  • Dynamic's "Radius" Rollback at work on a truck rollover which once again highlights its ability to work a wreck recovery without totally blocking traffic flow. Using Dynamic's rotating rollback bed allowed us to safely remove the vehicle from the scene without closing both lanes of traffic.

      If he woulda used a snatchblock and threw it in gear before he flipped coulda easily just pulled it on from the way he was at the time.

    brave of you to post this and you're gonna get a lot of hate. but this is great to use as a training video and allows us to point out things we learned to be bad choices.
    I don't see any advantage in the bed and little advantage in the remote. invest in snatch blocks.
    a good driver, without any gadgets. could load this in under 12 minutes at idle.
    note : wrecker drivers with remotes,
    a guy had his around his neck and went to remove his safety chains, leaned against the remote and it triggered it. to lower crushing his skull.( could of been this guys foot)
    you see the bed drop... it has no delay. Be safe out there.

    • @joepearce3768
      @joepearce3768 Год назад +2

      The rotator bed actually has numerous advantages, just as a rotator wrecker. I agree with you that the remote needs work, as it's "go/no go" and not proportional. That's all Lodar offers and I have had many conversations with them about designing a true proportional remote, but so far, nothing has been accomplished.
      This recovery posed a couple of obstacles that can't be seen from the camera angle. For example, I pulled in and tried to recover this truck while staying between the patrol cars. I'm not one to make them relocate their cars at all due to the risk of secondary accidents from shifting vehicles.
      This was done in real time and no editing. It is what it is.
      As with any video you can watch, there's always those who criticize you, but in all reality, they likely would do the same (if not worse) when facing the same situation.
      Snatchblocks can't be used the same on a rotator as with a regular rollback. Using snatchblocks with a load such as this will rotate the bed to center the load, just as a rotator wrecker boom will. Otherwise, it would break the turrent gear.

    Doing this work in the field is much harder than watching a video and trying to explain what they did wrong. BUT.. looking at it from my view the rollover was perfect. However I may have lined up on the back of the truck when it was nose in the ditch. Then bring it right up on my bed. I know this would have blocked both lanes but I think sometimes blocking 2 lanes for 5 minutes is better than only 1 lane for 20. At least in California highway patrol once the scene cleared yesterday. Again this is me Monday morning quarterbacking a video of a recovery that I was not boots-on-the-ground with. Meaning I didn't see everything he saw to make that decision. All-in-all well done

    • @joepearce3768
      @joepearce3768 3 года назад +1

      No, this causes no damage to the winch or any other components as the load never exceeded the capacity of the unit. These rotator rollbacks that we spec have a 12,000 pound winch with 7/16" super swaged cable. Jobs like this are not going to exceed the limitations of the unit.

    How about putting the damn thing in park use a snatch block and put that damn remote down ! First thing on rollovers put in park so once vehicle is back on its wheels it doesn't roll or set e-brake. Not only does it not roll away but it also slides to help you get on bed. Good ole thp there very patient called for his d-class and got a dumb-class operator.
