Bro I won't lie after I turned 18 years old, it felt/feels like time is moving 3 times speed. I won't lie Karakara became, one of those songs that I'll have along with me for life, now that I heard it, I love it. I really want to hear Ryo singing, so I hope when an album comes out we can get a song with her singing.
Absolutely get what you mean man, I feel you so much, time just seems to vanish off somewhere these past years. Also I think Ryo actually sings Karakara
@@redjoker it seems it really is Ryo sings Karakara. i think the anime will make 4 Ed with each girl gets to be the singer. Distortion by Kita, Karakara by Ryo, and the new Ed Nani ga warui by nijika. if it's correct let's see what bocchi ed feels like
The lyrics in this song are just so poetic from a literal Japanese translation as well. My favourite lines are definitely "buchimakeyou ka, hoshi ni" Buchimakeru means to destroy yourself and crash and burn til you lose. Then "hoshi ni" meaning towards the stars reminds me of the phrase. Shoot for the moon, even if U miss U land in the stars. So together it's like she is destroying herself to intentionally miss and land in the stars. And the kiite, kikeyo "please listen, Listen!!" Is absolutely amazing. I'd translate it to "please listen... Hey! Listen!". I love the break in between the two words it's like bocchi has had enough and U can feel the anger behind kikeyo. No only that but the tone shift from crying during please listen to an angry Hey! Listen! Really sells the whole song.
Now, I get why Kita was so worried she had to go through the lyrics over and over to lear it and she understands bocchi 's pain way more than any person and wants bocchi to rely on her
Well, ive seen theories that Kita herself is lonely or introvert, like Bocchi, but she forces her self to be an extrovert. I mean, there were times when she failed to do something (like then she learned that she was using 6 string bass, not a lead guitar and melts down like Bocchi would)
You could have also added the literal parallels at the concert. Kita sings "It's not enough" while the audience looks as disinterested. "singing like the fool I am" while they are all off-rhythm. The music is so interesting in this show because it works on so many levels simultaneously.
I've been struggling with depression for several years and damn this song hits hard. In the past I was much more comfortable expressing myself, I had ways to do so and actually took pride on being a somewhat creative person, but depression has been slowly eating all that away. Nowadays I mostly keep to myself much like Bocchi, even though I have this desperate need to get back to the surface and tell the world that I'm still here. Thanks for making such an extensive and deep take in these lyrics, the way you explained those kanji/meaning changes on the word 'listen' made me love this song and the way it's written even more!
I'm sorry to hear about your depression. I'm happy to hear that the song's meaning helped you love the song even more. Stay strong! I believe you can overcome it like Bocchi one day!
fun fact since you said that you don't play an instrument: Elixir is a very popular brand of guitar strings, so the idea of replacing them being "super novel at first, mundane after you know what's up" is on point
Glad I'm not the only one who's insane enough to analyse the song lyrics lmao. Love the interpretations on yours tho, you translated some of this yourself, AND LOOKED AT THE WHOLE 3 MIN SONG? Goated. The ideas about "breathing" and how that relates to her depressing closet and how she can only hear herself in the closet were some cracked details I completely missed. Keep at it!
I got a little too addicted to looping the song so I figured I'd actually do something with it haha. Glad you enjoyed the video! I'm happy to see someone else this interested in the actual lyrics bocchi wrote.
I love that your analysis shows that Bocchi isn't just playing to get famous and escape "the cage" social anxiety traps her, instead she actually enjoys the music wholeheartedly and is running toward a dream/goal.
This hits me quite personally, as I decided I will pursue an animation career as I would love to express myself in this medium, something I struggle with when using words. I may be running from something, but I also love the thing I'm heading towards.
