That same EG6 was defeated by an 86, a RWD with less horsepower. Its not about FWD, RWD or AWD, its about skill.

The 86 has a taller final drive. It was slower than the eg in the complex corners but always made up for in the straights. I noticed how the eg would start pulling away after every corner until it maxed out 5th gear, then the 86 would start catching up.

RWD or AWD are more suitable for most RACING situationos, if you are a better driver.
The HUGE advantages of FWD are:
- PRICE (they are cheaper to manufacture and maintain).
- SIZE (cars have more space due to less parts required for the drivetrain)
- DRIVABILITY (FWD cars are easier to handle especially in difficult conditions, if you are a new driver).
Typically, most affordable cars, for everyday use, utilize the FWD platform for the reasons above.
So most FWD cars, weren't really made to go fast or be fun. MOST...
But..! Companies like Honda or Renault proved that FWD can also be AS fun, if not more sometimes, as other platforms. (Proof, the Integra Type-R, Civie Type-R, Clio and Megane RS etc etc.)
To conclude, EVERY platform, has advantages, and disadvantages.
To assume that one of those platforms or two of them, is shit and the other is king, is stupid.
Manufacturers decide which platform they use depending on the target audience.
Add to that list, a tuned Golf GTI or Jetta GLI. They come with launch control from the factory @ 3000RPM (Unitronic and APR bump that up to 4000RPM with their software flashes).

FWD is technically a stable config for its weight being above the front axle that is being driven.
When in very capable hands of a very capable driver, it could have a very minimal amount of traction loss which can be comparable to AWD cars.
As you said, the variable on SIZE, i agree a lot with that because we can take that as an example with the Original Mini, am i right?
Its main intention was to make more room for its occupants.
Even BMW is getting a hint of the FWD "technology" with their FWD ranges.

To give credit where its due in performance, they are the lightest drivetrain and have the least drivetrain loss.

I have driven RWD and AWD/4WD cars occasionally. All cars I ever owned were FWD though. Because of price. I've been looking to buy a RWD car recently though. They are more fun for experienced drivers. But this being said: if you think FWD cars suck or are boring by default, you just don't know shit about cars. Some of the most fun to drive cars (Clio RS, Civic, Golf GTI, ...) are FWD. With a good engine and a good driver, I've seen FWD cars humiliate RWD cars at car events.
I have always had RWD cars, just now have my first FWD car... it's ok, but won't be buying another.

how can you compare a buggati which is fully comfartable and a fully stripped integra ?
Integra is said to be shit however when properly tuned he can beat a veyron which is known to be the fastest production car in the world. Even if the veyron is stock, still that's extremely tricky to apply. Not all cars can be handled to hold that power. And I garantee you, if you're in a meeting if you say "but my car is comfortable" people will laugh their asses off. If you want comfort get yourself a chauffeur
1) the bugatti chiron is faster than the veyron
2) the Koenigsegg is faster than the chiron
3) the veyron is one of the fastest car, but not the one wich accelarete the more. on a 200 mph ==> 240 the integra would be fucked
4) the integra still a beautiful preparation and the owner must be very proud
5) meeting is more than "I got the loudest/fastest", if u have an inside/outside sleeper wich is pretty fast, it's ok

FWD make the worst drag racer cars and are the most successful in rallying, which makes your point invalid. Besides, with today's limited slip differentials, the fwd cars are as good as RWD, and better in some things. Look up Peugeot RCZ- r vs Nissan 370Z nismo, and you'll see what I am talking about.
Also, the 370Z has 60 horsepower more than the RCZ.

Comparing two differend cars doesnt make fwd better than anything else. Cornering differences came from weight distribution, rwd or awd will launch quicker if everything else is same because g forces make weight "move" to rear end. And its better to have 2 wheels for steering and 2 for accelerating. If you have even 400hp at front wheels, your car wont be fun to drive because it will pull everywhere...

In the past, engineers found way to greatly greatly reduce that in fwd cars. Even just in 00's.

FWD is a good choice as a beginner's car ,because after you reach college and get your driving licence,a rwd car may not be safe for you as you know nothing about drifting and also awd cars are impossible for speed lovers because while taking a corner ,you must drive it at full speed ,so a FWD maintains it buy making corrections! So an integra or an eclipse should be your first car,not a rwd car like a viper ,a corvette or a supra or an awd car like a skyline,3000gt or an EVO !

Little did I know that was entirely WRONG! After playing Dirt Rally 2.0 I finally knew how cool is it. Now I really respect fwd car in either jdm community or just a normal car. I find them unique and now my first dream car will be Honda Integra Type R which is Fwd!
You should try Assetto Corsa too, there are some mods for it and it will teach you how to control them more accurately if you have a steering wheel.
At first I hated HATED fwd cars. I was no way I'm buy a fwd car.. but I also loved the GTI and it's fwd. i wanted the Golf R so bad but my dad didn't agree with it. I ordered Golf GTI Mk7.5 2019 and when I started driving, I forgot bout something called fwd.. I drove my GTI and fell in love with it. I was a douche car enthusiast and now I'm fair. Thanks to my GTI, I love her ☹️❤️

I drive a suzuki swift as a daily and its not even that bad. Its has good handling, good traction and a really good speed (its all stock except for the tyres) I've been thinking about converting it into a RWD or AWD but it will be costly and more expensive than the price I paid for the car. I'll probably just keep the car modify it a little. Maybe add a turbo, front spliter, better suspension, I'll probably throw in an angle kit too and maybe get rid of the back seat for weight reduction
Mazda cars are underrated. They are fun to drive and practical. Not terribly fast I’ll admit but lots of fun to drive none the less.

