Is it safe to mention you do volunteer work with your church that goes out to various non-profits to make a difference by cleaning, painting, food banks? It is different every month but they are a company reaching out to make sure they make healthcare accessible to those in underserved areas. I don't know if it is considered taboo to mention church volunteer work even if you don't go into "preaching".

This is great. But the interviewers ought to know that there are many good workers who always mean well and work well for the company that employ them but are not ELOQUENT IN SPEECH and there are many people that are eloquent but not good worker, but lazy, not friendly, , non put their best in the job.. Interviewers should always have a rethink by looking at others qualities too, and not the most eloquent who might not be truthful.. Thanks.

Agree, however sadly those biases are real and not many can overlook them. I wanted to hire a man with a speech impediment but the interviewing team minus one person disagree because they felt he would not be able to share information with in meetings well. Sadly he was already member of our team and had so much to offer. He's still there but has not applied for anything else which is sad. It's why I take issue with so called DEI initiatives. Pray it changes one day.

Hello Brigette, I had a huge interview last week, I had studied, practiced my stories following your guidelines for weeks, couple of days before the interview I watched THIS video. I wrote down "tell me about yourself" of what I wanted to say using the past, present and future. And on the day of the interview I pulled up this video and listened to 3:43 part "believe in yourself" to get into a positive mindset. Once I got in the interview, I believed that I had the right to be on that table and took my power back! I have decades of leadership experience and skills, I knew that it has led me to this moment! I GOT THE JOB!!!!! so thank you for your guidance and advice.
Anyone out there, prepare for the interview because it really will help you get the job and listen to these videos, it does help, if anything you will feel you did a great job during the interview.

When I heard that phrase from my church pastor, it definitely encouraged me to do the best. Thank you also for your videos. Very helpful tool and good resource for job interviews.

When I ask this question in an interview, I always try to be clear where I want the answer to go and don't leave it open as a trick question... Early in my career I was asked this question in 2 different interviews over a couple days... The first time I answered the question about my skills and career directions, the interviewer (VP of Product Development) quickly reacted that he didn't ask about my skillsets he wanted to know my life passions and hobbies... The 2nd time I answered the question more about my interest and passions and the interviewer reacted that he didn't care about that info he only wanted to know about career goals.

These tips were great, well-informed video!
Personally, I think the question is a waste of time. People can be manipulative and articulate all the convincing things & still not meet the expectations. The interviewer should be skilled enough to pick up on who's being genuine and not simply using tactics. Yes, the question can show the interviewee's communication skills, but people can do well at interviews and not fit the needs of the company.

      @@ALC0A021 No I didn't.
They mailed me back saying they needed a single and not a married lady.
This came after 3 interview stages, a presentation that I had sleepless nights for, and salary negotiation.
Sadly, I realized that my brain was picked.
I'm done with interviews, I've decided to focus my energy into making my businesses a success

Incredible advice! Thank you, Brigette. My best method is to remember that I'm interviewing them. Do I want to work for that company? They have to persuade me. Works every time when it's a job I want.

Hi Bridgette, I just wanna say that you're truly an amazing person. You had gone through so many setbacks before you could get to where you are today and I am so proud of you. You really wish to see people succeed and therefore you started this channel spreading tips on how to ace interviews and secure jobs. There aren't many channels that are as candour and inspiring as yours and on behalf of anyone who has benefitted, I would like to express my gratitude. Please don't ever stop making these videos and motivating people who just had a door slammed in their face after an interview. I really felt that "believe in yourself". I hope to see you make more positive impacts on people's lives. God bless you Bridgette..