For the part where bocchi says “don’t shine so bright, It’ll make my ugly shadow even more pronounced” maybe this isn’t what the writer meant, but for me this part talks about how when you see someone succeed so much, to shine so bright, it makes you compare yourself to them, making your own lack of worth apparent.
this song was the first one i learned how to sing in the kessoku band album (second being if i was a constellation, gotta be on the bokita grind) and its probably my favourite song other than ano band, its so relatable
I really like the idea of the translation thing as a series, especially after dying over waiting for LycoReco things to be translated. S Tier idea IMO.
Glad you enjoyed! Not sure if it'll be a full on consistent series but if some anime I like makes some song that I really like the lyrics to, I'll definitely do it again!
Even though you explained it with comedy, I still cried knowing the meaning of the lyrics. I can't listen to this song like before, now I cry when I listen to the song.
Your videos are so fun to watch . The way you present topics is so good and done with care. I love how wacky your jokes are ,I enjoy watching you when you upload a video. Thank you for making these videos, RedJoker
this 1st chorus hits much harder when it syncs to the part where bocchi was killing it on stage. It got me in tears when she looked so determined when the lyrics said "not enough not enough", like bruh i felt that so hard.
"Technically, Kita Sings" Ryo: "would it be funny to have a normie sing lyrics like this?" The music for this show is so fucking amazing. It really feels like Bocchi writes the lyrics and Ryo writes the music, because it sounds like it's written by a music nerd. Which Ryo is.
It's funny After Bocchi writes these and Kita sings this.. Kita suddenly has a different approach to Bocchi suddenly she starts to understand Bocchi better than the others knowing where to look for her to find her .. Remember Kita Sings which means she has to MEMORIZE this song's lyrics... She knows and is trying to help Bocchi now.
Bocchi is literally me 100% I felt so exposed but at the same time relatable. When this song came up and I was seeing the lyrics, I cried.. It really hits so hard and some of the things we wanted to say out but we just couldn't..
More so than hiding in her closet, you ever notice all the typical jokes about your heart beating so loudly other people can hear it? When you have social anxiety this isn't an exaggeration. You hear your own heart beat, your own breathing so loudly that you worry that other people can hear it. In more extreme situations it very literally drowns out everything else. You can't hear someone talking to you standing right in front of you.
The analysis and translation was amazing! Knowing the meaning behind the lyrics made the song so much better in my ears, and it made it so much relatable.
5:10 My thoughts exactly. Who wouldn't wanna hug this adorable anime girl that can shapeshift? Even with her shapeshifting abilities, I'd still hug her and take care of her.
聞くvs 聴け is definitely intentional. 聴く is used specifically for stuff you have to both listen to and pay attention to in the way that you pay attention to music or something like a podcast. The difference in kanji lets the lyric reader know the emphasis on nuance.
I've been struggling with social anxiety since the first year of middle school, all the way through the present days, keeping my everything, especially emotions, for myself and like many others, I totally relate to this anime. The struggle to just say a thing, the overthinking that brings you to the "he/she is gonna hate me, I am a disappointment" kind of thought. Hell I'm even overthinking while writing this comment. After finding your video between all the memes from this anime, I can confirm that I complitely fell in love for it. I already like those kind of anime or tv series that are related to emotions and bond between people, but this is the first time I find something that talks about social anxiety and introversion so well. An analysis done very well that made me comprehend the deep meanings of this song, right when I was gonna look out for the lyrics. Now I will listen to Guitar Loneliness and Blue Planet with different ears, and most importantly, activly listening to it, always thinking of its meaning. Loved your work. P.S. I hope I didn't write something wrong
Hmm idk why but I get the feeling this guy really likes the song Hana no Tou by Sayuri, used as the ending theme of the acclaimed 2022 anime series Lycoris Recoil! Jokes aside, great video. If I'd watched it without seeing your sub count, I probably would've thought it was from a major anituber since the editing is really high quality and there was clearly a lot of effort put into the video. (Although I don't know any major anitubers who do lyrics analysis videos, which is a shame because there's so many anime songs with amazing lyrics...) And it's just nice to see any videos about Bocchi since it feels this show flew under the radar of a lot of people. Here's hoping for a season 2 at some point! (I did my part by buying the album CD.)
