    I have not been able to have my Anthurium flower since I brought it home. Is there a way to induce flowering, such as a certain nutrient, or a change in light conditions? Will re-poting do anything to help?

    Hi, I am concerned that my anthuriums have 3-4 times the flowers than leaves... Is this healthy for the plant?

  • @ruthdennisKnits

    I purchased 2 small ones that were on clearance because they were about to die. They look good now but a week ago their look was not good. They are 2 different varieties. I don't know enough about them to know what the names are and there was no label on the pot. Are they slow growing ❓

    • @BigBoyPlants
      @BigBoyPlants  4 года назад

      Hi Ruth thanks for the comment. Glad to hear they are looking better 🌹 . I would say anthuriums have a slow to moderate growth rate.

      Hi Lindsay, I prefer terracotta or ceramic pots. For small plants I use plastic pots sometimes. Cheers! 🤙🌿

    • @josebejarano2126
      @josebejarano2126 3 года назад

      I'd recomend terra-cotta and plastic becouse those types of pots allows aeration on the roots.

    My plant was doing fine and started drooping. I’ve had it for a while and can’t seem to understand why. Would you be able to shed some light? Also, would bonsai soil be a good replacement for orchid mix to use for repotting?

    • @BigBoyPlants
      @BigBoyPlants  4 года назад

      Hi Lordwige, could you please send us some images to hello(at)bigboyplants.com so we can check it out?
      Re soil: depends on the bonsai soil mix, it should be moist-permeable so that the anthurium roots are not suffocated.

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 2 года назад

      Speaking of light, what kind of light is your anthurium in anyway… orchid mix that is finer in texture is great for them, and other tropical plants. Too large of chunks isn’t enough support…obviously we don’t want MUD lol, but you know.

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 2 года назад

      **Bonsai soil is ideal for almost all plants too by the way, I even add some more perlite or pumice if I need to.

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 2 года назад

      Also make sure it’s not in full sun. Near bright indirect light. I also feed mine a little every time I water. Like, a few drops of liquid fish fertilizer for a gallon of water. That way it’s constantly getting that feeding it needs. In nature they grow on trees, as so many plants do, and think about it… they’re getting animals pooping on their roots, animals DYING on them, plus all the dead leaves and plant debris… and then all the tropical rains. It’s a constant feeding for orchids, aroids, bromeliads, and ferns. Just don’t overdo it.
