LOVE nurse Sara. She got me through agonizing years of nursing school. It took me a record breaking 13 years to get an associate degree as a nurse working and raising my kids. I didn’t know what I would become. Never thought I would need this video that is now 4yrs old. She literally made this as I was still struggling through my last years of school. I passed NCLEX in one shot. I am now going to maybe get a chance to be a school nurse (dream job) I love kids and pediatrics was one of my worse courses. God has a purpose for all of us , if this is mine I’m going to cry 😢never thought I would b blessed with such a wonderful opportunity. Pray for me guys tomorrow is my big day. School nurse job interview here I come. ❤

I went to an interview that actually was quite a negative one. I took it as an opportunity to grow and learn from my mistakes.
Some interview questions they have asked me are...
    1. What are some safety interventions?
    2. Tell me about the last patient you cared for during your clinical hours in school.
    3. What are the different stages of pressure ulcers and how would you prevent them?
    4. Tell me about the nursing process.

You really hit it on the nose with these questions! I recently went for a nursing position at a prison. In my interview they literally asked all these same exact questions. Unfortunately, I did not know this video was out there so I didn’t know how to answer the questions. I winged it and I will still offer the job.

Sarah, you are great teaching nurse, although I am not a nurse, I enjoy learning about the health field, and have recommended your RUclips channel to several nurses that I have come in contact with, whether at doctor visits or students going into nursing profession. Keep up the excellent videos.

As a freshly baked nurse who is still looking for a job, I can say very little about this topic. My country is probably functioning a bit strangely. So far, I’ve only been to two job interviews. I live in a small town where politics mostly plays a crucial role in finding a job (whoever didn't have a strong connection and got a job, I consider him born under a lucky star).
So I applied, I can't count on how many places outside my town (mostly those were bigger cities where they were looking for more nurses). And I was only invited to two places. Children's University Clinic and Clinical Center. Now, you know very well how you send your CV, which also contains your data, where you are from and how much work experience you have. Let's face it, we have a high school for nurses that lasts four years. After that, we have a mandatory six months of volunteering (an internship, which should be paid but almost never is) and then we take a state exam to get a certificate that we are a nurse (for which we pay around 100 euros). I don't know how it works in other parts of the world, but I wanted to explain how it is in Serbia.
And now, let’s throw in my complaints about job interviews. Which is very short.
So far, I've always been asked a few short questions. My conversations were never longer than ten minutes.
    1) To introduce myself and say where I finished school. And here the nurses who conducted the interview would always open their eyes wide when they heard that I was from another municipality. They would ask me why I was not looking for a job in my town and that would be the moment when I knew I certainly wouldn’t get that job. That first question mostly caught the first two minutes of my awkward shy sitting in front of them.
    2) Another question would always be how much work experience I have, and they would stop looking at me with interest as soon as I say I only have six months of volunteering. I'll be honest, volunteers are sometimes uninterested in the work they do, because let's be realistic, they don't even pay us for it. But I did my best to learn everything I could and always gave 110 percent of myself (yes, to exaggerate with those + 10% but it's true, I can be modest but now I'm not because I worked really hard). Then the interviewing nurses would tell me in the kindest way possible how they needed someone with "more work experience". The worst thing you can do to yourself is to let your social anxiety swallow you, to think about how you are not good enough to be a nurse just because you are poor in experience, to judge your desire to keep trying. And I, probably with my body language, often show how insecure I am. But let's be honest, no matter how much they claim that nurses should radiate self-confidence, I think that self-criticism is an important trait in order for us to learn to make the right decisions.
    3) And to jump to the third question. They would always ask me why I didn't enroll in a college or university with such high grades. Then I would blush completely like a tomato and start stuttering incoherently about my bad financial situation, about how I wanted to be independent first. Because you know, a twenty-year-old girl is either enrolling in university or getting married. As if independence and other life options do not exist.
Here. Just to know more variations of job interviews. Mine were short and I find them pretty dull. You cannot have work experience without work. For me, the sentence "we need someone with more work experience" always gave a message as to how they actually hadn't read my work biography and that I had nothing to look for there.
And then they wonder why many young people go abroad and never return to their country.

Very true. It’s very difficult outside of the USA. I guess USA nurses have to be more thankful. Here we have residency programs that pay new nurse while training them. And they give you certifications in your area of training. Those certifications you can take with you to work anywhere in the future. My advice to you is to get a work visa for nurses and come to the USA