This guy is definitely a little too obsessed with Lycoris Recoil. But really, thanks man. Seeing this comment made me really happy. I'll keep doing my best!
I can’t relate to bocchi as the next person, but if there’s one thing I really resonate with it’s that every day feels the same. Sure, different stuff is always happening in my life but at the end of it, it’s just like every other day.
Aaand then there is the final song that they play in the school festival, Rock'n roll, Morning light falls on you (also last song in the Kessoku Band album) that is a cover from Asian Kung-fu Generation, which might also hit like a truck to those who know the lyrics.
I'm not even half way done with this video and I'm getting emotional all over again damnit. This show had no business being so damn relatable. So damn good. ugh. I'm not even what you would traditionally call "socially inept". I have a bit of social anxiety but not to this level; I'm able to talk to people with minimal struggle. But deep down for me this hits hard on the acceptance aspect. "Why should I put effort into something I feel will amount to nothing in the end?" and the whole "actions you know wont do anything but you do anyway in a state of hopelessness". This all said, I barely understand Japanese and I still listen to this and every other song on Spotify now.
I get what you mean. I think most of us saying it's relatable are not at the extreme end of social anxiety like Bocchi, but the way they convey the small habits and feelings is amazing
Good analysis! However, there is one thing I'd like to point out. At 7:04 I'm pretty sure she doesn't mean the internet with "the stars". There are multiple reasons of why I think so: The first one is that in all of the songs of Kessoku Band, the lyrics make references to stars and it is always a metaphor for either the band, music, or the band house which is literally called "Starry" in this show. For example in "If I could be a constellation", it is fairly clear that the Kessoku Band is meant by "constellation" if you look at the lyrics. Another reason why I think this way is because of the Japanese lyrics. In the Japanese lyrics, it is written ぶちまけちゃおうか, with this "---ちゃおうか" suffix. This is really hard to explain in English, but it is this suffix to kind of say "Let's do ---" or "I will ---" so it is not something she has been doing for a long time (like uploading her videos) but rather something she is doing right now, or beginning to do. It's a word that has a sense of frustration, but also a lot of impulsiveness and passion behind it. That's why it makes sense that it is used twice; once in the first refrain and the second time at the very end of the song, with the first time it being frustration and the second time passion.
legends says, any video about bocchi za rocc that has a build up to the end of the video with a heartfelt message with Guitar, loneliness, and blue planet at the end is the most legendary video ever. I feel like this video is like a slice-of-life episode of an anime but youtube
I love this show, its so relatable. This video helped me understand the song and not just be a bop. I love it even more. I used to be similar to Bocchi(not as bad, but) i used to always procrastinate and not be able to talk to my classmates. A simple" hi " directed towards me and i was in shocked. I didnt know what to say, my mind suddenly went static until i stuttered into a Uhh..hi. ive gotten better, still bad at convos but aye improvement
Okay I love chainsaw man so much. . . But this is my anime of the year! Its probably my favorite anime right now. I relate to bocchi so much it's scary. Being so scared to reach out and contact the world in front of me, so I reach out to a world beyond the stars. This place that I can hide my face and fears behind a persona played on a stage. The only difference is that Bocchi can and has reached out and made friends. I have yet to do this. Bocchi is inspirational to me. This anime is the most relatable I've seen in my journey of watching anime so far.
It's mentioned that it shows that the lyrics were written by Hitori. I, for some reason despite never being prompted, feel the need to add the fact that it's acknowledged in the show with something along the lines of: They are a downer. But they're very Bocchi. Just felt like leaving that there. I'll be going now.
As a Japanese learner, musician and introvert, I can assure your these lyrics are not coincidental, they are engineered in the best possible way. This song reminds me, very sadly and fondly of Chester Bennington.
