I wholeheartedly believe Lupe can write a How Much a Dollar Cost or a Blacker the Berry. However, I don’t think Lupe can create a Swimming Pools or Alright (hit song with in equal amount of substance). As a result, Lupe gets angry when he hears about Kendrick and tries to downplay him as a rapper, as Kendrick was able to do the one thing he couldn’t.
Exactly, Lupe could make something along the lines of Sing About Me, but he could never make something like Not Like Us, last time he tried going commercial he gave us Lazers, meanwhile Kendrick is able to remain commercial while still giving us quality bodies of work
@@Sircomic I have the same issue with Ab Soul, he’s more lyrical than Kendrick but he’s not as musically proficient when it comes to composing a song or creating an album. He’s definitely talented but Kendrick is all around the better rapper/artist

Does HE have bars or does HE have someone else's bars? Never a question you could direct at Kendrick. Fails by default. We literally have no idea how much Drake has ever written for himself.
I think Lupe has a level of envy towards Kendrick because he sees the label and mainstream support Kendrick has received while he was allowed to put out conceptual and experimental bodies of work, much like how his career started before things went left with Atlantic post The Cool. Lupe has the same issue with Kendrick that Jay Electric does…. Kendrick represents what they were SUPPOSE to be! Kendrick got over the hill that Lupe never got over. When kdot was coming up, Lupe was singing Kendrick’s praises around GKMC but after Kendrick broke into the main stream, Lupe, Jay elec, and a few other legacy rappers started feeling salty.
Lupe might see dot where he feels he should be. Idk where this low key dislike for Kendrick has come from but I knew he had a problem with him when the “blacker the berry” single dropped and he slick sided said something on twitter. Then cudi responded back to him calling him a hater and them two went back and forth. Idk if there’s something as deep as that with Drake and Kendrick but I do know he has an issue with him. It might be a collab that didn’t happen or maybe it’s jealousy. But I notice this one sided issue since 2015

Lupe is a real Kendrick fan, lol. I’ve seen this dude swing back and forth between love and hate for Kendrick throughout the decade. But people get confused by that because “fan” means “Stan” to today’s audiences. The biggest haters are often our biggest fans.
I can't take Lupe seriously when hates on Kendrick. He knows too much about hip-hop artistry & culture, ain't no way he actually rates Drake higher than Dot... I dunno if he is bitter about not getting the same level of acclaim as Kendrick despite being in similar ish lanes, but if that's the case it's just really sad. He's got a great discography and is highly rated by a ton of people, myself included. He's had a big influence on a lot of rappers, and is still putting out music. That sounds like success to me.. fuck comparing yourself to anyone else, fuck what place you land on "greatest of all time" lists. Focus on making music you love, and that your fans love. Maybe I'm wrong and he just wants to be a contrarian, or maybe he just doesn't like Kendrick. But it just feels off to me.
I am someone who has Lupe Fiasco in my top 5 rappers of all time and have been listening to his music since he debuted. Lupe was at the forefront along with Kanye in the 2000s of making conscious and backpack rap mainstream and bringing an end to the hardcore/gangsta/bling era. I think the content he and Kendrick Lamar produces is important and much needed for maintaining the soul and integrity of the culture of rap and Hip Hop - the mainstream would very much be pleased for the genre to become an empty pop genre devoid of deeper meaning where rappers just flex their rapping abilities. They are very similar in direction. And it would be awesome to hear them both on a song together. But, sadly, at this moment it'll likely never happen because of this weird grudge Lupe has towards Kendrick Lamar - he's been making slick comments about Kdot for a few years.
Bro Lupe seriously perplexes me with these opinions. He doesn’t seem like he would operate off envy but how could he truly make this claim and believe it unless he has some bitterness and ill will towards Kendrick? The only other way I could justify this is that Kendrick hasn’t really been the punchline rapper since he started focusing more on the quality of projects and the interweaved stories he’s creating, so Drake definitely has more quotables and witty punchlines, but is that it? Drake has quotables so he’s better than Kendrick?
You mean his ghostwriters, I'll always keep reminding ppl of the ghostwriters when we're talking about who raps better, oh and Lupe wished he was Kdot for a minute now.😂
@@wedontagelikemilktho.7839 I believe Drake uses ghost writers for hits, not for the actual bar work like the timestamp records and what not. He also claims that most of his biggest hits were all him, so I am inclined to believe it until proven otherwise.
Lupe is an incredible rapper. But he came out at the wrong time. Back then when Kanye was coming off 2 big hit albums, people thought backpack rap was back. But Kanye had a Jay-Z co-sign and an ear for radio hits. Lupe was very conceptual but only hip hop nerds were really into that style. Kendrick hit at the perfect moment of an online hip hop renaissance of diverse styles and a shared platform.
Cuz he didn't get mentioned on the Control verse and felt disrespected so he responded to Kdot but nobody cared or noticed so Kdot jas been living rent free in his head.😂
Kendrick has the career that Lupe wants, but Lupe's career got stunted after his early criticisms of Obama. Not Kendrick has the spot Lupe was aiming for.
For people who are confused as to what Lupe meant when he said kendrick was a better "technical performer", he saying that on kendricks music, he is able to really paint the picture and tell the story much better than Drake does inchis music. Whereas for Drake hes listening for the one liners and double entendres. And let me be clear kendrick has his double and triple entendres as well, so dlnt come for me with that bullshxt cuz its not what i said... Om just trying to give insight on what Lupe was really trying to say. Because it seems everyone is getting all in their feelings because they think hes being salty when hes not. I was in the twitter space when he was talking about this and he somewhat further explained it. Still doesn’t make too much sense, Kendrick lyrically is still far ahead of drake. Drake has had bars in the past for sure, especially on the timestamp records, but Kendrick is still ahead imo
The difference is Drake has NoCap type bars. They hold no weight or relevance. It’s just a cool metaphor to say. Just like Wayne. They don’t make much music with any depth or meaning. It’s just flexing with a different set of words

