    Beautiful build and what a tribute from you to your father! Two gentlemen I'm sure I would be proud to know and would be grateful to have as neighbors. Best wishes to both of you! Hope Dad has many many years of Happy trails ahead of him! Quite sure he'll always have a smile on his face when he thinks of his son!

A smaller bike is appealing, I just have face the fact that handling a big bike has become more difficult. I just hate giving up the comfort of the BMW and the 74 horsepower of the Husqvarna.

    I just got a 2022 XT250. Kinda wish I got a different bike. I’ve used mine on super rough steep roads and it always feels like the bike just goes where it wants. On the road it feels amazing and locked in, off road completely different, cumbersome, heavy and spongy. I am still going to keep it because it’s rock solid reliability hopefully it’s just a tire thing with the factory tires. But you just have to be careful Offroad that the front end doesn’t get away from you and you crash. Also the vibs are bad Offroad. 18mile trips by the end of it my hands feel numb, just got some new Pro Taper grips hope they help.
    Anything more then fire roads I’d say get something else. This bike will do the hard stuff but it’s not something your going to want to do with it all the time like I am.

      Also, try different gloves.
      My right hand quickly goes numb when road riding a street bike, but only if I'm wearing work gloves. With my m/c gloves, I can go for hours.
      Go to a m/c shop and try on a few pairs, paying attention to any bumps or seams on the inside.

      My daughter just bought a '22 XT that was traded in with 700 miles on it. I took it up to 65 for a minute, and there's nothing wrong with doing that. I wouldn't want to go very far though.
      Even with a 6 speed gearbox, my CRF250L seems to be in the same RPM range at 65, but I have a smaller countershaft sprocket installed. Still plenty of revs to go before redline.

      Thanks, I love small simple bikes. Something comforting knowing there's no radiator, or water pump to worry about breaking in the middle of nowhere. If the cockpit wasn't so cramped for me I'd have one for myself for sure. There's a great documentary that can be found on youtube of three guys in the 70s who rode there old enduros from Colorado to the Panama canal...it's called "Cycles South"....the bikes they had didn't have half the capability or reliability of the xt and they went everywhere they needed to. People seem to have forgotten the joy and simplicity of just strapping a couple bags to a small machine and finding adventure

    • @motonomad4900
      @motonomad4900  2 года назад +1

      It may not be too small for you, it all depends on what type of riding you'll be doing....it'll carry you down the trail with no problem at all, and you may really enjoy being able to touch the ground so easily. But for me the suspension is too soft but that's fairly cheap to fix but the main issue was the cockpit was a bit cramped for me but mind you I come from a motocross background so I'm use to a modern 450 motocross machine. I'd say go sit on one and take a test ride if possible, you may enjoy it. But if not the klx300 and CRF 300 would be the closest comparable bike in price and weight and are a bit larger frames

      @@motonomad4900 Rocky mountain fire roads/logging roads, moto camping trips, day fishing, putting around town... I'm not heading to the track anytime soon. Nothing real long range. Maybe 100 miles?
      If the TW had this engine, or the Honda trail was a 250, that's probably what I'd be after. Restored and built several Rokons. I love em, but they're too damn slow on decent dirt roads! I'm willing to sacrifice 2 wheel drive for a little more mph. Yeah. I'll have to just ride one around and see. Closest one to me is 300 miles. Kinda a gamble to go in blind.