I just discovered your channel, and I can't believe your videos haven't gotten millions of views yet. You clearly put soo much work, thought, and love into your scripts and videos (and your style kinda reminds me of Gigguk lol). Trust me when I say your channel will definitely explode and become successful, keep up the great work 👍
I haven’t watched this anime yet but this song was pretty much the reason why I discovered it, strangely enough. This song got me thinking back n shit man.
woah this video is really entertaining while informative, I never looked into the lyrics and just thought it was a catchy song for the anime, and god damn was I wrong
Nothing in this series is left to chance, in an interview I don't remember if a cloverworks executive or the director said that the animators stressed everyone in the company to make this anime, because they love the story. It is a project made with passion and a desire to experiment
Gonna try to play this at school talent show, hope it goes well and people can relate to the song too. Also replacing an elixer at 7:27 is referring to the guitar string brand Elixer.
I think you can interpret the "listen" 4d chess genius in terms of the story, though I don't speak Japanese so this might be completely wrong and doesn't make sense. At first, Bocchi tried to share her music to other people by bringing her guitar to school, hoping for someone to naturally notice her. Later on, she plays on a stage in front of everyone in school, basically asking everyone to actively listen to her.
Honestly, the lyrics to this song was the deciding factor on Bocchi the Rock! becoming my favorite anime and Bocchi becoming my favorite character in any piece of fiction. The was this song is written is incredible, how Bocchi was unable to express these feelings in the show but is able to express them through her music. This song is a good expression of how I look at myself and how I feel about my life. The desires, the insecurities and the feelings, it's all too familiar
"I've heard many different sounds." is an incorrect translation. The subject of this sentence is "earth", not "I (Bocchi)". This means that the earth has been listening to a lot of sound for 4.6 billion years since its birth. I think the appropriate interpretation is, “Since the earth has lived for a long time, wouldn’t it be okay to listen to the sounds I make once in a while?” I've seen many English translations of Bocchi the Rock's songs, and many of them have the subject incorrect. Many people mistakenly think that "I" or "you" is the subject when they see a sentence in which the subject is omitted. Inorganic objects and concepts are often the subject matter. I'm sorry, my English is not good.
This was really interesting to watch and made me appreaciate the song even more.. ^^ But what made this Video even better.. LYCORIS RECOIL I need season 2 for both Need more of relatable as fuck bocchi and best girl chisato!!
Ah. No wonder I like this song so much. *IT'S LITERALLY ME FR FOR FUCKING REAL* Guitar, Loneliness and Blue Planet 🤝 Karakara Resonating with my pathethic ass soul
Ay don't apologize, unleashed is my childhood, I love that game so much. I used to watch a bunch of unleashed speedruns so it's super cool to know that you speedrun the game! And yes cool edge OST goes so hard
I think the 300mm radius may actually refer to the fretboard radius? Les Puals have a 12 inch (304mm) fingerboard radius. Some guitars have a 9.5 inch, and there's a few with a 16 inch radius. it affects playability. 9.5 is easier for chords, because it's rounder. Bigger radius is easier for fast fingering, due to it being flatter.
I'm a bit late, but I think the 300mm radius body is referring to the amp. sort of like she knows she cant really speak out with her own mouth, so she uses a substitute one instead. the amplifier for her guitar. the thing the sounds actually come out of is how she best communicates
Dang. When I thought Bocchi couldn’t get more relatable, it literally exposes me.
This entire show is just exposing all of our inner feelings. Too relatable
Literally me, fr fr.
Bocchi... Is literally me
Like fr bruh.

The lyrics in this song are just so poetic from a literal Japanese translation as well. My favourite lines are definitely "buchimakeyou ka, hoshi ni"

Oooooh nice catch. That definitely makes sense
for the kiite, kikeyo, I might go with something like 'please hear me... Just listen!'