Lupe hating on Cudi and now Kendrick? Like dude it ain't that deep.
How do you mean now, Lupe has always hated Kdot.
Cudi was actually wrong tho
lupe and the game really messed up siding with drake.
Lupe is mad that Kendrick successfully crossed over as a “conscious” and lyrical guy and will never not hate him for it
Lupe has been hating on Kendrick for a while now. Pretty obvious he wishes he could've accomplished what Kendrick did but couldn't. Kendrick is a reflection of what he could've been and it bothers him deeply.
DEEPLY ‼️
Ppl think punchlines is the only type of bars
You simplified what I written paragraphs trying to explain to the backpack battle rap cult 🙏🏽😂
This is so freaking true man they say the spoken word type rap isn't rap like wtf they just hate on k dot
i fuck with lupe heavily, and this is obviously his opinion, but that man is a dedicated hater of Kendrick for some reason
You know it hate and jealousy when a lyricist is picking a pop star who has ghostwriters over another lyricist
Lupe doesn’t like Kendrick cause he feels Kendrick ripped him off or is given credit for things Lupe has done first. Things like the Kung fu Kenny persona cause Lupe did the Asian outfit aesthetic first and how DAMN did the whole forwards and backwards album thing after Lupe. But I like Kendrick more so I don’t really care

