- Hello everyone! Today I've come back with another tteokbokki recipe. Many of you have been asking whether it is possible to make tteokbokki without using gochujang, so I hope this video would be helpful. It's super easy and delicious so have fun and enjoy! Thank you for watching:)
I tried this today and I’m never going to buy it from restaurants ever again. My country doesn’t have gochujang but this tasted SOOO GOOD and exactly like the one I get from outside, thank you so much for this i really loved it and enjoyed making it😭💕
does it actually taste good?! Wow!! Even without the gochujang?
@@annathebell2518 yes yes! Honestly this tastes just as if it had normal gochujang I definitely recommend trying it!
@@icyhottodo thank you for your honest reply :D will try it with noodles!! HAHAHA hv a great day 💕
If it doesn't have gochujang how do people outside make it? I think there is gochujang but not availabl
@@tasnimtabassum785 homemade gochujang or they ship it to the country the restaurant
4 tbsp chilli powder
2 tbso sugar
1 tbso soy sauce
1 tbso honey or corn syrup
Corn syrup is optional ?
@@Angelicflowers098 you can use either honey or corn syrup
Agave works too. Really any liquid sweet syrup should work but things like maple or date syrup will change the flavor profile which may not be a bad thing if you like it.
Is it ok not to put powdered chili?
I tried it and it was damn delicious, you have to try this
Instructions:
•In case if you don't have spring onions you can absolutely use normal onion
•If you don't have fish cake That s okay too
In case you did this recipe without using the things I told you and your Tteokbokki turned delicious then..... plzzz like👇👇👍👍😊😊
My recipe for pasta-ramen(inspired by this):
Sauce:
4 tbsp chilli powder
1-2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 chicken stock(cube)
1/2 tbsp garlic paste(if you like it)
Steps:
Add water in the vessel you are cooking this in.
Add the sauce paste and mix a bit.
Add boiled pasta in it and stir,
Add vegetables of your choice: eg. Beans sprout/lettuce/cabbage/tomato/mushrooms. if you like you can add cream cheese as well,
Add tofu(cottage cheese/paneer) in it(your choice).
Mix well, Add chilli flakes if you think it's needed. (As per taste)
Cook a spicy ramen or something like maggi will go well too. Pour them in same bowl and top with green onions
For the people who don't like spicy things just put 1/2 tbsp of chili powder. It's good enough if you want a tingle.
I saw how to make rice cakes from rice, so I'm going to make tteokbokki.
I'm just going to mix any random ingredient I can find to make the sauce lol and just hope it tastes good.
Totally relatable
Doing the same ! How did it turn out to be ?
@@btsismylife9890 It turned out great! I was surprised that it tasted so delicious :)
@@ste.f okay 😍

I am definitely making this! I have some frozen garaetteok and eomuk but I ran out of gochujang. Thanks for the great tip! 🥰
😉
Did you use dark or light soy sauce?
@@fizafarooq3530use light because we are already adding how and sugar
If you guys don't have korean fish cakes where you live, you can also use thinly sliced fried( or normal) tofu:) Also thank you for this video!! I'm trying this out tonight
Turned out great! If you don't have rice flour, consider blending a cup of uncooked rice with a few tablespoons of all purpose flour. Then, add a little water to it and knead it into a dough.
I am definately gonna try this recipe ... Without fish cake as i don't them
Did u try?
You can add chicken and noodles. 💜
thanks! i've been wanting to make tteokbokki at home for the longest time now😋

Heyy thanks for the recipe. I just made some tteok and just realized that i dont have gochujang and they dont sell it here lolll. Thankyou so much
Going to try this later this week. I recently was diagnosed with a soy allergy and every gochujong has soy in jt. So super excited for this + swap the soy sauce for coconut aminos!!
You recipe is perfect me and my husband really like it, my husband even said better than the original we buy 😉
tried it, it was pretty delicious and i enjoyed it. But it had a horrible aftertaste, i was mainly the taste of chili powder that lasted.
I just made it, it was soooo good! Thanks for the recipe!
Tip if you don't want it too sweet: Omit the sugar (in the paste/gochujang) if you are using honey instead of corn syrup
For those who want to make the rice cakes:
Rice flour, salt and warm water is all you need
Mix everything to make a dough (consistency of chapati or pizza base dough) and cut in cylinders
It is soo easy!
I don't have eomuk and spring onion, so I added sausage and potato pieces as well in the tteokbokki. (Potato slices in tteokbokki was too delicious ngl)
Even the garetteok was homemade by me lol
i can't find fish cake huhu

After reading all these comments I think I have to try this recipe.......🤔🤔
In the place of the green onion can I use the normal onion?
No,, green onion
@@mongskitchen4380 but why I think that there's not a big difference
Also because they don't buy green onion in Tunisia 😭😭
@@moonboygoo_ green onion is the green one (the leaf) onion is the red one (the bulbs)

No, ssamjang is a bad alternative to gochujang.
Mong's Kitchen why is it bad?
@@allysagarcia2448 ssamgang is typically used to bbq meat, well at least i use it for meat

If u don’t have tteokbokki u can do this with rice paper
Which type of sugar?
Make mukbangs too 😊😊

is there any alternative for soy sauce
I try the recipe and it's too spicy for me. I only put 3 tbsp of chili powder. I should've put only 1 tbsp. But it's delicious.
Can i use the red stuff you made in noodles
Of course
I tried it but it somehow didn't turn out good😢
Do we have to add all the sauce

Is it ok if I don't put green onions?
It is ok
nono its not okay. green onion is one of most important stuff in this food.
what type of soy sauce you used?
Thank you soo much 💜

i-
I tried to substitute the chilipowder w/ paprika & garlic powder and decided to skip the sugar... It ended up tasting so bad, like straight up disgusting the consistency and color was like warm peanut butter 😭I tried to save it with green onion garnish and cheese but that made it even worse... nobody do what I did I'm sure this recipe is delicious I just legit have no seasoning in my home
if anyone is desperate for rice cake sauce, I made it with ketchup, honey, and siracha sauce once and it was actually pretty alright lmao
mine tasted too sweet and kinda off...i used noodles though. is that bad?
Really?
Mine tasted supeeeeeeeeeeeeer spicy 😭
@@Ani-jb4jhsamee
I've tried this recipe 2 times now and both times the sauce didn't thicken up (still tasted good tho). I'm not using chicken stock, could that be the issue?
U can try adding little corn starch to thicken it
@@chick9573 We don't really have corn starch over here :(
@@Amina_Sync hmm corn flour or any flour should work too..
At 1:06 what did u put and what is the red thing at 1:10
At 1:06 I put in chicken stock and the red thing is the sauce.
Can I skip honey
Is fish cake necessary? Be cause I don't have it in my country.
No, you don't need it
You can use Cabbage instead
I added garlic and vinegar too..
But still it was🛑TASTELESS🛑
Even when l made the "paste" for the sauce I added way LESSS
Chilli powder and even after I used half of the paste that I made..stilllll that was really SPICYYYY
I'M SORRY I'M BEING MEAN
BUT I JUST DIDN'T LIKE IT....
I don't have enough ingredients
is it imp to use chicken stock or omit chicken?
You don't have to use chicken stock, but it's not going to taste as good.
can I find Gochunjang in Italy?
Look in a asian grocery store if you have one near you.
Si ci sono un sacco di negozi asiatici qui :) . Di solito costa attorno ai 5 euro