Now, I get why Kita was so worried she had to go through the lyrics over and over to lear it and she understands bocchi 's pain way more than any person and wants bocchi to rely on her

I just want to give Hitori a friendly hug so much, but I'm happy watching her break her shell from the safety of my reality
Omg I understand the wanting to give her a friendly hug part so much, especially when she goes full anxiety mode
She will probably turn into Ash again

Good analysis of the lyrics! :) my friend teared up
8:17 The Gibson Les Paul custom Black that she plays, has a 12 inch radius neck, 304.8mm
That makes sense
Good analysis! However, there is one thing I'd like to point out. At 7:04 I'm pretty sure she doesn't mean the internet with "the stars". There are multiple reasons of why I think so:
The first one is that in all of the songs of Kessoku Band, the lyrics make references to stars and it is always a metaphor for either the band, music, or the band house which is literally called "Starry" in this show.
That's why it makes sense that it is used twice; once in the first refrain and the second time at the very end of the song, with the first time it being frustration and the second time passion.
bro i love ur editing and voice, very interesting video
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed!
legends says, any video about bocchi za rocc that has a build up to the end of the video with a heartfelt message with Guitar, loneliness, and blue planet at the end is the most legendary video ever.
I get what you mean, especially when talking to strangers, it's hard. Glad the vid helped you love the song more. I love this song so much
What a great video! This song is beautiful and even if I had another interpretation of the lyrics I loved seening your point of view!
What interest me is that the artist who wrote the lyrics is ZAQ, the artist for both Classroom of the Elite OPs which are also very good songs.
Indeed, Bocchi is so good! Best of luck to you too, I believe you can do it like Bocchi!
It's mentioned that it shows that the lyrics were written by Hitori. I, for some reason despite never being prompted, feel the need to add the fact that it's acknowledged in the show with something along the lines of:
They are a downer. But they're very Bocchi.
Just felt like leaving that there. I'll be going now.
Oh yeah, definitely remember that line in the anime
@@redjoker may not connect with everyone.
but for the ones it connects, it'll hit deeply.
Oh. She just like me fr
Absolutely
Your transition and explanation was so great〜
It's much deeper than I expected ❤️
Also thanks for the kanji lesson 🙃
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
As a Japanese learner, musician and introvert, I can assure your these lyrics are not coincidental, they are engineered in the best possible way. This song reminds me, very sadly and fondly of Chester Bennington.
Love your taste in (yuri/light yuri) anime and this was a really nice video!
I just discovered your channel, and I can't believe your videos haven't gotten millions of views yet. You clearly put soo much work, thought, and love into your scripts and videos (and your style kinda reminds me of Gigguk lol). Trust me when I say your channel will definitely explode and become successful, keep up the great work 👍
Thank you so much. Comments like this mean so much to me, they always make my day. I'll keep doing my best!
This song hit me so hard
Im really bad at singing but this song inspired me to start writing
NIce! Good luck on your journey man!
really nice video, thank you
13:35 i hear that kirby Lively Street in the BG, nice choice lol 👌
Great video was looking for some analysis on the lyrics.
Thanks!
I haven’t watched this anime yet but this song was pretty much the reason why I discovered it, strangely enough. This song got me thinking back n shit man.
Definitely recommend it if you haven't already started it. It's amazing.
bro I didn't know the lyrics hit this hard I was jamming to the song like no tomorrow
woah this video is really entertaining while informative, I never looked into the lyrics and just thought it was a catchy song for the anime, and god damn was I wrong
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
such a good video well done
Thanks!
Nothing in this series is left to chance, in an interview I don't remember if a cloverworks executive or the director said that the animators stressed everyone in the company to make this anime, because they love the story. It is a project made with passion and a desire to experiment
I need more Bocchi content, also this is a great video 🥲
Thanks!
My favorite song and band of all time is now from an Anime, is this why I have no friends?
good choices for the bgm of this video 👍
Gonna try to play this at school talent show, hope it goes well and people can relate to the song too. Also replacing an elixer at 7:27 is referring to the guitar string brand Elixer.
