Seems like some countries are convinced schizophrenia is a result of Traumatic Stress… I feel like my military experience clearly showed me all I needed was help reducing my stress,,, while Veterans Affairs Canada never told me or anyone else I had been diagnosed with schizophrenia,,, while I did not know I had been diagnosed with schizophrenia all I knew is I needed help reducing my stress , not just stress as I also have a lot of PTSD associated with various and numerous mental health injuries.

I’m going to be honest, I’m completely lost in these bipolar and PMDD cycles. It seems my doctors have run into a wall at this point, after decades of dealing with this. And I am tired of dealing with it, as I deal mostly alone. I’ve had to make my world so small because of it. I have a lot of years of managing this under my belt but it never gets easier, it seems. Edit: I want to thank everyone for your kind comments, support, and advice. I don't plan on giving up this fight, but more often lately I have been tired and have had to sit down for awhile, and that scares me... I'm scared, ya'll, to be frank (which I always try to be when sharing my experience with mental illness). I don't always make the right choices for myself and lose steam easily these days. But I want to keep looking for healing. My career was primarily helping people- I'd like to go back to that but have not been well enough for a few years. It helps to see such kindness and encouragement. Thank you.

I've been following you and was going to try it too to help with stabilizing my energy. But as I do, I am realizing I need a bit more support before I do it myself. So for now, I am going to just be aware of how many carbs I am actually eating and gradually reduce over time.
It looks like there's a lot of potential in this and that your results are off to a great start. I do hope it works, but even if it didn't, I am still so happy you are willing to share your experience so we can all learn from it. Imagine if we were all able to do this with each other how much more we would all actually benefit. I think this is the missing thing that we need in the world right now. Not to come down on current systems but to add in some supportive ones so that everyone can learn from each other, grow and change in more positive ways.

I've discovered in my journey that there are a thousand paths to healing and everyone has many options to explore. It is very nice to be able to share what works and what doesn't.
I recently transitioned out of the conventional system and started my own educational company and support people as they navigate the current mental health system and implement metabolic therapies including the ketogenic diet.

It's wonderful to hear about your positive changes for the new year! Your dedication to improving your nutrition, sleep, exercise routine, and mental health is commendable. Incorporating more fiber, fruits, and protein into your diet, along with regular workouts and better sleep hygiene, can significantly impact your physical health. Additionally, abstaining from tobacco and recreational drugs, avoiding procrastination, and stepping out of your comfort zone are great steps towards overall wellness.
Your approach to trying new things and understanding the benefits of challenging yourself is inspiring. It's true that initial difficulties often lead to significant rewards, both in terms of personal growth and skills acquisition. Your mindset towards learning and making these changes automatic is key to long-term success.
Remember, every small step you take towards your goals contributes to a larger journey of improvement. Keep focusing on your mental and physical health, as well as staying open to innovation and learning. These changes will not only benefit you this year but also pave the way for a healthier, more fulfilling future.
If you have any specific questions to ask, do so, I've done the same, differently but i feel a lot better now, my psychosis and other agitations are under control and better management given newer tools i've got from my last meeting with a psychiatrist before she changed clinics and now we're redirected to a new one, VR360, and Lavender essential oils calm my mind down when i'm over-worked, or have inability to stay still and be always active!

I'm a PhD scientist, and over a thousand hours of research is behind the following suggestions (I was a nationally recognized/funded scholar when younger as well). I encourage any and all to look into these tips carefully if you have yet to come across them.
Sleeping grounded (and grounding footwear or barefoot on wet ground) helps with sleep quality, normalizes cortisol levels, reduces inflammation, and much more. Also, extreme low light (red LED or incandescent on dimmers) two hours before bed, plus phone/computer set to max dimness and red shifted really matter. Melatonin is hugely impacted by most light, and it is a serious mitochondrial master hormone, along with a main sleep cycle cue/aide. MCT oil in mornings, and berberine with the day's latest meal (and in the a.m. fasting window) are excellent for ketones and insulin sensitivity (insulin resistance is implicated in schizophrenia). A small eating window, such as 6 to 8 hours or less, is also key. Small batch fermented veggies can help restore microbiomes, but watch for histamine intolerance (also thought to play a role in symptom management). Kidney pills (or kidney itself, taken sparingly) and sprouted lentils (in moderation) have DAO. This helps deal with histamines. Rinse cuts of meat in running water for ~20 seconds before cooking to get histamines off. Watch out for cow dairy (raw sheep and goat milk/cheese are potentially okay, certainly better than cow). Pasteurized and especially homogenized dairy creates nasty toxins and reduces nutrient availability.
Consider supplementing with betaine and glycine, they have been helpful in schizophrenia (though glycine levels were likely higher than necessary in the Israeli study, as they were not doing keto). All organic food due to glyphosate in almost everything now. Use activated carbon, food grade diatomaceous earth, and/or calcium bentonite clay someplace inside the fasting window, to help remove heavy metals and mycotoxins. Consider testing for mycotoxins and installing air to air exchangers along with using HEPA air filters.
Heat and cold exposure (done safely/wisely) help promote heat shock protein activation, another excellent tool. CO2 tolerance test is easy and free, read up on it and how to increase your own via simple breathing exercises. Good CO2 tolerance is anti inflammatory and promotes calm. Ditch any antiseptic mouth wash as it very badly impacts nitric oxide levels, which lead to endothelial disfunction and much more (ditto fluoride). Use xylitol gum after brushing. Resistant starch is low net carb and some may benefit colon and butyrate production. Vitamin D from sun needs two days of no soap washing for skin to absorb it.
Hope this helps others as well.

I put my bipolar disorder into remission using metabolic therapies and the ketogenic diet. It was a 13 year battle that is no longer weighing me down.

Are there any specific dietary guidelines for following the diet? Just curious.

      @akikohayami2096 4 месяца назад

@@dagrun3821 Well it's a depressant in itself, secondly affects the nervous system, Gaba receptors and slows and impairs brain function, thirdly it can potentiate current medications your taking to a dangerous level and cause severe side effects that you may not even notice are happening, and can lead to psychosis or manic behavior. Then you add the negative effects alcohol has in general and top it of with an existing mental illness it's a recipe for disaster. For an easy reference look at depression and alcohols link to suicide or violence.

One thing I have noticed about you specifically is this.
    Your very mindset driven.
Where do you see the “you” residing ?
If you’re answer is- In my body, of course. You are not looking at yourself in the right way.
You.. always seem to go on these crusades to find answers.
Self improvement is fine. Escaping from the self is not.
Realise… this, You.. are not your body. You are much more than this. You exist way beyond the boundaries of a body or mind. Part of you ( life force ) is in the trees, your family, your friends, your enemies, the birds and even the clouds.
When you truly see yourself as part of God as well as pure energy, your striving for perfection will seem stupid as you already are what you’re trying to achieve. All you need is within yourself. Just relax your body and mind. It’s not about always having to be doing things and being sweaty and switching on to something else. Find time to connect with nature. Listen to nature. Peace will come.

I also feel that food plays a role in my mh. However, I feel it is more to do with FODMAPs and gut bacteria. Many carbs contain FODMAPs. Notably, I always feel much better when I starve or cut out carbs. While starving, the voices will calm right down. Everything slows down and I notice more of the world around me such as the noises and the animals. I will be working out while fasting, usually by walking and riding my bike.

I’m currently 15 weeks and I have GAD when I’m not pregnant but full on panic disorder when I am pregnant. I’m talking around the clock panic attacks. My first 2 pregnancies my OB put me on very strong meds, but this pregnancy I was determined to not take them. But I’m second guessing myself now, because the symptoms are so bad.
