    I have a rescue one that came as a freebie with an end table I purchased a few months ago. I ended up cutting most of it back; there were like 3 leaves left on the plant & I was seriously wondering if it would survive. It did, thankfully! I now have several sparkly new leaves on what used to be stumpy dry looking stuff. No flowers as yet, though. I have no idea what color they’ll be. To be honest, I wasn’t even quite sure at first if it WAS an anthurium! lol

    Living in the desert and have this as a houseplant. We have very low humidity, so every day when I wake up, and in August one more time in the middle of the day, I spritz each leaf and flower, and then when I’m done I spritz 6 times at the base. Lots of big leaves and blooms.

    I have many more plants but at the moment they are being plant-set at my parents as I am in between homes....🙄 Anyway like I was saying love your videos, not only because they remind me to water sometimes, but also because they help me with my anxiety and act as an escape from the current way life is......

    This was my grandmother's favorite flower. She had them growing all around her house. Only recently I've gotten interested in these flowers. They're not as easy to keep alive as I remembered, but at last they're still alive :)
    There is white varieties of these flowers, there's also one they call "black," but it's a dark dark dark maroon. I saw a gold colored one on the Internet, but it was on the Internet, so I'm not convinced in its existence.
    Anyways.., Graf video :)

    My anthurium I got in March has had two blooms for a long time (starting to lose their color now) but hasnn't made anymore blooms, in fact I think the ones that were starting to come up when I got it died before blooming. It made a couple new leaves recently but they are small. Not enough light is my guess. I have a giant east facing window with a south facing one across the room so I moved the anthurium closer to the window on your advice. Also picked up fertilizer so next time it needs water it will get some of that too. Hoping to turn things around.

    Got one haven’t done anything with it but water have under a lamp on about 8hrs a day! I know it needs repotted. New Leaves keep growing but old ones die back,dry up turn brown. I’ll get some perlite to mix in miracle grow soil with a bit of bark mixed in it then I think u said moss on top.. Probably not putting in in light just filtered light does this seem right. Hopefully this will give it a second chance. Always wanted one of these plants the blooms don’t look real! Hope this does the trick thank you for making these helpful plant videos‼️. 😀. 🌞 🌱🌳🌸🌼🍄 today 3/21/19 I reported it but have a question about fertilizing should I use a slow release or a resolving miracle grow? I usually grow succulents and shamrocks but I rescued one from my dad's house a couple months ago. He'd gotten it for my stepmom around Valentine's day, it had blooms then but hasn't had any since those died off (I guess?). When I got it there was very fine white mold trying to grow on the topsoil. I poured out (fell over in the car while driving lol) the insane amount of water he had in the pot and let it dry out for a few days. I started watering it with an ice cube once every 2-3 days because I didn't want to over water like he had. It sits in a window getting morning sun and then indirect light after about 9am. It's dark green, but it literally has 2 leaves and a new little baby leaf and that's it. After watching this video I figure it needs re-potting but do you have any further advice? I feel like the poor thing has PTSD from water boarding or something lol.

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  6 лет назад

      lol, I know this struggle! Did you buy it like this? Sometimes the flowers change when their conditions change. So overtime with consistent growing conditions, it should then in theory even out. Also can check to see if all of the flowers are rising up from the same plant. Often times there are numerous plants in each pot, so there is potential for there to multiple varieties in one pot if the grower was sloppy.

      that will be different from plant to plant. however it is not uncommon for these to bloom year-round. Usually a slight increase in light and fertilizer will get them blooming again. Just be sure it isn't direct light. :)

      Probably any good indoor fertilizer. Just read the label. Good luck.