0:31 BALLER.
bro that videos are so good
I think you can interpret the "listen" 4d chess genius in terms of the story, though I don't speak Japanese so this might be completely wrong and doesn't make sense.
At first, Bocchi tried to share her music to other people by bringing her guitar to school, hoping for someone to naturally notice her. Later on, she plays on a stage in front of everyone in school, basically asking everyone to actively listen to her.
Honestly that makes sense, it's a more active way to tell people to listen
bocchi's situation has gotten alot more common with quarantine, but hers was because herself which fkn double whammy
Honestly, absolutely agreed. This episode was what 100% sold me that Bocchi was going to be an incredible anime
Not only is the song catchy, but it has such a deep meaning that just connects with people
Great analysis of the lyrics makes me appreciate the song even more. Will you consider diving into the song That Band?
Thanks! I don't really want to do it yet since the song seems to be about Ryo and we don't know enough about her yet. Maybe in the future though!
"I've heard many different sounds." is an incorrect translation. The subject of this sentence is "earth", not "I (Bocchi)".
This means that the earth has been listening to a lot of sound for 4.6 billion years since its birth. I think the appropriate interpretation is, “Since the earth has lived for a long time, wouldn’t it be okay to listen to the sounds I make once in a while?”
I've seen many English translations of Bocchi the Rock's songs, and many of them have the subject incorrect. Many people mistakenly think that "I" or "you" is the subject when they see a sentence in which the subject is omitted. Inorganic objects and concepts are often the subject matter.
I'm sorry, my English is not good.
wait guitar isn't a mental therapy to cure my all of my anxiety, stress, loneliness and fear to future?
This was really interesting to watch and made me appreaciate the song even more.. ^^
But what made this Video even better..
LYCORIS RECOIL
I need season 2 for both
Need more of relatable as fuck bocchi and best girl chisato!!
I like how there is still Lycoris Recoil fanboying in a Bocchi video lmao. This man is just like me fr.
Ah. No wonder I like this song so much.
*IT'S LITERALLY ME FR FOR FUCKING REAL*
Guitar, Loneliness and Blue Planet
🤝 Karakara
Resonating with my pathethic ass soul
Bocchi is just us fr
bocchi the rock is actually so insanely GOATED
The radius of a Les Paul fretboard ( bocchi’s guitar before she got her strat) is about 300mm so you were on the money
Great video, also the Mario and Xenoblade 2 tracks feels good in the editing
Thanks, they're some of my favourite games.
Nice analisys!!
Thanks!
i loveee this so muchhhhhhhhhh
Don't worry bocchi, we noticed youuuuuu TvT
WE LOVE YOU BOCCHI
A useless thing I noticed in this anime is how young Hitori’s dad is.
Literally zero budget for that guy
Standard Gibson guitars, such as Bocchi's Les Paul, have a radius of 12 inches, which is just over 300mm
when i herad the song for the first time it hit me on another level despite not knowing the language.
"Grabbing the air, puncing the sky, earthquake seems to happen, I am White beard."
cool edge ost goes hard
sorry for this whenever i hear the unleashed ost i got to call it out since i speedrun the game and hear it 24/7
Ay don't apologize, unleashed is my childhood, I love that game so much. I used to watch a bunch of unleashed speedruns so it's super cool to know that you speedrun the game!
And yes cool edge OST goes so hard
Bocchi tge rock was the only show, in which i saw a protagonist, i really can relate to
While I don’t suffer from social anxiety, there’s still a lotta shit here that hits deep lmao 😭😭😭😭
cant believe this song is related to "sky racism"
The 300mm radius represents her black les paul guitar. This gibson has 12inch radius 300mm are 11,8 inch...
Me feeling emotional and you start making jokes in the middle always made me dead 💀 😂