Iv got a fwd car iv been building for some time and struggle to get traction to the point I'm thinking of making it all wheel drive. My car is useless around bends too but its my own fault. But awd I'll be able to squeeze even more power from it and it won't be wasted.

Why were like the only cars shown Honda's there ok in all but there were so many cars to talk about the srt-4, a mini Cooper countryman, something simple a Pontiac GTP, some Volvo t60 and t80 the list goes on Honda is not the only car manufacturer I have seeing the same cars over and over get some versatility there are thousands of amazing cars that people just never mention
Each has their pros and cons.
For a track with a lot of straights, you're gonna want RWD to get you better grip every time you step on the gas. You want to get to top speed as fast as possible.
For slower circuits, where getting through turns smoothly is key, FWD may offer a better advantage.
But this is all for nought if the rest of the car is shit. Or the driver. Or the track condition.
See? A car is only as good as everything else. Why bother arguing online?

Ive never rode a civic BUT I have this Mazda 626 GLX 2.0 MX Coupe, These things are AMAZING DOING BURNOUTS AND ACCELERATIONS 0-100 Kmph= 4 seconds
Here's the thing. FWD is fun, all year round. You can't really drive an RWD in the snow without some white knuckles. That said I used to drive a Camaro skiing, but I wouldn't recommend it. Or like, on a rainy day where you still want to have a good time, FWD is awesome. Oh and AWD is hugely overrated. I had an AWD Mercedes with big fat tires and it was terrifying in the rain. FWD all day over that.

The veyron comparison was really stupid because it's like he was trying to make it seem like the veyron was heavy because it's awd. It's so heavy because of the interior and size when you compare it to a partly gutted integra. Comparing 2 different cars not sure why there's probably better examples out there that give a real comparison.

Jonas Ryckelme de Oliveira Bevenuto lol, brake more? AWD have the highest traction, thus it can brake really late but still accelerate earlier.
Basically AWD have the least braking, cause in either front and rear wheel drive braking while turning is not a good idea. People always say "brake in the straights before the corner" because braking while turning in a front wheel drive will give you massive understeer (unless you're using the handbrake) and vice-versa for rear wheel drive.
AWD is the best for braking technique like trail-braking and left-foot braking.
Although I must say, that does not mean AWD is the best in corners. Braking on the other hand is it's advantage.
Most people only have front wheel drive because they simply have to. Snow climates suck sometimes
When pushing to the limits. RWD is more predictable than FWD.
With FWD, there are things like lift off oversteer among other things that must be mastered to get everything out of the car’s performance. RWD, you just use more gas and the car will oversteer for you.
Regular commute, with soccer moms driving, FWD is more predictable.
FWD is what I have, and that's okay, so that's what I'm building up ^-^

It just depends on what you like to do with your car. I love RWD cars mostly because where I live (Canada) I get to drift in winter with my Crown Vic (LSD FTW).
I also have a 07 Focus ZX4 ST which is plenty of fun at the drag strip and on mountain roads, with good tires and suspension driving the grip is amazing and lots of fun.
AWD is great I just dont love it personnally, but it's just because for me as long as a car has a LSD, I dont mind it being 2WD even in the snow

About FWD vs RWD the comparison in a "same conditions race" is actually not valid, cause they are used in different occasions for different reasons, it's debatable if you thinkin about pros, cons and needs u have in hand for what you are doing , but that aside... Just don't try to make WD x WD in a race, cause a race is more affected by many more variables than just Traction Center...
I actually prefer a FWD/AWD than a RWD, even in drifting, I prefer use my AWD(45-55) old Lancer than Using any RWD at first it was a nightmare to figure it out and ACTUALLY understand WHY the car behaviored so weirdly, but after I got the hang of it, it turned better than any other RWD, but that's just personal preference, in Drift itself RWD still kings, and for TT FWD still the best option.

FWD Cars are the opposite of RWD Mid engine cars they're both have the engine and transmission sitting over the wheels, but one has the configuration in the front and the other in the back as one pulls the car (FWD) and the other pushes (MID ENG RWD)
I've had lots of fwd cars and driving in rainy or snowy condition is a bit scary if your going around corners of course normal speed not fast, my red mustang feels safer, and yeah sure a civic can beat a Ferrari but try and start that race from a stop, those fwd cars have no traction so it wouldn't be very good for drag racing. Fwd was intended for economy and mass production, yet there are some pros to have fwd I will not lie.

Amazing comparison of the integra and bugatti. It's what I try explaining to all those slammed truck guys (most are V6's) at my school and they just don't understand. They just reply with their shittiest TROKIANDO CUHH. Once I offer them a friendly 30 roll, they all tend to "pussy out". If I lose, I won't even be mad, becuase my car is a stock 4 door sedan. On the other hand, if they lose, they'll be real mad, because their slammed and "modified" truck just got smoked by a 4-door honda.

Biggest mistake I made was putting my stroker Motor in a gst Eclipse. Quickly pulled the motor sold it and bought a gsx. Best upgrade ever

while i like fwd cars, there's no denying it's the least fun configuration. as in still very fun, but not as much.

Just kidding, in most cases it doesn't matter, if the power to weight ratio is high your car will go pretty fast regardless of which wheels get the power. On a drag strip it does make a difference tho, what happens sometimes is the fwd car will accelerate as hard as it can, while all the weight is shifted to the back, causing the front wheels to spin a little more than you had planned. And sure you can drift with fwd but let's be honest, it's kinda lame unless you're going balls deep down a mountain pass sideways. In that case, mad props keep doing what you're doing just know that it drives completely different from awd or rwd and understeer is very very real