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

@@Bennyforeverandever Not a flex, just honesty

Lupe has unreasonable standards because Kenny is the only one comparable and could be argued to be better discography wise. He pinches an artistic nerve.
Hes not holding Drake and Kenny to the same standard
So why directly compare them as rappers?
@AdolphSaxOfficial he being genuine and disengenous at the same time. As an intelligent hater that's the best you'll get. Each statement he said was true in a sense except that he's not being transparent with the comparisons he's using.
@AdolphSaxOfficial he's simply jealous
If Drake is better than Kendrick and he (Lupe) is better than Drake, then he is comfortably a better and more talented rapper than Kendrick despite all Kendricks accolades and recognition. The conclusion: Lupe is inarguably better than Drake ipso facto Lupe is inarguably better than Kendrick
Or at least I’m assuming that’s how the logical reasoning plays out in his head. A sort of self soothing, self assurance reactionary defense mechanism for feeling unseen and unrecognized by the uncultured masses ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Purely shielding the ego. But alas, we are all human and all at times act irrationally to protect ourselves and sense of self. I understand, but can’t he see how people are baffled and not taking him seriously on that point? 😂
Idc what lupe say, him and kenny two of my favorites of all time and im grateful for them both
I used to be a fan but he lost and is still losing fans cuz he has been jealous of Kdot for years, it's pathetic.
To be fair, it’s incredibly far from the worst thing an artist can do that’s problematic. He’s just confidently wrong.
Exactly. Lupe can't make me stop listening to his music 😂
Lupe is that Crown Prince that his junior bro was Crown King instead Because the Crown Prince didn't live up to expectations
Lupe lived up to REALISTIC expectations... LoL
@@dually81For someone as technically and lyrically gifted as Lupe , he sure fell off and didn't live up to expectations.
@@sir_tt_maths He is exactly what he's supposed to be... technically and lyrically gifted, but he ain't Kendrick and that seems to be what eats him up.
Lupe has continued to release good music, for his niche lane, but the problem is he thinks he's bigger than his lane 😬
@@dually81 Facts, couldn't have said it any better. But I also think Lupe fell for what a lotta conscious rappers fall for. Glorifying lyricism above everything else.
@@dually81
Now, Don't get me wrong though, Hip-hop isn't Hip-hop without technicality, bars and that lyrical shit. But that's not the full picture. Hip-hop/Rap is also storytelling, it is soul , it is groove. If you out here rapping but it don't come from a deep place... then don't be surprised if it sounds too robotic and apathetic for people to consume.
Exactly, Lupe could make something along the lines of Sing About Me, but he could never make something like Not Like Us, last time he tried going commercial he gave us Lazers, meanwhile Kendrick is able to remain commercial while still giving us quality bodies of work
@@mikevilla8230 yup. If Lupe had the ear and hooks that Kendrick does he would be the GOAT, but nonetheless, he doesn’t.
@@Sircomic I have the same issue with Ab Soul, he’s more lyrical than Kendrick but he’s not as musically proficient when it comes to composing a song or creating an album. He’s definitely talented but Kendrick is all around the better rapper/artist
Lupe has made hits with substance, he just got fucked over by the label and got put to the side for about 5 years and was not allowed to release an album
Lupe was in the mainstream when his career started
It hurts when your OG who’s supposed to be a GOD is standing next to King Kunta feeling like toby🤷🏿♂️
Does HE have bars or does HE have someone else's bars? Never a question you could direct at Kendrick. Fails by default. We literally have no idea how much Drake has ever written for himself.
Dumb fuck drake never write his owe shit so stfu you don't know what you talking about
I think Lupe has a level of envy towards Kendrick because he sees the label and mainstream support Kendrick has received while he was allowed to put out conceptual and experimental bodies of work, much like how his career started before things went left with Atlantic post The Cool. However, Lupe also has to realize that Kendrick makes better songs than him, no matter how better he is as a lyricist. Kendrick has struck a balance between all things that are difficult to find in a single artist in hip hop.
Yeah. Lupe may be a better lyricist but kendrick is a better songwriter
@@kbreezy1581 Lupe is not Better Lyricist to me

Out of all the explanations I have read or heard about his subject I think this is the one that makes the most sense to me.He wanted to be called out so he could respond but he wasn’t in the convo & that wasn’t Kendrick’s purpose. He called out all the people who were very active @ that time & Lupe was not.I didn’t know Lupe responded to that song so ur absolutely correct on it falling on deaf ears to the people 💯✌🏾

After what Kendrick just did to Drake, Lupe better shut up 😂. And yes I'm half joking, I know that Lupe is just as good or better than Kendrick. But Kendrick has shown that when it comes to battling he's elite.
Drake was an easy opponent for Kdot, only his fans believed he had a chance and only a club banger would've saved him but Kdot played his game and won.😂

Lupe just really don’t like kendrick. There’s some jealousy there that’s absurd. Lupe just doesn’t get mainstream audiences don’t like his flow
I love Lupe, but Kendrick is literally him evolved 😂
Lupe has the same issue with Kendrick that Jay Electric does…. Kendrick represents what they were SUPPOSE to be! Kendrick got over the hill that Lupe never got over. When kdot was coming up, Lupe was singing Kendrick’s praises around GKMC but after Kendrick broke into the main stream, Lupe, Jay elec, and a few other legacy rappers started feeling salty.
Lupe downplaying Kendrick is wild!
Lupe is such a Kendrick hater😭 the second he heard the question being asked he pre-fired Drake’s name
But I notice this one sided issue since 2015
Jealousy and it started with the control verse.
Most of these people have been moving off emotions. Being emotional clouds objectivity.

