 inch sub woofer. The box will be carpeted with a vinyl front.

What's wild is the whole reason I found this channel was because the video of him building the original box in the mule kept popping up in my youtube feed. Now here we are, he's building another. A monumental moment, feels like we're getting remarried ❤️ 🤣

This box build actually took 3 months to build but with the magic of editing we get to see it in 24 minutes.. Good job Doug can’t wait to hear it bump!!

I've always found it's much easier to seal the inside of a box with silicone if you assemble it but leave the BACK for the last piece. This way you can seal the backside of the baffle and all the other inside corners very well and neatly. Then just reach through the speaker hole to seal the back as the last step instead of trying to jam a spoogegun into the hole and missing spots that you can't see or can't get your arms/hands into with a rubber glove. Done it this way for decades and NEVER had a box leak air! Even for those boxes where the pieces aren't 100% PERFECTLY cut.
P.S.~ I miss my Fukuda square. Ran it through the router and destroyed it AND the router bit, and it grabbed and kicked back and hit me square in the junk at like 100mph. Made me drop for like 30 minutes.😢

new box is done in half an hour 👍
Well the last one had glass panels and was a 6th order I think, plus a JL w7 8
Not to mention highly intricate design
This one gets a emveeaxe so no special treatment required.

every young gun I know of that has tried to move to Florida ends up moving back home lol. can't afford to live there unless you are retired. excellent choice on coming back and starting his own thing. nice use of stuff laying around the shop. enjoyed watching you bring the mule some fresh air.

spray glue and a little tooling gets it to sit in there nicely. common box building practice.
@@terryfales3371with or without cutting? I figure you could cut it and get it to sit in but if it's vinyl wrapped I can't imagine how that'd be possible without creasing
@@OtherDalfite I don't know where my reply went but I still got a notification of a comment..... You just stretch it like normal and massage it into the engraving. Fabric is plyable and easily contours into shallow engravings.
Don’t forget to add some heat!! For extra pliabilititty!!

How about passive radiator testings video. Them go into a small space.

Should be able to run that profile cutout pass in 2 depths max with a 1/4" endmill. 1 pass should be doable roughly 18000 rpm and 115 ipm at full depth and that is being conservative.

I know that nvx is your sponsor. Everything would be better if that was a w7 sub Doug. I just did custom fiberglass a pillars with grills, focal tkmx tweeter with es100k 4” as a mid. Kx2’s in the doors and a 8w7 rear firing center console. Zapco 8 channel dsp and 3 Jlaudio xd series amps. Kenwood headunit dmx957xr with the hd rear camera in my Mercedes metris cargo van. I haven't made a subwoofer box in YEARS! but when I did, I used Liquid Nails and wood screws. Was that a bad idea? It seemed to work just fine.
Nice work on the cnc router. I know it can be a bitch to get stuff like that up and running for the first time. Been doing prototype aerospace machining for 12 years.
This is one clean box, shame it's not ported, would add few db of bass. Still, I bet its more than enough for that small cabin! :)

They are on opposite ends of the country last I checked. Doug’s has the carbon roof and a few extra bits, that one had a sunroof and Florida plates on it.
