It's a feeling that only we Japanese people understand, but the name Ikuyo is a given name that sounds like an old woman and is not suitable for a teenager.

One of the troupes I dislike the most is where the popular kid in school resembles somewhat of a bratty, narcissistic person. I like that Kita despite being popular doesn't ignore someone like Bocchi who people barely interacted with in school, and instead even elevates her above herself, which is even more noticeable in the manga. She doesn't see herself as anything special, just ordinary. I think that humbleness of her is something I like seeing more from the popular kids in fiction.

As a bit of an extrovert myself, Kita is the best portrayal of one I've seen in media outright.
We're not always the stereotype of the overbearing nigh insufferable nuisances that are liked by everyone except the main character.
We can be impulsive and it can result in a lot of mistakes that we still think about years later. At least that is the case with myself
Well I am happy that Kita is the extrovert that portays you and many extroverts the very best. And even before analyzing Kita, I know that you guys share many flaws and relatable traits with other people in the spectrum. I hope more extroverted characters in media are written this well as Kita, many more should understand the true people of the other side of the spectrum.

Even though some friends think it's weird that Kita Ikuyo is my dp in everything and "Isn't she 16 that's weird bro" I've never seen her in that way whatsoever. I always found Kita as someone I could learn from in the way she handles people in life. I believe that a lot of us can have a little something to gain from learning to be just a little more social. Only now have I realized that my reserved nature from before held me back from a lot of fun things in life. Taking pages from the Kita Ikuyo book I took it upon myself to leave my comfort zone, found myself in more social situations, more fun, and more memories I can cherish.
Sure it can feel superficial and on the surface feel fake at first but you'll run into more people that you can relate with because you took that extra step to learn a little more about them when otherwise you would have never known you guys had the same interest in something.
I also love the way you say Kita also has flaws, The stigma of "extrovert = has no problems/has it easy" is something that people just have to unlearn. We all have struggles, extroverts just handle them in a different way.

I've always thought people underrate how complicated Kita is, and oversimplify her. I did myself for a while, then I read "The First Star", and Kita went all the way up to my favorite character, so I paid a lot more attention. I never knew how to put into words why i love Kita's character so much, but this just speaks for me xD
For me, she is one of those characters that, even if on the outside she is just another "normal" person, you realize that there is more to her than that, but she also goes through struggles like everyone else.

One thing I noticed is Kita's expression during episode 8's performance of "That band". To me it looks like she is mixed with multiple emotions such as: shock, amazement, admiration, self doubt and fear. I ain't no literature master that can understand the hearts of characters 100% so what I'm saying here may be a reach but when our Bocchers started shredding she doubted herself because at that time, Bocchi felt like a completely different person possibly similar to Ryo when Kita first laid eyes on her. It blew away all her expectations and made her doubt whether she actually knew anything about Bocchi. By the end and as bocchi looked at nijika all panicking she lets out a sigh of relief and that bocchi is still bocchi.
By the time, episode 12 airs and Kita's solo hits, I felt like she was mimicking the way bocchi moved which just showed how much of an influence bocchi had on kita. Kita went from probably my least favourite character out of the four to the very top by the end of the season.

No no, what you noticed there makes perfect sense. That's a wonderful detail that I overlooked with my analysis. But yes I'm sure Kita didn't expect for Bocchi to do that and was indeed shocked.
And yep, how she grew throughout the episodes has definitely made such an amazing character. And this is just season 1 we are talking about, so I'm sure she develops more when we finally have our season 2.

Out of the many surprises that I got from watching Bocchi the Rock, Kita having the most meaningful character development is definitely up there. This adds depth which I wasn't expecting to a story that was, for the most part, expected. It's really the subtle character writing like this that left an impression on me, among other things. You covered her character quite well, and goes to show why she is also my second favorite out of the bunch.

@@nirika420 No problem. I feel the 4-koma format of the manga really does limit the potential somewhat of the overall character growth (among other things), this is one aspect the anime makes more noticeable in this regard.

Very well said, the analysis is simply the most deep and full one I’ve ever seen about Kita, this video deserve 100x more plays… You’ve demonstrated greater reasons to like Kita, and no matter which character it is, shows how motivational Bocchi the rock is.
The flaws they’ve got, wounds underneath the comedy, they are brave and unique. And the special relationship between Kita and Bocchi is fascinating, they all want social attentions, which made them the same coin. But one can’t get them, one can’t lose them - which made them the two opposite sides. And I think the first episode, the short scene Kita got already implied their relationship, as it was technically irrelevant to develop the plot(and she was the second main character to appear in the anime).
Ryo and Nijika get to reveal their deeper characteristics but only Bocchi and Kita got character development. So it’s pretty reasonable to make a guess, if there is seanson 2, the main focus will be on those two. Personally I think there should be a season 2, the ending of season one has its special feelings expressed, it’s a good ending but doesn’t feel like a full ending.

As an introvert, I appreciate my high emotional-intelligence extroverts. Without them I wouldn't have friends or be the person I am today. They helped my develop social skills, learn how to navigate society and about all the trends/fads, and most of all they helped me learn to trust the goodness in others (as corny as that sounds). A lot of introverts have a bad outlook on extroverts but that's because they don't put in the effort to know them. Kita is a super well-written extrovert and this video is great. Honestly I could and probably will write my own essay of sorts about Kita and how much she means to me, as a comfort character, I suppose, but also as my single favourite character in anything ever.
but to summarize it, Kita as she is in the end of the series is everything I’ve always wanted to be, for myself and for my friends. Like her I’ve run away from so many problems, and like her I’ve kinda relegated myself to the role of a supportive everyman for my friends, but I want to better myself, hone what I can do. I want to be stars in a constellation with the people I care about, if even just for a fleeting moment.
Also I’ve spent a couple hundred dollars putting together my Kita Ita Bag, whoops.
I wish you the very best in writing that essay about Kita and how she means so much to you.
