I had to surrender a truck when I was in my early 20s because I screwed up and bit off more than I could chew in car payments. When the repo man showed up, I walked outside, waved at him and handed him the keys to it so he could do what he needed to do. Sucked to surrender it and get a bad mark on my credit but I just can't understand how some people can get so angry and stupid and violent and fight so hard to keep a vehicle when the repo man shows up when they know good and well they haven't made the payments. Don't get mad at the repo man, he's just doing his job!

I think 95% of the resentment towards the repo men is that it’s always unexpected. Obviously it has to be like that to keep people from hiding the car, but I know that’s what upset me was just waking up one day and the car is gone. And then even when you do decide to go try to get it they treat you like shit. That act as if you’re a garbage human being instead of someone who is just struggling financially. And then they want $2000 for a $200 tow and parking your car in a gravel lot. It really is a shady hustle

I literally missed 2 payments because I got laid off, I was working with the bank to finish paying off (a$35k car and I only owed balance of $13k) and i always paid on time. They just came and took my car. I’ll never forgive that bank and you couldn’t pay me to use them again. Yes, I was late, but I literally had just got laid off, and divorced. And my ex was giving me the run around about giving me my 1/2 of the divorce settlement, plus I had my 12 year old depending only on me. Repo men SUCK!!! And so does that bank

I use a custom molded plastic sheet basically about 1 inch thick (2 .05 thick industrial plastic with a metal press lining in the middle) it presses almost flush against the wheel and feathers back towards the wheel well and have basically carpet knives on the end , reaching under would cut an or slice a persons hand but also makes the back of the wheel not fully rounded so it’s hard to wedge any types of lifts . Unintentionally it’s like that because there’s a rash of tow companies in my town towing illegally by “mistake” and they let your car go because it it was a “mistake” but like 90 percent of these “mistakes” make your catalytic converters disappear on there lot and of Course they’re protected from that by state law . So basically a few companies are “Cat diping” here. I was able to use it , because the hoa tow guy definitely challenged me. Turns out they let me use it because it’s designed as a deterrent against catalytic converter theft but it makes the car extremely hard to tow but not impossible, almost nothing is impossible to tow and most cars are designed with some way to tow in mind because of emergency purposes. Notice all the cars started popping up with lil squares on the front 😂 if someone with a tow truck wants your car bad enough there going to get it. Even if you take all the wheels off 😂

The operator even checked the door to see if they left the key or if were unlocked so he could try straighten out the wheels and put a strap on the steering wheel. The tow driver was so happy he didn’t have to go through a bunch of stuff to get the car. When the gate security called I just told them to let them in. The driver was so surprised, he said most times in places like this he has to track the vehicle down outside of home.

Due to miscommunication from my bank once, a repo driver drove through my yard to pick up my car, destroyed $13,000 worth of landscaping, and irrigation system. I removed keys from the wrecker and called the police, turned out to be a real mess. Poor driver was on his 2nd repo by himself. Bank used a 3rd party to contract the repo.
Long story short, what remained owed on car was paid off, and the tow company insurance paid for the damages to my yard.