I think Lupe got offended he wasn’t acknowledged in the control verses. He started shitting on kdot then ended up apologizing. Then people started this narrative he was scared of kdot, the he got mad. It might also be that Lupe’s jealous never got the commercial success kdot got as a conscious rapper.
It sucks that he’s trying to downplay Kendrick, especially when Lupe himself is a very capable rapper
His hate for Kdot made me stop listening to his crap.😂

Its an anomaly to be that conscious and be that successful...without even dropping frequently...
Kendrick's career is incredible.
Lupe is a real Kendrick fan, lol. I’ve seen this dude swing back and forth between love and hate for Kendrick throughout the decade.
But people get confused by that because “fan” means “Stan” to today’s audiences. The biggest haters are often our biggest fans.
Idk Lupe just gives off an "it should've been me complex"

Ain’t nothing wrong with being a hater tbh. It’s far from the worst thing for an artist to be

These are the coldest funniest facts ever!
This is so disappointing from Lupe man
I can't take Lupe seriously when hates on Kendrick.
As a Lupe and Kendrick fan, this hurts 😢.
Idk, something weird happens if you talk to Verb… it’s like a fucking genjutsu I swear.
This made me sad to hear :( but I still love and respect Lupe for what he's done and is still doing for hip hop/rap
He has been jealous of Kdot since that control verse.😂
Lupe treats Kendrick like how Bret Hart treats Goldberg. . .
i watched it live when Lupe said that and i was like " DRAAAAKE??!" lyricist btw ..
I love Lupe but when he says stuff like this it makes me not wanna listen to him
Lupe’s in my top 5 but I’ll admit he’s been baiting Kendrick for years and idk why 😂
Lupe acts like a scorned lover when it comes to Kendrick.
Lupe was supposed to be who Kendrick is rn that’s why he’s hating
He has a problem cause he was supposed to be what Kendrick Lamar is, but failed to do so.
If anybody should have a take like this, it most definitely should be Lupe. Hes one of the most lyrical geniuses in rap. Me personally im a fan of all 3, and I dont like to "compare" the at all. They are very different, like apples and orange's. You just cant compare the 2. And even Lupe, hes a class all in his own
Lupe’s hate toward Kendrick can only be chalked up to jealousy
Everybody knows Lupe was and still IS jealous of Kendrick Lamar. Despite being a better lyricist, he failed to get the exposure and position Kendrick now has in his career. I just KNOW he's bitter rn after seeing The Pop Out. He's probably vexed Kendrick didnt put him on like he did with Baby Keem😂
It's so sad seeing lupe's fall
How exactly is he falling? Because he don't think kendrick is better than drake? He just made a classic with drogas waves an zion was one of the best rap albums that year.
@@crowing3886Doesn't change the fact that he's been salty since 2013 and can't hide his jealousy.😂

I love Lupe..but he gotta let that hate go for Dot. Yes, Lupe you got the raps on deck. Yes, you were Dot…before Dot. You been my mans since Kick, Push. The culture did not appreciate you. Your album The Cool is a masterpiece. But, baby stop..please.😔
Lupe high key has a problem with Kendrick. Since Control really. He feels like Kendrick is in his lane and not being as complex as him but getting all the shine IMO.
Look, I respect Lupe, I love his music.
That said, Lupe has had a hate boner for Kendrick since, I believe, the GKMC days. I don't take anything he says about Kendrick seriously because he actually just stops thinking when this man comes up.
I'm a huge fan of his, but Lupe's love for Drake and hatred for Kendrick is just about the funniest thing about him.
Awww, Lupe just wanted people to know he's still around.... Bless his irrelevant lil heart!

I really think lupe trolling. My impression of Lupe when it comes to Kendrick is that he probably sees all the praise he gets and thinks to himself that there are rappers out there that do what Kendrick does and does it better.
It's called jealousy and I know where it all started, that control verse really had ngas in their feelings.😂
